Yuvaan waited at the cafe, his fingers wrapped around a warm cup of tea. The sky outside was cloudy, and the air smelled like rain. His heart was beating fast. Aarav had asked to meet in person after Yuvaan sent that message.
He looked up when Aarav walked in. Aarav smiled, but it was a quiet smile, not his usual playful one. He sat down across from Yuvaan and took a deep breath.
I saw your message, Aarav said softly.
Yuvaan nodded. I just needed to know. I didn't mean to pressure you.
Aarav looked down at his hands. I know. I've been thinking about it a lot. About us.
Yuvaan stayed quiet, waiting.
I care about you, Aarav said. More than I've cared about anyone in a long time. But I've been scared. I've been hurt before. I didn't want to rush into something and mess it up.
Yuvaan's voice was gentle. I'm not asking for a label. I just want to know if what we have is real.
Aarav reached across the table and touched Yuvaan's hand. His fingers were warm. Yuvaan didn't pull away.
It's real, Aarav said. Every time I see you, my heart feels lighter. When you're not around, I miss you. I think about you all the time.
Yuvaan looked into Aarav's eyes. They were soft, full of emotion.
Then let's not hide it anymore, Yuvaan said. Let's take it slow, but let's be honest. With each other.
Aarav smiled, this time brighter. I want that too.
They sat in silence for a moment, hands still touching. The rain began to fall outside, tapping gently on the windows.
Aarav stood up and walked around the table. He leaned down and kissed Yuvaan's forehead.
You mean a lot to me, he whispered.
Yuvaan looked up, his cheeks warm. He stood too, and before he could think too much, he wrapped his arms around Aarav.
They hugged tightly, holding each other like they had been waiting for this moment for a long time.
Outside, the rain kept falling. But inside, everything felt calm.
They didn't need to say more. For now, they had each other.
