DAISY'S POV
I rose from bed quickly after the morning alarm woke me up. I rushed to prepare for the Pack Training. I was already late.
I need to go and face that monster who killed my mother.
Alpha Noah.
I had dreamed of this day so many times. Sometimes I imagined I would scream at him. Sometimes I thought I'd attack him. But now, I wasn't sure what I would do.
I slipped on my training boots and stared at myself one last time. My heart was beating so fast I could hear it. You're not weak, I told myself. Not anymore.
By the time I got to the training ground, everyone was already there.
Some girls were fixing their makeup like they were about to walk on a fashion stage, not train. Others were stretching or chatting in groups.
Uh-Oh.
"Daisy is late, with her scattered hair, she's already just like that."
I ignored her.
"She's late," another voice said louder. "The new Alpha is gonna rip your head off for that, cupcake."
Laughter followed. I clenched my fists but said, Me?
You're not even participating.
She said, "That's because I have special privileges as Eastwind Luna, and soon I'll be Blackwood Luna as well."
Alright, now everyone listens up.
Next phase of training, we'll be sparring with weapons. Grab a staff and Partner up.
Daisy Storm,is it? He gives a staff to use for the training.
Mila syod, you better sit this one out, Beta elias.
Poor thing doesn't even have a wolf yet.
I looked at mila, "I can still spar".I said. My grandfather was a former Beta. He trained me himself.
"Aw, isn't that so cute? Her dusty old pop-pop
Taught her how to wave a stick around." Mila said with a Mocking smile on her face.
Beta Elias said, "that's very nice, Ms Storm, but,uh,you still don't have partner.
stood at the back, waiting for someone to come partner with me, but no one did. No surprise. I was the "quiet one." The "weird girl without a family."
Suddenly,
Ah!
The ground seemed to shake a little. A presence entered the training field, and silence spread like wildfire. All heads turned.
I followed their gaze.
A tall man walked through the gates. Black boots. Black shirt. Power in every step. He looked familiar. My heart stopped.
Him.
The man from my nightmares. The one I had seen only once, years ago, the day everything changed.
People bowed their heads. Some even knelt.
"Alpha Noah," they all murmured.
My heart was racing .
He was staring at me his face unreadable, cold, powerful.
His eyes scanned the group, then landed on me. "You," he said, pointing.
My legs locked in place.
"You don't have a partner?"
I didn't answer.
He walked closer. Too close.
"I'm Alpha Noah. The new Alpha of Blackwood," he said, holding out his hand.
I slapped it away.
"You!" I shouted. "You killed my mother!"
Gasps echoed across the field. Everyone went still.
Alpha Noah didn't move. He was just staring at me with a determined eyes. "Your name is Daisy, right?"
I looked straight to his eyes, my breathing racing but short. "You disappeared yesterday just like that, pretending you don't know me! So this is what you were hiding!"
I turned to leave.
"You can't," his voice boomed. "You're part of this pack now. You belong here."
"No, you can't be me alpha!"
"But I'm already your Alpha and nothing you can do about it, I mean you have one now," he said. "Because your mother—was once part of this pack too."
I felt so angry, the more he spoke the words. "What?"
He stared at me, and said, "So if I killed you mother? You don't really know what happened.
"Shut up!" I screamed.
Everyone started whispering all at once.
"Is she challenging the Alpha?"
"No one's ever done that."
"She's getting herself into big trouble; the Alpha won't spare her ."
What a stupid girl.
But I don't even want to listen to what they're saying. My heart was racing with anger.
"You lied to me!" I shouted at Alpha Noah, my hands shaking at my sides. "You're pretending to be some protector… but you're the one who killed my mother! Don't act like you knew her. Don't act like you cared."
I took a step back. "I'm leaving. I'm getting out of here."
Noah's face was seriously unreadable, so determined. "You must not step an inch unless I ordered you to do so."
That made me laugh—but there was no humor in it. "Of course not. I dare not disobey the beast Alpha," I said, spitting the words like poison. "Everyone's scared of you. But not me. I see who you really are."
He didn't move. "Then prove it," he said coldly. "Spar with me. Or are you scared?"
My blood boiled. "That's the last thing that will happen, why will I be scared of you?" I stepped forward. " Bring it on, and give me everything you've got, Alpha Noah."
Everyone began to whisper to one another. The whole pack was really watching to see what happened next.
He came forward, and attacked me fast, like lightning, but I ducked and rolled. He was strong, stronger than anyone I had fought before, but I wasn't weak. I had trained alone for years—pain was my best friend.
We exchanged blows, each one harder than the last. He landed a hit on my shoulder—I kicked him in the chest. He grabbed my wrist—I twisted and threw him off balance. For a moment, just a moment, I almost had him.
But then… he turned serious.
One quick move. One sharp strike. I was almost about to beat him. Everyone was surprised to see my fighting skills.
But then I find myself on the ground, breathless.
He lay close to my ear, and said, don't bring up your emotions while fighting, that's your lesson for today's lesson.
his chest rising and falling. And he added "Don't ever disrespect me again," he warned, voice low and dangerous. He dropped his staff walking away.
I felt like cutting him off,or killing him immediately. I was so angry I couldn't control it.
Before I knew it I began to feel something strange in me.
The power in me grew too much —too dangerous.
