DAISY'S POV
Noah was Standing in the middle of the room, pulling on his dark shirt, like it was the most normal thing in the world.
He didn't look one bit guilty for walking in while I was half-naked.
He glanced at me and said casually, "Do I have to answer that question every time I come into my own room?"
I wanted to scream.
This was his room. Right.
I forgot.
But still—
"Can't you knock first?" I snapped.
He tilted his head with that annoying smirk. "Next time, I'll consider it."
I turned away, still clutching my towel. My heart was racing. Not just from the embarrassment, but from how he looked. His body. The way his eyes lingered on me. The heat in his gaze.
I looked around for my shirt. It was just on the bed earlier. But now—gone.
Where did my shirt go? I thought.
It's by the bed. he said. And I turned around to see him holding up my shirt, smirking.
I froze.
How did he…?
My eyes were on him.
Did he just hear my thoughts?
No. I didn't.
I was sure.
Then how did he know?
I took a slow step back. "Did you just… hear my thoughts?" I asked, almost in a whisper.
His smirk faded, replaced with something deeper. More serious.
He didn't answer right away. Just walked slowly toward me.
I don't know which tricks you are playing, I continued, but stay out of my head. Noah grabbed my hand and said with his voice low, you're in my head first.
I said, trying to pull away. But he didn't let go.
"Do you remember the day you were rejected?" he asked. "That moment… when you begged for someone—anyone—to help you? But you never said it out loud."
I stiffened.
You're really playing tricks with me.
How could it be, that you're hearing my thoughts. Isn't that impossible?
I was speechless, staring at his unreadable eyes.
He stepped closer to me enough to read my feelings, so close I could feel his breath on my skin.
"I'm aware that you're only pretending," he said, voice husky. "That dream. That feeling."
I swallowed hard. "Dream?"
"You felt what I felt," he said. "Our connection. It's more than just a mate bond. It's something ancient. Something stronger."
My body froze.
I wanted to deny it.
I wanted to run.
But my heart… was rising.
What is he gonna do to me?
He was so close that i'm really dying to kiss him.
" Just go ahead and continue with your pretending," he said, brushing a strand of wet hair from my cheek. "But you can't fight it."
His hand lingered on my face.
My heart was rising so fast that I could hear the sound.
"We're made for each other, Daisy," he whispered, voice thick with emotion. "I know you want me, your body's feelings are calling for me." l was already getting lost by his touch.
His words sent a spark down my spine. My knees weakened, but I stood my ground.
His face came closer, his breath warm on my neck.
"I can smell the desire on you," he murmured.
His lips brushed so close to my neck that I swore I stopped breathing.
He lifted his head slowly, his lips inches from mine.
My heart pounded so loudly, I was sure he could hear it.
Was he going to kiss me?
Was I going to let him?
Just as his lips were about to touch mine—
KNOCK. KNOCK.
A sharp knock shattered the moment like glass.
"Miss Daisy," a voice called through the door. "You're late for school."
It was Gemma.
The real world had returned.
I jumped back as if waking from a dream, yanked my clothes from the bed, and rushed toward the bathroom again.
"I have to go!" I shouted, not even daring to look at him.
He said nothing.
But I could feel his eyes burning into my back.
I threw on my uniform quickly, grabbed my bag, and ran out of the room.
My heart was still racing as I passed the hallways. Gemma without a word. She just looked at me with a strange little smile like she knew something I didn't. And Gemma said, ma'am I'm so sorry, I was about to tell Alpha Noah that you're taking a bath but before I could he was already inside the room.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to stop him.
"don't worry Gemma, it's alright.
What had just happened?
Why was Noah in my head?
Why could he hear me… and I could feel him?
Was I going crazy?
Or was something far more dangerous happening?
I was still shaking when I reached the school gates…
DAISY'S POV
The moment I reached school, I was already late. My heart was still racing from what had happened this morning. I was still thinking about it, still finding it difficult to believe that Alpha Noah can hear my thoughts.
The feeling is still going round my head, From Noah's voice in my head. His lips are so close to mine. The way his eyes saw through me like I was made of glass. He almost caught my Feelings. But I don't want to have anything to do with him. I need to stay away from him.
Just the moment I stepped inside the classroom, reality hit me harder than the cold morning wind. All eyes on me somehow were scared of me At the same time looking for my trouble.
They were laughing. Whispering. Staring.
"She's here," someone muttered under their breath.
"Be careful," another said. "She might bite."
"She's half-vampire, half-wolf. Who knows what else she's hiding?" she meant to turn into a bat this time.
I clenched my fists and kept walking, ignoring the whispers, but each one felt like a knife. I knew they didn't like me. I knew they were scared of me. And I hated that it still hurt. But that doesn't really matter to right now because even before now they never liked me.
I sat down quietly at the back, trying to disappear.
"Freak," Mila whispered just loud enough for me to hear.
I took a deep breath.
Ignore it, Daisy. Just survive the day.
The classroom door opened again.
Everyone went silent.
All heads turned.
Even the professor paused.
Alpha Noah walked in.
He wore a dark jacket, black jeans, and that cold, unreadable expression he always had in public.
He walked straight to the professor and said, "I've been asked to observe this class. I'll be joining today."
The professor only nodded nervously. "Y-yes, Alpha."
Noah took the empty seat beside me.
Right beside me.
Of all the seats, why mine?
I tried to keep my thoughts silent.
But of course, he heard me anyway.
"You don't want me to sit here?" he whispered under his breath.
I turned to him. "Do you ever stop listening to people's thoughts?"
He didn't answer. Just smirked and looked ahead like he was enjoying this more than he should.
The professor began the lesson. It was about hybrid laws and supernatural history—something I should have known but didn't. It had been over a month since I'd attended school properly. Too many things had happened. Too much pain.
I haven't been to class in weeks. I'm not ready for this. I thought.
And of course, Alpha Noah heard it.
Now he really won't Stop bothering me just making sure everything turns out bad for me.
"Professor," he said loudly, raising his hand, "why don't you ask Daisy the next question?" "I'm sure she knows the answer, right Daisy?"
My heart stopped.
The whole class turned to look at me.
The professor nodded. "Miss Daisy, explain how the Vampire-Wolf Treaty of the East was broken in the year 1876?"
I blinked.
My mind was blank.
Totally blank.
I swallowed and tried to answer. "Um… it was… something about the Blood War?"
Wrong.
Dead wrong.
The professor frowned.
The class laughed.
"Wrong," Mila said with a smirk. "But don't worry, Alpha Noah will answer it for you. Like he always does."
Noah ignored her.
He answered the question easily, his voice calm and steady.
The professor nodded, impressed. "Exactly. Well said."
Mila leaned closer to her friend and whispered, "I bet the Alpha even does her homework for her. Such a shame. So pathetic."
I heard it. And I knew Noah did too. His jaw tensed, but he said nothing.
The moment the class ended, quietly I stayed behind, slowly locking my books in my locker, hoping everyone would leave before I walked out. I don't want more drama.
But of course, I wasn't alone for long.
As usual, he likes To follow me around now like a puppy.
He came.
I didn't even hear his footsteps. One moment I was alone, and the next… he was beside me. Staring at me like I'm his only responsibility.
Alpha Noah.
The moment he stood in front of me "Why didn't you say anything back to them?" he asked softly.
I didn't look at him. "What's the point?"
But Why should I even reply Them? They are not my problem right now.
"They don't know you," he said.
"Neither do you," I replied.
He leaned in, his voice dropping low. "I know more than you think." but don't worry I will soon get that thing you're hiding, That feelings and you will be begging me to have you.
I turned to him, and once again, he was too close. His hand brushed mine as he reached for a book I dropped. His fingers lingered, and my heart skipped again.
Our faces were inches apart.
It was happening again.
The pull.
The heat.
His lips moved slightly—like he was about to say something.
Or kiss me.
And then—
DING!
The loud school bell rang.
Just like that, the moment broke.
I stepped back fast, heart pounding.
But I couldn't walk away yet. Not this time.
I turned to him, my eyes burning.
"You can't be following me around like a puppy," I said, my voice shaking.
When you know what you did.
He looked at me, seriously. "What is it?"
"You killed her," I said. "You killed my mom."
His eyes widened. "What?"
"You're a vampire hunter," I said. "Don't lie. I know who you are. And I know what you do."
His lips parted, stunned. "Daisy, I didn't—"
"She died that night because she was fighting," I continued. "If you hadn't dragged her into it, if she hadn't fought, you're the one who coursed the fight between the werewolf and vampire —she wouldn't have been there. She wouldn't have died."
He stepped forward, but I held up a hand.
"Don't come closer," I said. "You may not have killed her with your own hands, but you're the reason she's gone."
His voice was tight. "It wasn't supposed to happen that way."
"So it did happen," I said. "You were there. Weren't you?"
He looked away.
That was all the answer I needed.
My chest felt like it was breaking.
"You lied to me," I whispered.
"I didn't lie," he said. "I just never told you the truth."
My legs felt weak.
I pretended and looked away, trying not to cry in front of him.
"you won't understand what's really happened that night, the way the whole thing. Makes me feel like.
He looked at me, guilt in his eyes.
"I lost something too," he said quietly.
I froze.
"What?" I asked.
He opened his mouth to answer—but suddenly, we heard a loud crash outside the school hallway.
Followed by screams.
We both turned.
Students were running.
Panic spread.
Noah grabbed my hand. "Stay close to me."
But before I could respond, the lights flickered—then went out.
Darkness.
And then—
A voice echoed down the hallway. Cold. Deep. Not human.
"The hybrid girl… must die."
My blood ran cold.
Before I could know what was happening, Noah's hand gripped mine tightly. "We have to get out of here," he said.
I looked at him, heart racing.
Because the voice that spoke…
Was the same one I heard outside the school this morning.
The man in the cloak.
He was here.
And he was looking for me.
