Chapter 4 - chapter three

Denarius was much different, as much as he knew he was a vampire and it was necessary to feed, he still valued human life. Valued and missed his very own human life. It came easier to denarius to attack those who were criminals, murders, rapists. He felt less guilt about killing them and ridding the world of these horrible people. He knew he was the worst of the worst by nature but with whatever was left in his heart was not the creature his appearance portrayed him to be. There were times when he needed to feed regardless of who it was and as much as it hurt him he had a gift. He was able to erase the pain they felt when it happened and the ability to make them forget what had happened to them. Sometimes if it truly hurt him to have to feed on the human he was feeding on, he would lock into their thoughts and replay a happy moment in their life so they had felt no pain during his feeding and were in a happy place well he fed. But it was not just during feedings that he was capable of mind control in various ways, at any point of time just through a gaze into his eyes, he could entrap anyone even some vampire opponents could get caught and pulled in.

Unlike Sheri who possessed the power to control shadow of any kind and create whatever she could with them. Whether it be day or night there were always shadows, she once used the reflected shadow of a man, to chase and torment into a secluded area to make her kill. But she liked to play with her prey, prey is all humans were to her and she found an orgasmic rise from taunting and playing with them before devouring there life and soul.

Denarius sat in his chair deep in thought about how he was going to start a new life again in a new town, with his newly turned vampires. Sheri had already murder someone and took no care to make it look in a natural way or as if an accident had happened. He had so many new vampires to teach and train to follow his ways and control their lust for blood. He did not need Sheri creating a new path for them to take and leading an innocent small town to an apocalyptic end. He was so deep in thought he did not notice he had an audience watching over him.

"Denarius I'm sorry to bother you, I can go and come back" Denarius put on a smile that would have made woman's knees crumble where they stood. "No, no Layla please come sit talk with me, so much better to talk to someone then to battle conversations between myself." Layla was hit by a car at a cross walk, she was only 16 years old. The driver took off and left her laying there. Denarius had swooped in and took her far into the forest. he knew it would be unfair to turn such a young girl into a vampire but she had several broken bones and most consisted with her ribs which had punctured her lungs letting the blood flow in. so he cradled her body in his arms, tilted her neck and bit her and drained her enough that the blood didn't make it near enough to fill a quarter of a lung. He then bit his wrist and took her near lifeless body and poured his blood into her.

Layla was the closest thing Denarius even had to a friend he considered her more like his little sister and protected her to every means. Being a new vampire was hard enough to cope with learning training and stability but being young once turned created for even more reckless endangerment. But he taught her his way and within time she adjusted. Still occasionally getting herself into positions denarius would have to step into. But he gladly did, because he did love Layla and she looked up to him like a brother.

Denarius grabbed Layla and pulled her over onto the chair with him in a bear hug "so tell me what's biting at yah" the two rolled in laughter at his ridiculous pun.

"Well I didn't mean to be eaves dropping but I couldn't help it, I don't like that one, that Sheri. She causes so much trouble we never get to settle down in one place and try and make a somewhat normal life among the people like you want. And part of me was worried when she came in here with you alone so I followed her." Denarius placed his chin on top of her head "what would ever make you worried for me, especially from Sheri?"

Layla pulled herself away and kept her ruby eyes on denarius's chest "Denarius I've been watching her kind of following her, she is trying to get the other vampires to rebel against you. I've listened to everything she's been telling them. How she wants to massacre the humans or her prey as she likes to put it. And how she wants to take you whether you want her or not. She wants you and the things she's trying to start up, I- I, I'm just scared. You're all that I have. I won't follow her way which means she would kill me and if she took you away from me if she didn't kill me, well then I might as well just die." tears formed at the corners of Layla's eyes as she continued to peer at denarius's chest.

He took her face in his hands and pulled her gaze to his eyes to see the truth in the words he spoke "that will never happen Layla, I promise you. Sheri will never take over and massacre no one, she will never take me and I will never ever let anyone harm you ever, even if it meant losing my life to protect you I would. However if vampires are going to start to rebel then I will have to exterminate them. I know it saddens you to think of losing the vampires that have become more like our elite family but there's no other option. Once a vampire gives over to the true darkness there is no rehabilitation. And we cannot have Sheri creating a rebellion with vampires that she has trained to enduldge their true dark sides."

Layla stood up and began to pace short distances infront of denarius. "Please tell me we can feed soon, I am growing so very tired and weak." "We will feed tonight Layla, you and I will go and feed. Tell no one the others are going to have less feeding especially with what Sheri's plans are turning to be."
