Shao Yunlu came to Shao Mingzhu's side in an instant and hurried out of the library with him. Ning Shushu followed along behind them.
Meanwhile they left, the green-haired man watched the kids leave his store without even reading a book with a hint of doubt on his face.
Am I so scary? I just wanted to see what that kid saw after comprehending the runes. The man with green hair muttered to himself.
"Dong Lao, do you have any idea how it feels to have someone suddenly appear right in front of you once you found a treasure? If I was that boy, I'd immediately aim for your neck with a knife." A mysterious voice sounded.
"Oh please, he's merely a Tier One Runesmith. What treasure could he possibly possess that I'd want?" The green-haired man named Dong Lao scoffed.
"Even then, we're a part of the same organization, and I'm his boss's boss's bosses boss."
"Hehe, how is he supposed to know that? And you say that like it means anything."
"Whatever, I gave the kid some compensation. He wouldn't hold a grudge on something so petty. If he did, his talent is for nothing." Dong Lao said, and the mysterious voice didn't sound again, probably agreeing with Dong Lao's words.
Shao Mingzhu didn't know about the conversation happening inside the library, and if he did, he'd shout at that green-haired man for being out of touch in society.
You can't just go around scaring kids like that, he might have them have a heart attack!
Well, I guess Shao Mingzhu is an anomaly since he doesn't have a heart.
After they left the store, Shao Mingzhu felt it still wasn't safe and headed up back to the first floor before he finally took a seat on one of the stone benches that were scattered around the Jade Cave Mansion.
Sitting down, Shao Mingzhu took a deep breath in and out, and fell back, letting himself rest on the bench more comfortably.
Shao Yunlu's face was red while Shao Mingzhu's face was the same pale face colour. Ning Shushu seemed fine and calmly sat on the bench next to them.
"Damn, who was that guy? I just wanted to read some books." Shao Mingzhu with a slight cry in his voice.
"I knew libraries are dangerous." Shao Yunlu muttered, ignoring Shao Mingzhu's words.
"That was the owner of the Jade Cave Mansion. In fact, anywhere in the Jade Cave Mansion can be observed by him using sight runes." Ning Shushu said with a chuckle, scaring Shao Yunlu even more.
Shao Mingzhu had a feeling that was the case since he had time runes in the store and could use them, it wouldn't surprise him if that guy forcefully took over the runes in the Jade Cave Mansion if he didn't own it.
As he left and finally calmed down, he realized his running had no meaning. He clearly left those runes for anyone to comprehend them, or he wouldn't allow someone with his pitifully small power to see them. Of course it could be he never imagined someone could comprehend them at this level of power.
"You seem to know him quite well?" Shao Mingzhu said, turning his gaze to meet Ning Shushu's eyes.
"I don't know him at all, I just know he's the owner of the Jade Cave Mansion and is one of the higher ups of the Church of Light." Ning Shushu said, and her eyes looked at his pants pocket.
"You're lucky that he gave you that card."
"Huh, the green gold card?" Shao Mingzhu said, and took it out of his pocket with a raised brow.
"Yes. That card will allow you to be a permanent employee of the Church of Light and can undergo baptism of the Holy God once." Ning Shushu said, her eyes wandering, seeming to remember something.
"The baptism can help someone cleanse their body and reform it to better fit the runes in their bodies. It's painful and not for someone with a weak will, so use it with caution." Ning Shushu said.
Shao Mingzhu's face lit up upon hearing this, and he immediately thought of his missing heart.
I wonder if this baptism can fix my missing heart? Although it hasn't given me any troubles yet, if someone found out that I was walking around with a missing heart, they'd certainly question me and try to figure out how I'm still alive. They could even think that I'm some sort of demon cultivator that practices a path that is deemed evil.
Even if it didn't, having the runes in my body perfectly match my needs would give me the boost I need to become a Tier Two Runewriter, and I can finally begin to make some income.
But why does Ning Shushu know about this? Something about the gods would be a secret amongst the organizations, yet she knew it like it was common knowledge. My sister really knows how to make friends.
Shao Mingzhu shook his head, and felt like coming to this Jade Cave Mansion was worth it, and felt like he should communicate with Ning Shushu more. She was like a treasure trove of knowledge, and once he reaches the second tier of Runes, he'll need to gaze at the golden runes above her head.
"Ning Shushu, can I add you on the Goddess Network?" Shao Mingzhu asked, causing Shao Yunlu's ears to perk up.
"Sure." Ning Shushu nodded.
Shao Mingzhu stretched out his left hand that had a thin blue bracelet on it, and Ning Shushu also stretched out her hand and put it beside Shao Mingzhu's.
A slight ping noise was heard, and Shao Mingzhu knew that the two of them were now friends.
Just as he was about to take his hand back, Ning Shushu suddenly grabbed his hand and shook it.
"As new friends, we should shake on it." Ning Shushu said, her voice calm and cold.
Shao Mingzhu felt weird, but didn't think much and shook her hand.
Hehehe, his hands are so soft~ ugh, I have to let go of he'll think I'm weird. I'll find a better excuse next time.
The two of them stopped shaking hands after a few seconds, and Shao Yunlu had the biggest smile on her face watching the two of them interact. What happened in the library has completely disappeared from her head, and only the thought of the two getting married remained.
"Well, I'm going to head back home since the seventh sun is about to arise in ten minutes. I also have some things to do and plan out, so you two have fun." Shao Mingzhu said, and got up from the bench.
Shao Yunlu was kicked out of her fantasies when she heard Shao Mingzhu's voice, and hurried to grab his hand.
"Brother, stay! There is still ten minutes left!" Shao Yunlu said, but Shao Mingzhu shook her off.
"Yunlu, just leave your brother. He comprehended something in the library and needs his own time to settle down." Ning Shushu said, grabbing her arm.
Shao Yunlu wanted to argue, but suddenly her eyes lit up and allowed Shao Mingzhu to leave.
Ning Shushu watched her actions in confusion. Ever since she's seen the two of them, they'd argue nonstop, but suddenly she stopped, which confused her.
Seeing her friend's confusion, Shao Yunlu smiled and said with a giggle, "You protected my brother and allowed him to do what he wanted. Isn't that what husbands and wives should do?"
Ning Shushu felt speechless. She's never seen someone so focused on someone else's relationship. She has seen guys and girls abandon everything for their love, but hasn't seen someone abandon everything to match two other people together.
Meanwhile Shao Yunlu tried to influence her good friend to fall in love with her brother, Shao Mingzhu was already walking in the thin light of the sixth moon back home.
He watched as people on swords, carpet, and animals flew by on the roads. This world didn't have cars nor did it need any, so road laws became flying laws.
It made transportation a lot faster since this world was a lot bigger. Even Shao Mingzhu's walking speed was similar to a bike in his old world.
It didn't take long before he finally reached the sky tower tree that housed his apartment, and walked straight in and claimed the steps that led to his apartment.
Walking to the door, Shao Mingzhu applied Qi on the door that unlocked the rune on the door, allowing him to open it.
Once the door was open, Shao Mingzhu walked in with hurried steps, slamming the door behind him and made his way to his room.
Right now, the only thing he wants to try is his ancestral meditation while fiddling around with the luck and merit runes.
Sigh, this time my sister won't interrupt me. Though she did give me quite a big gift, even if she doesn't know. Shao Mingzhu chuckled and sat cross legged on his bed.
Let's start.
