Chapter 1 - Sam, Mom and the Stranger

Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Sam. Sam was very helpful and always liked to keep things clean. One sunny morning, Sam decided to help his mom by cleaning the table in the living room. He took a small cloth and started wiping it carefully.

As Sam was cleaning, he found something shiny on the table. It was a phone! Sam looked at it with surprise. "Hmm, this is not mine," he said softly. He placed it aside and kept cleaning. Just then, something else fell off the table with a little ting! sound. It was his mother's golden ring.

Sam quickly bent down and picked it up. But oh no! The ring was broken. A small piece had come off. Sam's eyes grew wide. "Oh dear, this is Mom's favorite ring! I must fix it!" he whispered to himself.

Sam was a brave little boy, so instead of getting scared, he decided to find things that could help him repair the ring. He ran outside the room and started looking everywhere. He searched in drawers, he opened cupboards, and he even peeked under the sofa. He wanted to find glue, tape, or anything that could help.

While Sam was searching, he suddenly heard a strange sound. "Hmmm…" It was like someone whispering. Sam froze. His heart started beating fast. Slowly, he turned around.

And there he saw… a stranger standing behind him!

The man was tall and wore a big coat. His face was half hidden by a hat. Sam had never seen him before. The stranger was looking straight at him.

Sam got scared and without saying a word, he started running. He ran as fast as his little legs could take him. His feet made soft thump thump thump sounds on the floor. He wanted to go outside quickly.

First, Sam ran to the front door. He grabbed the handle and pulled hard. But—oh no—the door was locked! Sam shook it again and again, but it did not open. "What should I do now?" he thought, his little hands trembling.

Then Sam ran to the window. "Maybe I can go outside from here!" he said to himself. But when he tried to open the window, it was also locked tightly.

Sam was now even more scared. The stranger was slowly walking closer. Sam could hear the heavy sound of his shoes. Clomp. Clomp. Clomp.

Sam thought very quickly. He looked around and saw a hammer lying on the table. Without wasting a second, he picked it up with both hands. He was small, so it felt a little heavy, but he was determined. With all his strength, Sam hit the wall with the hammer. Bang! Bang! Bang!

At last, the wall broke a little, and there was a small hole. Sam squeezed through the hole and rushed inside another part of the house. He was breathing fast but felt a little safer now.

Sam did not stop until he found his mom. She was in the kitchen, cooking something delicious. When Sam reached her, he hugged her tightly. "Mom! Mom!" he cried.

His mother looked at him with surprise. "What happened, Sam? Why are you so scared? And why is there dust on your face?" she asked gently.

Sam took a deep breath and started telling the whole story. He told her how he was cleaning the table, how her ring had fallen and broken, how he wanted to fix it, and then how a stranger had suddenly appeared. He explained how the door and window were locked, and how he used a hammer to break the wall and escape.

Mom listened carefully, her eyes wide in shock. She hugged Sam even tighter and said, "Oh, my brave boy! You did the right thing by running away and coming to me. I am so proud of you!"

Sam felt safe in his mother's arms. He smiled a little and showed her the broken ring. "I wanted to fix it for you, Mom," he said softly.

His mother kissed his forehead and replied, "Don't worry about the ring, Sam. What matters most is that you are safe."

Just then, they both heard footsteps. Mom quickly called the police. The stranger was caught outside the house, and the officers took him away.

Sam and his mom sat together after everything was calm. His mom gave him a warm cup of milk and said, "You are my little hero, Sam."

Sam felt proud and happy. He promised himself that he would always protect his mom and be brave whenever something scary happened.

And from that day on, whenever Sam saw his mom's ring, he remembered the adventure of the stranger and how he had been so brave.
