Instead of going to the divination club, Klein instead chose to go back home early to his own house. Although he did feel guilty that he had not gone back to Amon's place first, he was feeling very jittery and nervous about what Mr. Azik had pointed out about coincidences.
It was not just Mr. Azik either, even Leonard had jokingly pointed out that Klein had experienced more extraordinary phenomena in his few weeks as a Nighthawks member than they had in years.
If these series of coincidences were really someone targeting him specifically for whatever reason, Klein didn't want to involve Amon in this at all. First, he'll investigate about these coincidences before spending too much time with Amon. He didn't want a normal person like Amon to get involved in extraordinary extremely dangerous extraordinary and beyonder phenomenon.
Klein returned home and drew the curtains, allowing his room to slip into darkness.
He took out his pen and paper and thought for a long time, finally writing down a sentence: "The kidnapping of Elliott was due to extraordinary elements."
He held the spirit pendulum with his left hand and allowed it to hang close over the divination statement on the paper.
He collected himself and entered a state of Cogitation. With his eyes closed, Klein started chanting repeatedly, "The kidnapping of Elliott was due to extraordinary elements."
As he recited the statement over and over again, Klein opened his eyes and looked at the pendulum, only to see the topaz turning counterclockwise slowly.
"It's still a negative…" Klein muttered to himself. He designed several other divination statements, but the results persisted—there was nothing strange about that incident.
Did he actually get scared from Mr. Azik's random comment?
No, he must make sure before drawing any conclusions.
He then tried to divinate through the divination method.
But the result was the same. The true reason for Elliott's kidnapping was because of the kidnappers and everything matched with the statements they had given.
After exiting the dream, Klein separately divined the other two incidents but had the same result. Their developments followed logic. The coincidences were really coincidences.
"I was indeed overthinking things. Mr. Azik is merely a divination enthusiast…" Klein stabilized his pendulum and shook his head with a bitter smile.
But he still didn't find everything to be right. Firstly, Mr. Azik wasn't the kind of person to casually say something like this nor was he a divination enthusiast in Klein Moretti's memories.
He remembered how he had been told that divination was not absolute, either his sequence was just too low or there were outside things that were interfering with his divination. Klein couldn't deal with either of those- but he could change his environment! An environment that was more mysterious and had special powers!
Klein quickly pulled out a silver dagger, after drawing a wall of spirituality he quickly chanted the incantation and stepped four times clockwise, entering the grey fog.
Klein quickly willed a piece of goatskin parchment paper and a quill and did the same divination he had done in his house. This time, the pendulum was actually rotating clockwise! There really was something strange and extraordinary behind Elliott's kidnapping!
He then quickly started to dream divinate, in the dream he saw a red chimney and a house- but the dream quickly shattered. He tried the divination again to get more information, but this time there was nothing. Whoever or whatever there was had actually sensed his divination and had already stopped any further prying...
So the grey fog really enhances his divination powers...
Klein sighed as he leaned back on his high black chair and rubbed his temples. He glanced at the ring in his finger and the very fog swirling inside the main jewel was the same as his surroundings. This ring can help Klein access more powers of the grey fog and even connect him somewhat in the physical world to the grey fog here... although his level was still very low despite the ring, he concluded that as he raised his sewing, maybe to the mid sequence level, he could even completely divine about things in the real world.
Now that he had realized that his divination powers had been buffed a lot, Klein quickly dominated things like the sequence 8 potion for seer was clown, Mr. Azik's intentions were good and whether Mr. Azik was a strong beyonder.
He got a positive for all of them.
Klein returned back to the real world and drew the portrait of the third person when Welch was buying the Antigonus family notebook with Hannas Vincent, with the help of praying to himself and blessing himself, he was able to successfully draw the face of the man he had seen I the dream divination.
Good...
With this he could finally start investigating by himself. The next destination was the divination club!
Klein spent the rest of the evening investigating in the divination club, reporting to Dunn about the man with a fake story he had made up and going to the black market where old Neil had brought him to ask the boss about the man in the portrait and even spent a few pounds buying mysticism items and essential oils that could aid him as a seer with no physical prowess.
In the end, he went to the public library since the boss had said that he had known that the man had borrowed a book about the Hornacis mountain peak. Since it was a library, surely he could find information about him.
He hadn't expected the man to actually be there while he was leaving! this was too much of a coincidence!
Klein cooked dinner for Melissa and Benson, he was completely exhausted. He had managed to get the fo rule of the clown potion with the help of the spirit mediumship dream divination method after managing to kill the man. Thankfully, the captain and Leonard had arrived just in time and had taken over things allowing Klein to return back home.
Although it was supposed to be his rest day, he had run around and done so much...
Klein sighed as he took off his apron and started preparing the dining table. Thankfully, the massage Amon had given him the morning was really good and the ring Amon had used to propose to him was also really useful in restoring his spirituality and he wasn't as exhausted as he should have been after doing so many divinations in the same day. He had even felt his Seer porion digest!
He was sure that he could completely digest his potion in a week or so- but then how would he ask for a promotion and the sequence 8 clown potion? One must have to wait for 10 years to advance to sequence 8, he didn't want to give himself up and reveal that he had information...
But he didn't have the money himself to buy those expensive materials...
("Surely we can help him in that regard?"
"Why does our fiance act like he's broke when he has us." The Amon clone pouted.)
"Klein," Amon greeted with a pout as Klein entered the living room. "I haven't seen you in a few days..."
"I'm sorry, I was just a bit busy with my job and research." Klein replied with a helpless and guilty smile. "I recently got a promotion, the police department was impressed with my skills and hired me as their history consultant as well. I'll be getting a raise- but you know how slow the government-"
"Stop." Amon cut in as he hugged Klein, "I haven't seen you in so many days due to your job, and as soon as you come back you're still only talking about your job..." he sniffed.
"I-" Klein stuttered, "I'm so sorry..." but he couldn't do anything either, he had intentionally stayed away from Amon, afraid that whoever was targeting him with so many coincidences would notice Amon and also string him up in this entire situation.
"Let's stop talking about it now, here I've got something to show you!" Amon cheered as he pulled Klein to the basement, where the storage room was. "Since you've been so interested in mysticism these days, I bought some stuff for you!"
"What- wait how did you know?" Klein's eyes widened in panic, did Amon find out that he was a beyonder and a Nighthawk?
"I've seen the books you usually read from the library, either they are about history or mysticism." Amon smiled as he put the key in the door and unlocked it, "didn't you also start making those charms by yourself? I've also seen you carrying around topaz pendulums and various oils and mysticism materials."
"Oh..." Klein blushed, he hadn't expected Amon to be so observant towards him. A good and loving wife truly is great... he thought giddily.
"I realized I still hadn't congratulated you properly for landing a good job and moving into a better house, so I'd decided to gift you with some stuff!" Amon said with a shy smile, "Don't try to reject the gifts, I've already bought them and they can't be returned."
This was the best method to give Klein his required materials for the clown potion. He didn't want Klein to apply for it from the Nighthawks, and then to have to make a bindon vow in the name of the goddess which would connect Klein to Amanisis after which she could pry into Klein any time she wanted and would be able to realize that Amon was there with Klein.
As per his plans, he didn't want any sort of connection between Klein and Amanisis, even a single conversation or interaction or recitation of her name. No, not until Klein could trust him completely.
He also made sure to not buy anything even closely resembling gold in case Klein went ahead with his promise to make charms from the power of that stupid Aucuses.
"Amon..." Klein sighed helplessly.
Amon opened the storage room and showed Klein everything he had thought for him, including some of the mysticism stuff that Klein would have deemed too expensive but would have still found useful. Of course, he bought every single main material and supplementary material for the clown potion, and to make sure that Klein didn't find it too strange, he also bought many other things of other pathways and random items so Klein wouldn't find it too strange.
"Here is everything I've bought, to make it easier for you to see whatever there is." Amon smiled as he handed Klein the list of materials.
Klein read through the list casually, not expecting Amon, a person completely oblivious to the extraordinary and Beyonder world to know what really mysticism ingredients and materials were, but as he slowly read through the list, he couldn't help but slowly widen his eyes in disbelief.
This...
This-!
The entire list was filled with materials ranging from sequence 9 to sequence 7!
There were even a few crystals of the single horn of a matured Hornacis gray mountain goat and 4 complete stalks of a human-faced rose! The main ingredients for the Clown potion! There were even many complete sets of the required supplementary ingredients!
Klein suddenly felt a bit suspicious, how was it that Amon ust gave him these gifts as soon as he found out the ingredients required for the clown potion?
Klein glanced back at Amon who was just looking at him with a prideful and self-satisfied smile, waiting for Klein's praise and happy expression, and then suddenly felt guilty. Yeah, there was no way Amon intentionally gave these to them, firstly how would he even know that these were the ingredients Klein needed, and secondly, there was just so much stuff from other sequence materials as well. So he was sure that Amon didn't specifically buy the materials for the clown potion for him.
How could he have suspected his sweet little white flower wife like that?! He was trash!
But still...
"Amon, all this must have been very expensive..." Klein shifted awkwardly. If he calculated in his mind, all this was easily thousands of pounds worth!
"It wasn't for me, just a little pocket change." Amon smiled.
Ah yes... how could he forget that his wife was probably the richest person in all of Rune...
Klein smiled as he turned to Amon and hugged him. With this, he wouldn't have to inform the church that be had digested his potion early and expose the fact that he knew about the acting method which would probably cause a lot of complications.
"Thank you so much, Amon." Klein said gently as he lovingly patted Amon's soft curly hair, running his fingers through them.
Amon blushed, this time it wasn't a fake one. "Can I have my reward now?" He asked hopefully.
"Yeah..." this time Klein didn't hesitate to seal his lips with Amon.
Although what Amon meant was sex and not just a kiss... this was still enough.
Amon wrapped his arms around Klein and the two shared a deep loving kiss.
Yeah, relationships were a step-by-step process, he couldn't get impatient and scare his fiancé away. For now, he would enjoy this sweet kiss and innocent love.
Klein returned home with a wide smile. As he was eating dinner with his family, he couldn't help but think how good it was that he now had all the materials needed for advancement as soon as he digested his Seer option. It was such a good coincidence-
Wait-
Coincidence?!
"Klein, are you okay? You're looking a bit pale there..." Melissa pointed out worriedly.
"Is it the job? You should rest periodically and properly Klein," Benson laughed from his seat beside Klein.
"Y-yes... it's just the job and all..." Klein laughed awkwardly.
He went to sleep early that day, but no matter what he couldn't sleep naturally.
Had the conspirator behind all those coincidences that he has been going through managed to sniff out Amon?
To think he had actually accidentally involved Amon in such a dangerous situation... but hadn't he decided to stay away for a few days? But still, the person managed to find out Amon and through a series of coincidences and chances managed to make him buy the materials required for the clown potion and give it to Klein...
Of course, this might just be him thinking pessimistically...
But he couldn't just brush this off and ignore it when it might hurt Amon!
In the end, Klein had to force himself to go to sleep with the help of cognition.
