Early mornings are best to take walks,enjoy the scenery, and even take a bath in the lake you just found a few hours ago,why not?
No one's out yet,and they don't even know this place exists, no one's crazy enough to explore the mountain when it's been covered in thick snow for years.
And so that's exactly why Aster woke his heavily pregnant wife after he came back from his daily walk.
They lived away from the village, and the next town wasn't any close. They only visited for necessities.on top of that they didn't even leave the house as much now, unless we count his daily walks Eleanor always feared. The unknown areas must've been unknown for a reason,she believed.
So why did her husband wake her up so early in the morning when he knew she doesn't feel as comfortable going out nowadays. Not to mention her lack of sleep lately.
There was no arguing with him though,he was reasonable for the most part and they usually trusted each other.
That's why they were here now. The path was not so smooth for a woman who's expecting a baby any moment now,but the reward was worth it.
How come no one told them there's a lake nearby? And of warm water too? While they lived their lives relying on a river that always had a frozen layer on top?

He was right.a warm bath definitely helped calm her.and suddenly, staying here to give birth didn't sound like such a bad idea. And that's what they did. Fortunately for them,it took only a day for the pain to come. Just one night of sleeping in a tent, for their sweet little girl to be born, in the warm embrace of the water. Or was it?
Unfortunately for them,ever since their arrival, a pair of eyes was watching them closely. Counting the minutes before her patience was broken.

The lake was no longer warm and welcoming. Now it boiled as they were burning inside, a mother and her just born daughter,barely made it out alive.
They did not hear that voice again, for they did not waste a second to look back.
They only found themselves back home about an hour later, but did they really manage to escape?It surely wasn't gonna get worse for them,right?
