Chapter 16 - Female Intuition

Ainz displayed a very reassuring demeanor. "Please rest assured, leave it to us. This is a special, free aid."

The Village Chief calmed down slightly, his gaze firm, as if he was prepared to go all out.

Sig put on his helmet, his armor clanking crisply, and pushed open the door. "Since Ainz is going to protect you, I won't stand by and do nothing either."

The Village Chief hesitated to speak. He had heard Ainz say that his companions had gone to deal with the enemies outside the village, which was why they hadn't appeared. He couldn't neglect them because of this; he also had to express his gratitude.

"He is Sigris Helausvaerger, my most trusted companion, but he doesn't like to be called Sigris. Just call him Sig."

Perhaps because the Village Chief showed exceptional respect for his companion, Ainz's mood improved considerably, and his tone softened a lot, almost becoming gentle.

"That's right." Sig, who had already walked out of the room, turned his head to respond.

The Village Chief asked in surprise, "Is Lord Sig's hearing that good?"

"Hahaha, that's basic. Among the people I know, Sig is one of the best warriors, perhaps even the best." Ainz couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Ainz couldn't say for sure who was stronger, Touch Me or Sig; they basically never had a PvP match.

In the guild, Sig was very low-key, focusing only on farming bosses and doing quests. Only when he was free would he spar a little with him, who was online for long periods.

Both of them had a collecting Hobbies, so they had quite a bit in common, but he preferred to collect rare items and creatures, while Sig liked to collect all kinds of equipment.

The Village Chief nodded blankly, seemingly not understanding at all.

In the Re-Estize Kingdom, commonly known as The Kingdom, Gazef Stronoff, The Warrior Captain of The Kingdom, was leading a troop of cavalry, gradually approaching.

Sig stood casually behind him. He had no interest in Gazef at all. Ainz might appreciate such an upright person, but he would only feel bored.

The Kingdom's Warrior Captain had no utilitarian value and was destined to become a sacrifice; there was no need to waste time on him.

Gazef scanned everyone and quickly noticed Sig. Perhaps because he was also a warrior, he could sense something different and stared for a long time.

Finally, he fixed his gaze on Ainz. "And you are?"

Ainz stopped the Village Chief, who was about to speak. "There's no need to trouble yourself. I am Ainz Ooal Gown, a magic caster, and my companion and I saw the village in distress, so we came to help."

Sig then said, "I am Sigris Helausvaerger, Warrior Captain."

Gazef dismounted and bowed deeply to the two. "Thank you very much for saving this village."

"Don't say that. We are adventurers on a journey, and we're still doing it for the reward."

"Forgive my ignorance, I haven't heard of your names, but Lord Hralsvelgr's attire is very similar to that of a legendary hero."

Because he had a senior he knew who was one of the Thirteen Heroes, he had heard many heroic deeds from her, and the Silver Knight left the deepest impression on Gazef.

For some reason, that senior always seemed dissatisfied whenever she spoke of the Silver Knight, saying he had done unforgivable things and that she would scold him again next time they met, which meant the Silver Knight was also still alive.

Someone with such strength and wearing silver armor, he couldn't think of anyone else besides the Silver Knight. Perhaps the unforgivable thing was abandoning his companions, no wonder Senior Rigrit was so angry.

Being mistaken for him a second time, Sig felt it was a bit too coincidental. The armor color might be somewhat similar, and some of the decorations indeed had dragon elements, but this was truly just a coincidence.

"That's quite a coincidence." Sig said lightly, neither admitting nor denying it.

Seeing that he was unwilling to speak, Gazef no longer pressed the issue. Whether it was that person or not, it was not something he could control. He then turned his attention to Ainz, asking a series of questions.

Ainz felt a headache coming on for a moment and had to explain seriously, even mentioning the ambush, but he did not mention the Sunlight Scripture.

This was the result of Sig and Ainz's discussion. Rather than letting rumors spread, it was better to let the Warrior Captain act as a messenger and leave a good impression on The Kingdom's rulers. They couldn't do good deeds and not let people know, right?

"I see. It's highly likely they were targeting me. They are from the Slane Theocracy, clearly members of their special unit, the Six Colors Scripture. It's troublesome that they had to use the noble faction."

Gazef sighed, maintaining a calm and composed appearance on the surface, but inwardly he breathed a huge sigh of relief.

Could this person, who was suspected to be the Silver Knight, have specifically rescued him out of consideration for Senior Rigrit? If so, the probability of him being the person himself was even greater.

During the conversation, Sig quietly left. He walked to an unnoticed corner, and an Eight-Legged Blade Assassin appeared.

Because it was an invisible monster, even with its eye-catching appearance, no one noticed it.

"Lord Sig, please follow me."

Walking deeper into the forest, Sig saw Mare and Aura. Both of them looked very happy when they saw him, especially Mare.

"Um, Lord Sig, is there something you need from me and my sister?" Mare asked in a soft voice.

Aura jumped down from the tree and landed lightly on the ground. "Mare, you need to be more respectful to Lord Sig. What kind of attitude is that?"

Sig waved his hand. "It's fine. The Guildmaster is dealing with The Kingdom's Warrior Captain. I felt bored, so I came to find you. You don't need to be so respectful in front of me."

Aura's eyes sparkled, and she said energetically, "Lord Flying Squirrel and Lord Sig must have handled everything perfectly, right? How amazing! As expected of the Supreme Beings!"

Sig ran his hand through Aura's soft hair, rubbing her head like he was coaxing a child. "The Guildmaster has changed his name to this to promote the name of Ainz Ooal Gown. From now on, you should call him Lord Ainz."

"Is that so!" Aura's face looked like it was about to boil, steam rising from it.

Mare clutched the staff in his hand. Before his expression could change, Sig quickly rubbed his head as well. "Mare, do you know too?"

"Yes... yes!" Mare nodded. "But... do the Guardians all know? We won't be the last to find out, will we?"

Sig smiled and shook his head. "No, you are the first to know. Remember to keep it a secret. The Guildmaster will gather everyone to announce this."

Aura covered her mouth in surprise. "We won't blurt it out."

Mare lowered his head, blushing and secretly chuckling. "The first, hehehe."

"Okay, I'll head back now. You two should also prepare to retreat." Sig heard that things were almost over there, so he gave a quick instruction and hurried away.

Aura raised her hand and held her head. "Why did Lord Sig tell us such an important thing? Oh, right, Mare, you seem to really like Lord Sig. You always initiate conversations."

Mare tilted his head. "Lord Bubble Teapot set it up that way, saying that cunning people attract each other."

"What does that mean?"
