Chapter 20 - Funny Sister Appears

As night fell, a shadowy figure swiftly moved through the alleyways, her wide black robe completely concealing her in the darkness, seemingly in a hurry as if avoiding something.

The face beneath the black robe was lovely, with a pair of curious, intelligent eyes and a hint of golden hair peeking out. Her agile movements were like a cat's, yet possessed the power of a predator.

Not far away, heavy footsteps slowly approached.

In the quiet night, every subtle sound became exceptionally clear. The scraping of armor against the wall was amplified several times, as if it were right beside her ear.

For Clementine, who had extensive combat experience, detecting the other party's presence was easy, but she did not immediately attack.

She pretended to be cornered in a dead end, pulled out her short dagger, revealing her bikini-like armor and her shapely figure in full view. "Alright, let's see who dares to track this lady."

She was certain that the tracker was not from the Black Scripture; it must be some clueless adventurer. Such a clumsy pursuit was clearly the work of an amateur.

In such a narrow space, a long sword would be impossible to wield, but it was highly advantageous for her, a thrusting warrior. She hoped this person wouldn't be too boringly weak.

"Oh, was I discovered so quickly?"

Sig did not have specialized search skills; his keen five senses allowed him to clearly perceive an enemy's location, but this couldn't compensate for the inability to track stealthily.

Solution should have come; she was a master of assassination.

"No emblem, I thought it was an adventurer. Turns out it's a nosy knight."

Clementine was initially uninterested, but upon seeing the other party's handsome, upright appearance, her face broke into a smile. "What's your name? My name is Clementine. It's a pleasure to meet you."

"You can call me Ilay when we're outside, Miss Clementine?" Sig wasn't sure what to call her, so he tried tentatively.

Clementine smiled broadly, but it could no longer be called a smile. "No one calls me that anymore. I finally know why I don't like you; you're just like my perfect brother."

She was once the Ninth Seat of the Black Scripture, "Gale Runner," and was siblings with the Fifth Seat, "One-Man Army," but their relationship was far from good.

In the eyes of her family, she, who had once been captured, was a complete failure, an object of ridicule and a negative example.

Her parents were extremely biased towards her excellent brother. Even after enduring such torture and witnessing her friends die before her eyes, they never spoke a word of concern. All their love was given to her brother.

To be honest, she really couldn't say she liked that perpetually calm and perfect smiling brother.

Clementine threw off her cloak and assumed a combat stance. "I originally intended for you to die quietly, but I've changed my mind. I'm going to slowly torture you to death."

"Can you do that?"

"Huh?" Clementine showed an expression of displeasure. "In this country, only one person from Crimson Drop and one from Blue Rose, along with Gazef Stronoff and Brian Anglaus, can defeat me. Can you, an unknown nobody, defeat me, Clementine, who has already stepped into the heroic realm?"

"I came to meet you with the intention of changing your tragic and sinful fate. Don't think of me as a bad person, Miss Clementine," Sig said with a smile.

Clementine was cruel and ruthless, but that didn't mean she was brainless. "Are you from Theocracy?"

The fact that she was a defector was known only to the country's people. Where did this person in front of her get his information?

"To alleviate your concerns, you can attack me as much as you want. I will absolutely not retaliate." Sig spread his hands, showing no intention of drawing the short sword at his waist.

Clementine hesitated for a few seconds, then licked her short dagger with her tongue and slowly lowered her waist. "Then, since you insist, I shall oblige. Just a heads up, don't blame me if you die."

[Strength Reinforcement]

As soon as her words fell, she charged out at an extremely fast speed. The powerful burst of force created a gust of wind, and the sharp dagger thrust directly towards his unprotected shoulder.

First, I'll make it so you can't swing your sword, then I'll slowly torture you, hehe.

In just the blink of an eye, Sig's vision was filled only with Clementine's face. No wonder she was called the 'Comical Sister.'

From his perspective, Clementine seemed to be resolutely throwing herself into his embrace, but his eyes could see all her movements. Realizing her target was his shoulder, he raised his hand and blocked the attack.

"You'll rip my clothes."

Clementine froze for a moment, then activated [Flowing Water Acceleration], shifting her center of gravity and smoothly retreating several meters away.

Using a combat skill meant for attack to escape was absolutely shameful, but the scene she witnessed made her forget that.

The short dagger, imbued with magic, was broken…

"How is that possible! You must have used a defensive combat skill! I know, you deliberately lured me into attacking you, and then took the opportunity to destroy my weapon!"

Clementine's hysterical voice made Sig feel a bit annoyed. She was so cute, and a beauty when expressionless, so how did she end up like this?

Clementine's body trembled involuntarily. The fear of the unknown made her consider fleeing, but her pride wouldn't allow her to beg for mercy.

She unleashed several more combat skills, adjusting her state to the optimal, and shot out like an arrow from a bowstring. However, what she held in her hand was not a short dagger, but a flail called Morning Star.

With her first-rate warrior's aptitude, Clementine calmed her emotions, losing her playful demeanor. This time, her first move was aimed directly at Sig's head.

Sig had no intention of dodging, allowing the flail to strike his temple. The spikes could not advance even a millimeter into his skin.

"Die!"

Clementine switched to an enchanted short dagger and thrust it towards his eye, immediately preparing to activate the second-tier lightning magic sealed within it.

"Let's stop playing around. Even for me, my eyes are a weakness."

Golden pupils slowly opened in the darkness. The short dagger sparked against the scales, and the seemingly intimidating lightning only ruffled his silver-gray hair slightly.

"A Lizardmen? No, you're a hybrid of human and dragon!" Clementine said in horror.

"Hmm? Is your guess that accurate? Although it's wrong, I should praise you." Sig didn't expect Clementine to guess his race.

However, after all, she inherited the blood of the Six Great Gods. Although she hadn't awakened as a God-kin, she certainly had broader knowledge than ordinary people.

Sig said kindly, "Can we talk properly now? I want to make a deal with you. Although I'll kill you if you refuse, don't you want to hear the benefits?"

Clementine unconsciously swallowed. She finally understood what kind of creature she was fighting: a humanoid dragon monster.
