Chapter 18 - The Crownless Prince

"Did that guy just ghost me? How dare he!" he grumbled, tightening his grip.

"I promised my brother that I will change, I will never let someone trample over me!" He mumbled, his hands twitching uncontrollably

He opens his wardrobe, choosing one of the many garments present.

"Ah, this one looks good. I know it's not even close to what a prince would wear, but I like it." He muttered under his breath.

"How do I even wear this? This is making me go crazy!"

After managing to wear it properly for half an hour.

He goes towards the door and opens it.

The same passage as yesterday is in front of him.

When he steps out of his room.

Every single knight looks at him, bewildered.

"Huh, wasn't he unconscious?"

"That's what I heard."

"He hadn't left his room for a whole three days!"

"Wait, is that even him? Why is he even wearing an armor set?"

Aiden twitches at the murmurs about him.

"What are these idiots saying. I must teach them a lesson for talking behind my back." He mumbles, expressing clear frustration.

"How dare you speak without my permi-–"

Without warning

Every single guard takes up a fighting stance.

"Who are you? What did you do to his highness!" They all said in unison, not skipping a single beat.

"You all must have lost your minds for pointing your weapons at a royal member." A young voice rang through the corridor.

"But, your highness, he is not the crown prince!" A guard mumbled to the mysterious figure.

Through the shadows emerged a girl who appeared to be in her early teens.

"What is a young kid doing here?" Aiden mumbled.

"A young kid? So the physician told the truth." The girl muttered under her breath, her eyes started to well up.

"Have you forgotten who I am, brother! I can't believe you!" Her voice rang through the empty gallery, trembling slightly.

"Brother? I do not have a sister. My family died years ago." Aiden's voice stood resolute.

The guards loosened their hold on their weapons, unsure of the person before them.

He turned away from her, leaving his black in clear sight. As he was walking away from the commotion caused by him, a second young voice echoed through the castle.

"Who dares sadden my sister!" His voice resounded, unshaken.

The guards pointed their fingers at Aiden.

Aiden didn't even stop; he doesn't give a crap about what's happening behind him. His goal is to grow stronger, and whoever steps in his way, he'll trample on him and make his life hell.

"Hey! Ignoring royal authority is treason! Guards! Restrain him." The young male voice didn't back down. Rather, he only grew louder.

The guards, confused about the situation, hadn't taken a single step.

"Wait! Don't do that! He is the crown prince!" The first youthful voice sounded again.

"Crown prince? Have you gone insane! You must be joking with me!"

"But he is! You're the one here who doesn't recognize our brother!"

"Do you even think that older brother would come out of his room?! Did you forget he hadn't woken up for the last 3 days!"

This argument has carried on for a long time.

Both, ignorant of the fact that Aiden had already left their sight.

Moments later, Aiden is shown entering the training ground.

The clang of his boots announced his arrival.

"Huh, who is this?"

"Is it a new recruit to the team?"

"That can't be, the recruitment period has ended long ago."

The instructor glanced at the approaching figure, wary.

"Who are you?! You're bold if you think you can kill all of us here!"

"Kill? Have you forgotten who your master is?" Aiden gripped his helmet, removing it entirely, exposing his identity.

"Huh, his highness? Why are you walking around wearing that armor set?" The instructor grumbled.

"Do you need to know that? I have my reasons." Aiden muttered, his face reflecting the sun.

"No, not at all, your highness."

Aiden puts his helmet on, hiding his face once again.

The sulbrand's hilt glowed in his scabbard, hanging at his belt.

He dropped to the ground.

His arms are carrying him up.

He starts practicing pushups.

"I must grow my strength to handle my sword's weight."

For an entire hour, he pushed himself through nonstop training.

A total of 267 push-ups were completed.

"I'm not resting! I won't give up!"

12 hours have gone by.

Aiden is still practicing his pushups.

"4197… 4198… 4199… 4200. Hah, finally, I finished my daily goal. Now to my sword daily pity."

He stands up.

His hands were trembling from the pain of working out for 13 hours straight. But he still pushed through the pain.

He stands up, almost falling off balance, unsheathing his blade, he starts relentlessly swinging at the air.

"I must grow stronger! In order to beat this game once and for all!" He shouted at the top of his lungs.

Another 12 hours have gone by; it is now midnight.

Aiden isn't standing on his legs anymore. He is sprawled on the ground, unable to move a muscle in his body.

"Tha-t must have don-e it! I'll just sleep here. What's the shame in it anyway?" He mumbles to himself, stopping to catch his breath between every word.

His hands are bleeding heavily. New blisters have opened.
