Aiden opened his eyes. His allies were nowhere to be seen. He was alone, lying on a massive bed made of fine silk. Its size was incomprehensible, double that of a normal one.
Aiden mumbled to himself, "Where am I?" In front of him lay all kinds of luxury items he wouldn't have even dreamed of—a necklace made entirely of gold and gemstones, and a giant wardrobe housing ancient engravings. An extravacant swo–.
"Wait, isn't that the 'Solbrand' my future self used.
Then he remembered what he had told him.
"I almost forgot this. This is a gift from me."
He had tossed the sword right at his feet, and as the present Aiden picked it up, reality shifted around him.
He stood up and ran toward the window. He felt nauseous as he looked down; he was so high up that he almost vomited. "Why am I so high up? I'm about to throw up!" Then he realized he was in a castle. Below him, multiple wooden houses dotted the landscape.
Suddenly, in the far distance, a silhouette caught his eye. The figure, dressed in black, blended perfectly with the surroundings. In a flash, the figure disappeared.
"Am I hallucinating again? No, that can't be right. Everything around me is dangerous. I must be wary of everyone."
"Hello, your highness! It's time for your swordsmanship class. You can't skip any more classes!" A feminine voice called from outside the door.
"Huh? What should I do? What should I do?!" Aiden panicked. He was still in his pajamas and couldn't go out like this! He frantically searched his surroundings for clothes to change into.
"Oh, the wardrobe! How could I forget about that?" He opened it wide, but what he found inside shocked him. The wardrobe was filled with lavish, noble garments, mostly ceremonial outfits.
"Huh?!! What is this? I can't wear these!" he cursed under his breath, desperately trying to find something suitable.
"Your highness? Are you alright?" the voice behind the door sounded worried. Aiden had almost forgotten about the presence outside.
"Ah, yes, yes. I'll be right there!" he replied, his voice shaking.
"Please come straight away to the training grounds, your highness."
"I'll come out right away!" Aiden said nervously.
And then, a shiny metal caught his eye.
It was a full set of armor.
"I guess this is what I'm going with."
He struggled a lot trying to wear it.
"How can I wear this?! This is making me angry!"
After a while.
He finally managed to wear it the right way.
"This is so damn stuffy!" He grumbled with a hint of anger in his voice.
He picked up his sword, 'Solbrand'
"Whenever I hold this blade, I feel like I'm getting devoured by something." He mumbled to himself.
Then he walked forward towards the door.
He opened it.
A large, fancy hallway greeted him.
Guards around every corner, prepared for any scenario.
"Whoa… This place is enormous!" He thought.
Every single knight bowed their heads once they saw him.
Like he was some kind of royalty.
"Wait? Have I become some kind of royal?" He questioned himself.
It all adds up, from the clothes to the room to the behavior his receiving from the other people.
Aiden tensed up, not by fear but by happiness.
"Yes! Finally! This game, I'll do nothing! Just rest!" He shouted, alerting some stares.
"Are you okay, your highness?" A knight without a helmet came up to him.
"Ah, yes, I am okay, thank you for being worried about me."
The man sighed in stress.
"I am here to escort you to the training grounds. Your father has been very angry about you skipping them." The knight mumbled politely.
"My father?" Aiden froze. He had never thought of his father after that devastating car crash that stole his dreams and family.
"Yes, your father." The knight replied, a bit confused.
"We cannot waste any more time on pointless chatter. Please follow me." The guard mumbled, a hint of anger in his voice.
They made their way to the training grounds.
A stinky smell lingered in the air. It was sweat.
Every single person was pouring all their strength, trying to cut the dummy in half.
Suddenly, everyone started staring at Aiden.
Some whispering about him.
Some are bewildered by Aiden's presence.
"Why is he here?"
"I thought he did nothing but sleep."
"I heard he doesn't even leave his room."
A loud voice rang out.
"What are you all looking at! Go back to traini– Ah, look who decided to show up."
The knight escorting Aiden turned back, heading for the way out.
"I guess this variant of mine had quite the rumors. I hadn't expected to deal with something like this on my first day." Aiden glared at him.
"Yes, I decided to show up today. You got a problem with that?" He grumbled.
"No, not at all, your highness, I'm simply shocked by your arrival. Now that you're finally here, how about I measure your current strength? It has been a while since you ever picked up a sword. Hey, you there, I've chosen you to duel with the prince." He said, a whisper of malice present in his voice.
"Me?! Why me, instructor?" The person questioned the instructor nervously.
"Don't question me! Go to the arena!" He shouted.
As Aiden made his way to the arena, he unsheathed his sword.
But he realised something.
The sword was super heavy; he couldn't even balance it properly.
His legs trembled under the weight.
"Ugh… Even though this is the same body as mine, I haven't thought that it would be surprisingly weaker than my previous variant!"
He grumbled in pain, but still climbed the stairs leading to the arena.
Eyes lingered around him, mocking him for his weakness.
"Look at him, he can't even handle the sword properly."
"It looks like he can't even move around with that sword."
But Aiden, still pushing through the pain.
Poured all his strength into a single lift.
He lifted the sword and pointed it at his opponent.
"Bring it on."
