Eastern gate. First ring.
Wesley and Desker came to a closed door, the door had logo on it that Wesley did not get. He decided not ask about it since Desker would explain everything later. Desker removed a small black looking square metal with patterns from his pouch and placed it on the door.
'This is the guardian token. You can not enter this guardian branch without a token.'
'We used to be under the control of the city lord but a few years ago, the city lord decided to hand over the guardian affairs to the miner organization, can't say you are lucky because I do not know what is going on with this city anymore.' Desker sighed out despondently as the door shimmered out of existence and an entrance appeared before them like magic.
Wesley had a shocked look on his face.
'Tresse used to just snap its fingers and we would be somewhere, that would be explainable because of the space rules but this, he did not know what mechanism made a door disappear' Wesley felt a bubble of excitement in him as this was something new to him.
'Come on lets go' Desker tapped on his shoulders and led him inside. They found themselves in a huge spacious room with other warriors inside. Some were seated on chairs and laughing with each other while having drinks, some were looking at stones with glowing blue lights and others would be found standing at a counter where a beautiful woman in gray robes that accentuated her curves was attending to them.
All these warriors had the same type of robes that Desker was putting on with some putting on masks and others without.
Desker led him straight to the counter. When they reached the counter, Wesley could feel nervousness being emitted from Desker, he just stood there and waited for the woman to notice them.
Wesley could hear the other warriors asking about upgrades and new communications stones and if the mines would be closed or not.
'Lets wait a bit" Desker said as he sent a nervous look towards the lady and when he did, their eyes met and the woman paused a bit, she rolled her eyes and ignored them. Wesley realized that she and Desker knew each other, he brushed Desker with his shoulder.
'Who is she?' he whispered.
'Close your mouth and do not ask' he said as his face became pale. Wesley looked at the lady again, she had paused as if waiting for an answer. 'huh' she can hear our conversation from all the way there' Wesley thought in wonder.
After a while of not answering, the woman sashayed to their side. She looked to be in her twenties, had short blue hair with blue eyes and fair white skin.
'He he, my brave warrior is back' she said as she laughed sarcastically. 'I thought you would be among the first batch of warriors to leave this city since you are so good at running,' she continued as she looked at Desker with something like hurt in her eyes.
Wesley was asking himself at how she could recognize Desker with the mask still on his face. He took a step back in order to let the woman talk. This step brought her eyes towards him. Wesley felt like he had been locked on to by a predator and he froze.
'And who is this, Desker, he looks too innocent to be around you?' Her cherry lips opened and asked in a beautiful voice.
'Hum mm, he is a kid I picked up outside. He is called Lesly and he wants to join us.' Desker answered with his his head slightly lowered avoiding her eyes.
'Now that is wonderful, a courageous man willing to help out' she finally smiled when she heard that.
'Which level are you, young man?' Wesley did not know what to tell the lady so he looked towards Desker.
When the lady saw the look, she also turned her eyes to Desker. Desker was almost sweating by now, he really did not want to meet the woman. He wanted to finish up everything with Wesley very fast and run away from her.
'He is at my level, and he has never trained before but has divine strength.' he finally answered for Wesley. The woman was shocked since Wesley looked a bit younger than Desker. Wesley looked to be in his twenties and she was wondering why he had never trained before. She looked at Desker and when she the nervous look in his eyes, she decided to let it go.
'Hmm, do you have a communication stone?' she asked Wesley. He shook his head in denial.
'No problem, for his sake I will give you one.' she said as she took out a stone with patterns inscribed on it from a blue pouch that was tied to her waist.
'Refine it and ask for Desker for his communication details. This is just a lower grade communication stone so you can not send information through it. If you want one that is better, you will have to have to buy it with credits.'
'Now, get this' she pulled out a simple scroll and handed it to him. 'this an entry technique used in the body refining stage. Desker will take you to your quarters to start your training and welcome to our small crew of remaining guardians.'
'You should also get a storage pouch' she added on as she saw Wesley just holding onto the scroll and the stone.
'Now shoo, go away. I have many things to do"
Desker looked up as she left their side, he looked like he wanted to say something to her but hesitated. He let out a sigh and shook his head.
'Lets go'
As Wesley followed him out, he looked back at the counter and found the woman was staring at them.
He shifted his eyes to Desker and asked again
'Who is she?'
'Oh, that is Shren, the captain of the guards in the first ring. She is also is my wife and if I know her better, she is going to assign you to my group' Desker chuckled but you could see he was disturbed form meeting his wife.
'What ?"Wesley was shocked at the revelation.
