Back in front of Ashvale Asylum, as Levi's grip around the duffle bag tensed, he knew he wasn't going to walk away.
An abandoned asylum on the edge of town, it's giant structure blocking all the moonlight in reaching him. But the full glow of the moonlight perfectly behind the building making it's edges shimmer in the dark.
The vampire finally told him the location of the hive, around the time his face melted off after hours.
With the bag clenched in his hands he stepped into the creaky rusted gates, each step heavily crunching over dried up leaves littered all over the floor. The trees on the grounds completely void of life.
His heart trembling, no matter how hard he tried to hide it he was terrified, he knew he would most likely die here.
'This is a monumentally dumb idea,' Levi muttered to himself.
He got on the fore-steps as the shards of glass trembled under his weight, he looked up— the windows above broken and the curtains flaring out freely with the wind.
He pushed the doors outside as the creaking echo reverberated throughout the building—if they didn't already know he was here, they do now.
He proceeded through the reception hall, every corner covered with dust and spiderwebs, he moved on non deterred as the heads of sweat began to form on his brow.
He continued to move up the steps at the right leading to the next floor, then he finally heard it—
The scratching of feet past the floor, quick—too quick.
'They're watching me.'
He thought to himself as he dropped the bag on the floor as he dropped to a knee and rummaged through it.
The scratching on the floors increased.
He continued unfazed, before finally pulling out two grenade-like object, he pulls the pins and tosses them onto the floor and the gas mechanism starts to spray the gas, fast.
The upstairs led to a long narrow corridor as the gas covered half floor like a mist like texture, the smell—
Garlic.
"Khh-khh!"
The first vampire finally let in as it stumbled out one of the rooms gripping its throat and crawling on the floor.
He went down again as he grasped something else, he picked out a set of brass knuckles, makeshift, rustic look like welded at home with spikes of a blue liquid dipped all over it.
Slowly they all fell out from the doors, coughing and choking, garlic bombs aren't enough to kill them, just enough to blind the weak ones and weaken the strong ones.
His steps were heavy as if savouring every moment, before finally getting to a vampire who was on all fours with its head raised— struggling for a breath, as he brought down his knuckles in one terrifying arc.
Its scream echoed louder through the room as he brought his head down, it wasn't dead but it couldn't move anymore.
He continued to march, hitting everyone who stood in front of him as he kept marching, now at the third floor.
BAM—
His back was instantly slammed against the walls, its claws digging into his shoulder, as the pain bloomed, for the first time he let out a gasp.
"I always knew hunters were dumb but how retarded are you to think you can take out a hive alone?" It spat.
That was the first time Levi noticed it, the icy blue eyes that gleamed in the night contrasting his purple and he wasn't affected by the garlic bombs so it was clear...
This was a D-Class Vampire.
---
Vampires are divided into ranks based on their strengths, weaknesses and overall appearance.
* F-Class - Starved/Feral
Newly turned and the most fragile phase of vampires, if they don't feed within 24 hours they die off.
Slightly enhanced strength and speed above humans, minor night vision but fragile bones as their bodies are basically being reshaped and extremely low regeneration.
Weaknesses: Sunlight, Decapitation, Prolonged Garlic and Salt exposure, Iron, Silver, Mercury poisoning, Stake to the heart, Invitation Rule (basic rule of vampires), Rosemary and burning.
Kink: Prone to madness if not fed within 48 hours (most die if not fed within 24 hours but the rare ones who survives, go crazy). Normal eye colour.
* E-Class - Newly Turned(after first feeding)/Thrall.
Just after first feeding, Stronger than humans (2 - 3x), basic regeneration, heightened senses. Overwhelmed by hunger, urges and compulsions (By A and S Class vampires).
Sickly yellow eyes.
Weaknesses: Controlled by Hunger, Overwhelmed by Senses, Vulnerable to all known repellents ( and Unbelievable Naive to the true nature of vampires).
* D-Class - Common Vampires.
Common repellents are more like allergies.
Superhuman Strength (5x human), instant regeneration of minor wounds and poisoning resistance (depending on the poison), enhanced senses (can even hear heartbeats).
Weaknesses: Still must feed every few nights or face decomposition, still burn up in the sun.
They make up the bulk of vampires. Icy blue eyes.
* C-Class - Nobles.
Efficient feeders, capable of storing reserves in body.
Advanced regeneration (limbs grow back over days), speed fast enough to blur, Hypnotism (can hypnotise weak minded people), full control of vampire metabolism.
This is also where the empathy completely dies off, humans are seen and regarded in the same light as livestock and plants. Completely black eyes.
Weaknesses: Seconds exposure to sunlight causes searing pain.
* B-Class - High Vampires.
Can survive weeks without constant blood consumption (makes use of reserves).
Basically Immortal, regeneration near instant (organs reform within hours), can hypnotise most and even newly turned, enhanced reflexes beyond human perception, invisibility starts here with the about to manipulate cells(shape shifting).
Repellents are useless except Rosemary and extreme doses of mercury poisoning. Silver eyes when fully turned.
Weaknesses: When reserves run out require huge litres of blood.
* A-Class - Progenitors.
Can metabolize blood more efficiently, needing less frequent feeding.
Regenerate entire body overnight, can blood read (absorb memories), can track people with just a scent of their blood over kilometres, resistant to most repellents even stakes to the hearts only causes paralysis.
Can survive in the day as long as sunlight is not direct. Crimson red eyes.
Weaknesses: Extended starvation leads to catastrophic stem cell collapse (dusting), Fire and Decapitation still effective.
* S-Class - Primordials/ Motherfuckers.
Can last years without feeding.
Perfect regeneration, even when turned to ashes as long as there's a drop of blood left—regeneration continues, complete bioelectrical field manipulation ( full hypnosis ranging from humans to B-Class vampires, dream intrusion and induced hallucinations). Can survive in the sun.
[Eye Colour Varies]
Weaknesses (if any 😂): Requires vast amounts of blood (sometimes entire towns). If starved, they may collapse into hibernation for years.
Vampires can grow in Class based on the amount of blood consumption but will never ever reach S-Class, only the original eight test subjects of the "Darwin Serum", named to pay homage to the father of evolution.
Apart from these classes there has been no other variation or varieties of vampires, it wasn't possible, they were all from the same serum—until Levi Kane, the abnormality.
