"8 minutes 34 seconds... A new record."
She shrugged off, barely even facing him.
Levi sat pushed up against the door as his leg kept on bleeding, but never took his eyes off here.
"Who are you?"
She placed a hand on her hip as she answered, "Selene... Selene Foster."
He wiped the stagnant pool of sweat and blood on his brow as he blinked profusely at her.
"Any other questions... Cause I'm already getting bored of this," her eyes never fully opened all the way like she was always giving the bare minimum.
"Where am I?"
Levi spoke as the irritation in his tone grew more noticeable, holding his shin as the pain crawled higher and higher.
She glanced at the disaster he'd done to escape passing out, stepping to the side to avoid the blood trail stretching across the floor.
"Oh... Let me help with that," she pulls the stopwatch from her pocket then she pushed down the bottom at the top.
Hoooo—
As an eerie chill filled the air, the temperature dropped instantly as goosebumps rippled down Levi's body, from head to toe.
Slowly his heaving chest slowed, every blink heavier and his entire movement dragged.
He tried to raise a brow but he wasn't in control of his body anymore, as if it was just following the routine now, time was stopping— No, it was regressed.
He was still in control of his mind but his body and environment were all in her domain, like recreating a scene, his body trailed back all its movement until—
He blinked.
"Hhhhhh—AHHhh!"
Levi's eyes went wide open as he regained consciousness.
He was back at the very beginning, his ankle was healed, his thumb numb but fine and his vision swarming.
The only thing out of place from the original scene was HER, she was still there as she strutted over to the chair before dragging it in front of him.
Just a few inches away from her as she crossed her feet, her gaze and his meeting at the centre.
"So now you know my name, so... What's yours?," she slightly tilted her head.
'That's dumb... They definitely know who I am, no one has that much power without information... But what was that?—Time travel?... Pfft—doesn't exist yet, Th—'
Tchk!
Her finger snap thundered throughout the room, startling Levi.
Levi snapped back, "I'm getting sick of this, listen lady you know exactly who I am so stop whatever this game is."
She leaned back into the seat, legs crossed over one another, "Levi Kane, twenty years of age, Parents were Ethan and Claire Kane, little brother and sister Jamie and Ivery Kane... All deceased.
She paused after that, as the silence choked them.
Still upsidedown, he tightened his gaze, "so what?"
"Hmm.."
He continued, "why does that really matter?"
She leaned in, "Don't pretend it doesn't hurt... That's childish. It says that your entire family was killed by a hive raid..."
He cut her off, "why are you telling me this?"
She completely ignored him, "Your family was massacred by a hive and you were in a medically induced coma because of blood loss..." She raised a finger, "But you know what really stands out, your hair and your eyes."
His face reddening by the second, "I'm sorry but it's fucking hard to follow a conversation when I'm literally dangling from the roof."
Rolling her eyes in one swift motion she snapped her fingers twice, CLAP! CLAP!
Chrrr-chk-chk- THUD
Levi's body hit the ground as the chains instantly let loose at the cue of her clap.
He groaned as he slowly got up, letting the chains lie on the ground, "W-who are you people?"
"We're LUX, the Lightbourne Unit of Xenothreats."
Levi raised a brow, "what?"
"Yeah, a mouthful, I know,"
She slowly stood, "But you know the main reason why you're here and the reason my men didn't shoot you immediately we noticed the faintest trace of V-Mones off of you... Because I want to know who's dumb enough to go after a hive all by himself."
By now she was just a few inches away from him, although he didn't flinch apart from the pool of sweat plastered on his forehead you couldn't tell he was nervous.
As the questions piled up in his head, he couldn't help it anymore as he snapped, "what is this? What's V-Mones? And where am I?"
She raised three fingers next to him, answering every question as she dropped one, "Firstly, you're in LUX headquarters. Secondly, V-Mones are Vampire Pheromones, you see just like every creature vampires give off a particular signal— practically like their tell... The only distinguishing feature between them in the night and us in the night... At least the higher ones. And lastly, this is your interrogation/execution/recruitment... Depending on how this goes."
The irritation in his tone crawling higher and higher, "you're fucking crazy."
He turned—
She was still right in front of him.
Levi jumped back, startled, thinking to himself, 'I'm losing my mind.'
"Levi, you were in a coma for five years... What do you think happened in those five years."
A question he'd asked himself from the moment he woke up on the hospital bed with a journal full of knowledge embedded in him.
She pressed on, "five years ago we created the Darwin Serum and practically screwed ourselves over... If we did that five years ago what do you think we can do now?"
Levi said nothing as his mouth hung loosely agape.
" Vampirism spread, dropping the population by a third... They don't need to hide from the sun anymore as now they have helioguard— A black tar like liquid that blocks or reflects non-direct UV rays and allows them to walk in the sun."
She let out a soft chuckle, "Imagine that, Vampires in the fucking sun, their in every continent, every country, every town— fuck they're even in the government.
All because humans didn't want to deal with our problems naturally.
And what was the UN's retaliation — us, The LUX, funded by billions of dollars to maintain the vampire scourge that infects us all."
Levi finally raised his hand for her to stop, " what happened to my family's bodies?"
She glided her hand into her pockets, "it says in their file that they were burnt for precautionary measures, it was—"
His eyes nearly escaped his head, "You burnt my family's bodies?"
"We had to be sure, it's routine and the only way to keep everyone safe."
"Why?"
She replied, "why what?"
He continued, "why am I here? What do you people want from me?"
"What made up think you could take on a hive on your own? I don't work with people that have a death wish."
He clenched his jaw, "Because I hate every single one of them and I won't stop till they're all dead."
"And that's where our interests align, but first what are you Levi Kane?"
