If maki harukawa was to express her current situation it's trouble some.
She was enjoying a relaxing evening in her apartment bought by the assassin organization that she was reluctantly working for.
she got a call to take care of someone who was causing trouble for the organization in towa city.
This city is own by the towa group but honestly maki couldn't care less all she's here for is to assassinate some guy who was causing trouble for her organization and leave simple as that.
If she was being honest she didn't enjoy being an assassin it more of a forced life on her that she didn't get to choose and after days of harsh training and abuse and bloodshed she reluctantly became the ultimate assassin or as the organization calls her "miss ultimate assassin.
Maki remembered that she was mostly raced in an orphanage and her real parents are either dead or left her behind but she doesn't care at this point after killings and assigned killings she lost care for her own life she tried to leave but of course that didn't end well for her.
When she was a kid an attempted to escape they didn't feed her for two weeks and all she was allowed to get was water and that's all.
And now here she was in towa city doing another assignment.
But if there was one thing she was thankful about being a member of the organization is the network.
Two years ago there an event called the most awful most tragic event in human history caused by a girl named junko enoshima and her sister mukuro ikusaba.
Maki and other assassins had to get busy by eliminating any one of the followers of junko and others like them some died but maki being the ultimate assassin survived without a scratch.
They went into hiding but the organization saw the game junko was forcing students to participate in to kill each other with the fake promise of freedom.
Only 6 survived byakuya togami,makoto naegi,kyoko kirigiri,toko fukawa,Aoi asahina,yasuhiro hagakure who later were rescued and joined future foundation.
As for junko she killed herself in order to in her words experience despair in death.
And slowly future foundation started to get the world back in order but from what she'd gathered towa city actually the only part of the world that wasn't very effected by the tragedy.
But that aside maki had a mission and the target was in towa city.
She looked at her phone and saw the information that she received on the target aside from hair and eye color and gender everything else is unknown.
some caugh a picture it was of a boy possibly 17 or 18 years old with a black jacket with white lines black long pants and dark blue shoes.
His named is unknown and everything else in unknown no birth date no profile nothing.
Maki found this odd but she didn't question it too much not like he's gonna have long to live anyway.
She got intel on her target's position and she waited for night time that's were her skills improved.
When she had a visual on her target who was going in an alleyway maki had her sniper rifle with a silencer on aiming at her mark.
When she had a perfect shot she fired and she let the bullet fly and expect a dead body but to her surprise that didn't happened
What happened was that the target tilted his head to the side to let the bullet pass by and then got out a revolver and fired at her.
But to maki the bullet was a blur and it graced her cheek causing blood to flow out she didn't touched her wound because she was stunned by what happened.
And when she looked down she realized that he was looking at her exactly position and not willing to get caught she felt the scene but not giving up on her objective.
She treated her wounded cheek and went back to stalking her target who just walked deeper into the alleyway.
When she thought that she had a chance to assassinate him she went for it.
But to her surprise once again the target dodged out of the way of her knife and made her trip by swiping his leg and causing her balance to drop.
Fortunately she caught herself in a flip.
Target: you know if you want to kill me you should be more well prepared because I'm not exactly normal.
Maki didn't talk back an assassin doesn't need to chat to a soon to be corpse.
She lunged at him but the boy didn't look worried each knife strike she tried to hit or stab at him didn't connect all while the guy didn't even seen to be trying too much to dodge her attacks.
She then took out a gun and aimed at him but by the time she fired he was gone and behind her.
But before maki can turn and fire he punched her in the stomach hard but this wasn't a normal hard.
Maki dropped her weapons and grabbed at her hurting stomach while she coughed violently while a bit of vile builded up in her mouth.
She had to remove her mask to not get it dirty but after coughing she realized that she accidentally revealed her face at her target.
While she was still recovering from the literal gut punch she expected her target to finish her off but to her surprise she saw him walk away from her he must have noticed because he turned and gave her an amused look.
Target: what? You expected me to finish you off? Sorry but I'm not exactly looking for a fight also I can tell that you're not exactly into this.
Maki was surprised that this could read her but she grabbed her gun and aimed at him she didn't want anyone who knew her face to go and report her to the authorities.
Target: sorry but I'm not exactly in the mood to play so I hope you have a good sleep.
Maki was ready for her target get out his revolver and shoot her and she was ready to shoot the gun off his hands.
But to her surprise he disappeared and felt a blow on her and she was knocked out cold.
Her target caught her before she could hit the ground and put sat her down in a comfortable position in the alleyway and he put her mask back on her.
He then Started to walk away but then a girl that looked like an 11 year old floated beside him invisible to normal people and visible to him.
Moline: max why didn't you kill her like those other guys?
Max looked at the girl who was his adopted sister and thought about it and he only had one answer.
Max: because unlike them she didn't exactly gave off the vibes of a killer if anything she seemed reluctant but used to it. And unlike those other guys she seemed to have some humanity left those other guys looked thrilled to try and kill me.
Moline: doesn't help that you beat up one of their agents when you entered this world and now we have an organization of assassins coming at us.
Max: hey the guy tired to kill me and steal my money who unfortunately for him if he did managed to kill me it would be worthless here in Japan.
Moline: well good thing mom sat us through those Japanese language lesson otherwise we would be lost.
Max: you tell me.
When maki was knocked out she just felt a strong blow to her neck and her only thoughts before loosing consciousness was that the guy was probably going to kill her after giving her a chance to stop.
But when she woke up she was alive but she could feel a bruise on her stomach.
She checked if all of her stuff was on her and it was nothing was stolen.
But that just puzzled her all her life she learned that humans are creatures that only cause harm to others and her organization is the embodiment of that and she knew that she was beyond an angel.
And she expected the guy to kill her but he didn't. Instead he just knocked her out and left her in the alleyway alone.
She put those thoughts aside and tired to contact her employer but all she got was a voicemail and she noticed that her phone had zero connection which was odd because she knew well that her phone had connection when she looked up her target's info but now it was shut down.
She thought of two possibilities.
1: the organization somehow got the information from their sources that the ultimate assassin was killed or was beaten and they disowned her like an empty soda can.
Or 2: towa city is having technical difficulties.
If maki was to put her money on it's probably 2 the organization pretty much treats her like a prized possession so throwing her away is a stupid move.
Her thoughts were cut off when she heard screaming and crunching noises from the streets.
When she got out of the alley she saw dead bodies of man and woman in a bloody pool and what was the cause?
Maki: monokumas!?
Yes all over the streets were monokumas the same half black and white bear that junko was using as a cover to manipulate the students.
But now the question was why were there so many of them?
She went back into the alley and saw a staircase and decided to get a higher view point.
When she got to the roof she saw that it wasn't just the streets monokumas were swarming around inside buildings and outside killing anyone they see.
Maki saw people in black suits enter a building that was caught on fire but she didn't have time to worry about being caught by special forces.
She parkoured her way through roof tops and saw that all of toes city was swarmed by monokumas.
Maki: what the hell is going on?
If maki thought that this was some sort of joke by her target then it showed because this wasn't just an incident this was a massacre but she noticed something off.
Kids. girls and boys were wearing wierd helmets covering their heads completely with a monokuma symbol on the face.
Were these kid the cause of this?
She didn't have time to do anything because a nearby electronic billboard came to life and it showed a dead news reporter but then 3 kids appeared one with red hair and blue yes and another boy with a mask over his face and a girl with demon horn as an accessory.
Then a blue haired boy came next telling the others to stop playing with the dead body but then a green hair girl in a wheelchair appeared infront of the camera.
Maki felt a chill seeing all of this she was used to seeing crazy stuff like people killing others and gruesome deaths but this. This was bizarre to a whole new level.
Apparently these five children call themselves the warriors of hope which was questionable and thier objective was to create a paradise for children.
And what really sent maki over the edge was that they were the masters of the monokumas.
Maki: "i got to get out of here"
as if too make her worries sink monokumas started to climb the building and they ran towards her.
Maki took out her gun and knife and ran.
She's the ultimate assassin sure but that doesn't mean that she's pushing her luck against a hoard of robot killer bears.
The monokumas gave chase and she had to fight back.
However during her get away she got scratched on her leg which stung like hell and she was slowly overwhelmed by monokumas who slashed at her covering her in scratches.
During her fight she ran out of bullets and one of the monokumas tackled her out of the roof and she fell to the ground while rolling a bit.
She was surrounded by monokumas and her knife was knocked off her hands when she was tackled.
Maki expected to die during a mission or an attempt at revenge but not by monokumas she remembered the guy she came all the way here to kill and for once she wished not to take a mission.
She saw one of the monokumas jumping at her to finish her off and she closed her eyes because she lost too much blood and she was falling from the rooftop broke some bones and her head was ringing like crazy and she was loosing consciousness.
So she couldn't do anything to defend herself so she just closed her eyes and hoped that death was quick.
But before she passed out she heard a crash sound and she managed to see a familiar set of shoes.
(Max pov)
Max expected a normal day with no progress on getting home but to his surprise it went from normal to chaotic.
Half black and white bears killed people left and right.
and a few tried to attack him but of course he easily took care of them with a pipe.
While he helped some people including a girl in a school uniform who was scared he saw the broadcast of the warriors of hope and how the bears now called monokumas are under thier control and they planned to whipe out all adults.
Max was honestly surprised because out of all people to do this it's kids this world is more bizarre than he thought.
He could stop this but he honestly didn't want to get attention by any higher power in this world the assassins were enough Now having people in black suits after him would be a pain in ass.
He kept on saving some people from the monokumas and noticed some kids having wierd helmets with a monokuma logo on it.
Instead of attacking they just watched and some ran away.
Max could feel it the helmet is doing something to the kids no normal kid would want to kill thier own parents if they were decent people.
But he sensed a familiar presence near by and he saw the assassin who was trying to kill him surrounded by monokumas covered in cuts and bruises with a head injury.
One the bears was about to finish her off but max wasn't gonna let that happen.
With a burst of speed and a divisive blow from his pipe he destroyed the monokuma and he was standing protectively over the assassin.
Max looked at the monokumas and he thought the he can't protect her while fighting so he will have to have moline watching over her.
Max: hey moline do me a favor and watch over her while I take out the trash.
Moline materialized standing on the ground in a crisscross position while looking bored.
Moline: you better take care of these bots quick because honestly I want to try out some of those Japanese sweets.
Max: oh please you know damn well that you don't need to eat normal food.
Moline: well I enjoy the taste bite me.
One of the monokumas lunged at maki but moline turned in it's direction and open her hand and a red energy blast destroyed it.
Max turned to the other monokumas and he had an amused grin.
Max: I'll be honest I don't really fight tin cans but this is at least going to be a challenge.
He got into a ready stance not scared of the swarm of black and white bears.
Max: come at me!
With those words the monokumas lunged at him but max was a blur of black.
He destroyed the monokumas with very little effort and they were becoming smaller but more the fight more of the attention of the other monokumas nearby.
Max noticed this and he decided to get a bit serious.
The pipe in his grasp was imbued with black energy moline saw what he was going to do and she dragged the unconscious assassin away from the incoming damage.
The monokumas were coming in numbers quickly and max raised the pipe to the air while black energy erupted from it ready to explode when its wielder give the order.
Max knew that this would have consequences but there were too many moments monokumas so he will have to use a weaker blast attack.
Max: kiss your asses goodbye!!
With that he swung the pipe down and a wave of black energy blinded the streets of towa city and an mushroom cloud of an explosion that created a shockwave broke the windows of the buildings was visible from above.
This was a weak version of max's attack he just wanted to make it look like an explosion happened.
Back with max the dust became clear and he still had his pipe down but when he looked at he saw that it was melted he guessed that the energy output must have been too much for it.
Moline floats to his side and looks at the damage he caused.
Moline: was this really necessary?
Max: don't worry it would just look an explosion happened. Where's the assassin?
Moline: in an alleyway. I gave her some of the meds we had on us and her wounds and bones were healed but she still needs treatment.
Max: alright let's get out before more of those monokuma appear.
with that max carried the unconscious assassin and went to look for a place to hide in.
By the time maki would wake up in a world were her skills and morality were gonna be put to the test.
As for max he doesn't really have to do anything this isn't his world after all but honestly this could a bit of an interesting situation and he's curious on what's in store in this world.
When he first came here it was because some asshole in clown make up was causing disappearances and he took on the mission and he was caught off guard and transported to another world.
He's been here for in this world's time 6 days and he found out about the incidents compared to World War One and two this was ridiculous to a whole new level.
Now he's being caught in an incident that's caused by kids this is going to be one hell of a roller coaster.
