Chapter 37 - Love Is Weird

Sorrell checked out at night and headed home. Although he couldn't tell after taking a shower, Dame's Rocket scent was embedded in him deeply.

Aramin who was sitting on the sofa turned around as the door clicked open. Sorrell stopped breathing and he blinked rapidly before taking a deep breath and walking into the living room slowly.

"Where were you yesterday?" Aramin's expressions were cold. "You were not picking up calls either."

"There was an after party....."

"You don't even go to after parties," Aramin interrupted, standing up.

"My boss and colleagues were angry about not attending after parties," Sorrell placed his coat on the holder. "So I agreed to go just for once."

"So where did you stay all night?"

"At the..... restaurant," Sorrell stuttered nervously. "You know I am weak with alcohol, I passed out."

"And the whole day?"

"No, actually my colleague took me to.....

"Wait, you smell of foreign pheromones."

Sorrell's heart sank. "Do I? It must be from my colleagues."

"Go ahead and take a shower, I don't like it," Aramin growled, "That's unusual of you going out without even informing me."

"I am sorry, I forgot," Sorrell looked down before walking to the bedroom.

Aramin didn't notice, but Sorrell's whole body was trembling. If a possessive Alpha like Aramin was to find out about him getting marked by someone else, it might be a disaster and might end with Sorrell getting hurt seriously.

The next day at the dining table, Sorrell stole glances of him.

"Why? Do you have something to say?" Aramin's voice was low and rough.

"It's just I was wondering," Sorrell smiled awkwardly. "Don't mind me."

"Go ahead," Aramin leaned back, his gaze fixed at Sorrell.

"Hypothetically, just hypothetically, if we end breaking up later.....

"What?"

"Aramin, I am not saying....." Before Sorrell could speak further, a porcelain plate hit his head, breaking into pieces. Before Sorrell could get a grip of the situation, he was being dragged by his hair. What came next was a horrible nightmare as usual getting beaten up for hours. It was already a miracle that Sorrell was still alive at this point, regardless of the fact that he was an omega after all.

Corvin was sitting in his office in Corvin Pharmaceuticals. He couldn't stop thinking about Sorrell after that night. Not only that, he was worried about him, but his heart was already at its limits trying to keep a distance from Sorrell.

"President," Michael called, as he had been knocking but Corvin was lost in thoughts and couldn't hear.

"Enter," Corvin said looking at him.

"These are the lists of medicines that have been exported this month. The good news is that we have successfully developed medicine to heal physical bruises at a faster rate. It takes just two hours to completely heal even the severe wounds," Michael reported, placing the file at the table in front of Corvin.

"Could you please look into Sorrell."

"I was actually about to report it," Michael hesitated for a moment. "He was beaten again according to our agents living next to them. And it sounded serious this time."

Corvin's nose flared in anger as he got up from his seat and looked at the dragon drawing on the wall that almost filled the whole wall.

"Do you think I should just kill him?" Corvin asked, gritting his teeth.

"I think you should not," Michael replied, to which Corvin knitted his eyebrows, turning around to look at him. "If you do that, his omega will hate you forever," Michael completed his sentence timidly.

Corvin turned his back to him and closed his eyes, a failed attempt to ease his anger.

"Alright, you are dismissed now."

Only a week passed since Ronan went abroad, but Shael was already missing him. The whole house felt so empty without him. Shael opened his phone and started going through the pictures. He came across a picture of himself.

"How could I cheat when my boyfriend is this gorgeous."

Tears came out of his eyes, and he closed his phone. Ronan, I want to hug you. I hope you could remember everything. But it's okay if you don't remember, I will still love you.

Shael quickly wiped his tears and looked at the ceiling. Maybe I am stuck at home all day. I should go out. But I don't even have friends. At this moment he remembered Sorrell.

"Oh yeah," he called Sorrell.

"Yes, Mr. Shael." Sorrell's voice came through.

"Mr. Shael? I called because I wanted to hang out because you are my only friend, and look at you acting all distant." Shael pouted.

"I am just getting off work, should I pick you up from the house?" Sorrell asked.

"Yeah, but no pressure. If you are tired, you can just head home." Shael's voice was low.

"It's okay, my work has lessened since the new secretary and her assistant were assigned. Although I end up getting scolded more often. Maybe I can rant about it when we meet."

Shael chuckled, "I will be waiting then."

Shael and Sorrell were settled in a cafe. They could see the bridge at a distance across the mirrored wall, traffic running at the bridge, looking so tiny, only visible because of the vehicle lights.

"You actually miss President Ronan?" Sorrell asked, sipping at his coffee.

"How did you know?" Shael smiled shyly.

"Isn't that obvious? You never call me, but now that he is not around you wanted to hang out with me."

"That's not true, I always wanted to hang out with you but....." Shael sighed before continuing. "But you are always busy, moreover I thought you might not want to hang out with me."

"Why would I not want to hang out with you?"

"Well, people don't really like me. That's why I don't even have friends."

Sorrell's gaze was fixed at Shael, who looked down in his lap out of embarrassment. "You are a really good person, and your fans like you a lot. Recently they have been demanding your comeback. There are even speculations that you might be pregnant, that's why you are not taking new works."

Sorrell took another sip, "But seriously, why are you not acting anymore?"

Shael's expressions got darker, "Actually, Ronan doesn't want me to get back to acting this quickly. He said I should rest for a few years. I will wait a bit more before I try to persuade him."

"Is he acting strange again?" Sorrell chose his words carefully.

"Again?" Shael was puzzled.

"Yeah, I mean he was a little abusive to his partners before meeting you," Sorrell explained. "But he totally changed after falling for you, but he seemed to be acting like that lately after losing memories."

Shael was a little shocked and dazed in a thousand thoughts.

"I mean you don't like abusive partners, so I was a little worried," Sorrell's voice made Shael snap out of it.

"He is not like that, don't worry," Shael said decorating his lips with a fake smile. "Moreover now that I love him, I think I might be able to accept him even if he abuses me."

Sorrell looked concerned. "What does it feel like, loving him? I mean you were curious about others love lives. Do you feel satisfied being with him?" Sorrell knew something was off, but he couldn't ask directly.

"It's a feeling that when you look at your lover, a flood of emotions burst open like butterflies swarming out of your chest towards that person, and those feelings just keep increasing and increasing until all your emotions belong to that person," Shael replied with a warm smile.

Corvin's face ran through Sorrell's head, and he jolted his head to snap out of it. "Why am I thinking about him?"

"Yeah, the feeling of being in love is weird," Sorrell swirled his coffee slowly. "In love, you end up ignoring every cruel act of your partner."

A picture of Corvin kissing Sorrell while their legs intertwining flew across his head, to which he closed his eyes and took a deep breath before opening again.

"It's good that I called you, we can talk about everything," Shael smiled warmly. "It felt so suffocating stuck at home."

"You can call me more often."

"Oh yeah, that reminds me of your supervisor. You can rant about it, I am all ears."

Sorrell burst out laughing. "I couldn't believe I was complaining about it. Now that I think about it, it's embarrassing."

"Is she strict?"

"Extremely, but the main reason she always gets angry is that she looks down at me cause I am omega. She always ends up at why the company is still hiring omegas for work."

"Goodness, I hate people looking down at omegas like that. Being an omega doesn't mean they always have to be weak."

"Exactly."
