Chapter 36 - Although I Love You

Sorrell opened his eyes and saw Raven lying beside him, his arm wrapped around Sorrell. Last night flashed in front of his eyes, and he snapped out of Raven's grip getting out of bed, which woke up Raven.

Sorrell's breath trembled as he looked at Raven with moist eyes. Raven got out of the bed and approached Sorrell.

"Sorrell, listen to me first, you need to leave your abusive Alpha," Raven said getting closer to Sorrell who walked backwards to avoid him getting closer. "He clearly doesn't love you, he never cares about you..."

"You slept with me using your pheromones, how are you any different from him? Isn't that abuse also?" Sorrell shouted, interrupting.

"That's because you were in heat, and I knew he would make you suffer on purpose and wouldn't touch you."

Tears swept out of Sorrell's eyes as he looked at Raven dumbfounded.

"Let me help you with the soreness," Raven came closer to him as Sorrell couldn't walk further away because of the wall. "Your body must be in pain because of knotting."

"Leave me alone," Sorrell pushed him back.

Raven grabbed Sorrell, placing him on the bed, sitting above him as he started releasing the soothing pheromones. "You can hate me all you want, but let me help you. I don't want to see you suffer."

"Let me go," little sobs escaped Sorrell's mouth as he tried to break through his grip. "Raven, let me go."

At that time Sorrell's sentence flashed through Raven's mind, "I hate liars the most."

"Corvin," Raven said, "it's Corvin, my name."

Sorrell stopped crying while Corvin's soothing pheromones were relieving his soreness. "Corvin?"

"Yeah, CEO of Corvin Pharmaceuticals."

"You are not an Alpha! You are Enigma?"

Everyone was well aware of Corvin pharmaceuticals CEO as he was practically a celebrity. Although Sorrell heard about it but he never paid attention to such things.

"Yeah," that one word barely escaped Corvin's mouth as he was feeling guilty.

Sorrell's expressions stiffened. "Let me go before I hurt myself," Sorrell threatened. "I don't need your comfort."

Sorrell was Corvin's weakness himself. He got off of him, still releasing soothing pheromones.

"So I was used by an Enigma?" Sorrell sat up.

"I would never use you," Corvin almost yelled, "I love you."

"That's not love," Sorrell put pressure on every word. "If you would have loved me, you wouldn't do this."

Sorrell got dressed and walked to the door, but Corvin came in front of him. "Where are you going?"

"None of your business."

"Sorrell, please."

Sorrell closed his eyes and took a deep breath before opening them again, "I have a schedule, I have to take President Ronan to the airport."

"Stay here, I will take him to the airport."

"Sure," Sorrell's tone was sharp and sarcastic, "then am I supposed to thank you?"

"Just stay here."

"I don't want to stay at a place that I shared with you."

"But you reek of my pheromones, you can't go home like that," Corvin countered. "Just stay here, I will not come here."

Corvin gulped, "Okay, I will not come near you. Please stay here until the pheromone scent fades away." He grabbed his shirt quickly, wearing it, and grabbed his things before walking out.

Ronan grabbed onto the suitcase as he walked out of the room. Shael noticed the luggage as he was settled at the dining table for breakfast. Ronan walked to him, sitting across from him and started eating.

"Are you going somewhere?" Shael asked in a hushed tone.

"Yeah, it's a one and a half month collaborative project. I have to travel out of the country and stay there," Ronan replied with no expressions.

"Should I help you with packing?" Shael suggested as he tried to get up, but Ronan's sharp voice stopped him.

"No," Ronan almost shouted in impulse, then he lowered his voice. "I mean, you are not even... feeling well. It's okay, I already packed what is needed. I will just purchase if I need more things."

"I see," Shael was intimidated. "Alright."

Ronan stood up from his chair and approached Shael on the other side of the table. "Stand up."

Shael stood up lost, and Ronan took him into his arms, keeping him in his embrace for a while and then pulling away.

"Take care of yourself," Ronan said before placing a kiss on his forehead.

"What is he thinking?" Shael looked at him with suspicion.

Ronan walked away, dragging the suitcase and settled into the car that was already parked in front of his house. Corvin occupied the driver's seat.

"Where is Sorrell?" Ronan asked as soon as he looked at Corvin, who took his luggage, placing it inside the trunk.

"He took a sick leave," Corvin replied, opening the door for Ronan and closing it gently as Ronan settled down.

Right before approaching the airport Ronan advised, "Please take good care of company matters. Don't put all the burden on Sorrell. Although he doesn't say it, it's too much work for him."

"President," Corvin spoke carefully, "I am planning to resign, but I will assign a good candidate to take over the tasks. Please forgive my incompetence."

"Why are you resigning all of a sudden?"

"I have been wanting to resign for a long time now. I feel like this work doesn't fit me," Corvin made an excuse. "Please forgive me."

"It's alright, I will assign Ramia to take over the tasks temporarily. She will deal with it, just make sure to hand over your work properly."

"Yes, President. I will do my best."
