Chapter 41 - Take Responsibility

No matter how much Ronan tried to calm Shael, he still couldn't. He was crying non stop that doctors forgot about Ronan and started comforting him. But he still couldn't stop crying. He almost lost Ronan for the second time, not to mention that Ronan was his whole world.

"Can you leave us alone?" Ronan asked the doctors, and they walked out of the room.

"It's okay, it's alright," Ronan patted Shael's head on his chest as he started releasing soothing pheromones. Soothing pheromones regulated harmones and relaxed Shael slowly. He stopped crying but couldn't stop hiccuping sobs after crying for too long.

Ronan kissed his head and forehead from time to time, making him realise his presence. Shael who cried for more than an hour, fell asleep in Ronan's embrace still taking jerky breaths. Ronan kissed his head once again and tears came out of his eyes.

I am sorry Shael. I am really sorry for not being able to protect you.

"I love you, Shael," he mumbled.

Sorrell was standing in front of Corvin Pharmaceuticals, hesitating to enter. The high building was too fancy to be a pharmaceutical company. He turned his back to the mirrored door several times and then turned around, trying to gather some courage to enter.

This time, when he turned around, he saw Corvin running towards him from inside. Corvin approached him with heavy breaths as if he ran all the way outside.

"Come in," Corvin said, catching his breath.

"How about we talk somewhere quiet?" Sorrell didn't want to make a fuss, not knowing that everyone in the company knew that he was Corvin's omega. That was the reason he was immediately informed about Sorrell standing outside.

"Come with me," Corvin walked ahead to the parking lot.

He pressed the key, and a black car responded with a beeping. Corvin opened the door for Sorrell, and he got in the passenger seat. Soon the car was running on the road as Corvin occupied the driver seat. Heavy silence filled the car as Corvin stole glances at Sorrell, who was looking out of the window.

Is he angry? Does he want me to apologise? Or is that about me tailing him? Yeah, that might be it, no wonder he changed the place, but it was because of the fight with his Alpha. Or does he want me to apologise to his Alpha so that they can get back together?

Only Corvin's head was filled with a storm of thoughts.

Either way, he came to me himself, I will grant him whatever he wants.

The car stopped in front of a castle, and Corvin got out to open the door for Sorrell. Sorrell was dazed at the sight of a palace-like building.

"What is this place?" Sorrell asked, irritated.

"My house. Since you said quiet place, that was the only place that came into my mind," Corvin replied, leading him inside.

"Let's just talk here," Sorrell stopped in the garden, "we could have talked in the parking lot, why would you bring me here?"

"Okay, let's talk here," Corvin walked back to him.

Sorrell couldn't speak up, his lips pressed against each other as he looked at his fidgeting fingers. Corvin took another step closer, waiting for him to speak.

"Actually..... It's that...."

Sorrell couldn't come up with words, but Corvin patiently waited for him to talk again.

"I am....," there was a long pause, "pregnant."

Corvin's eyes rounded as his furrowed eyebrows relaxed, his heartbeat quickened, but he stood still as Sorrell wasn't done talking.

"Since.... Since....."

Sorrell went silent for a while once again.

"It's your fault.... Then.... You should take responsibility." Sorrell didn't make eye contact with him.

Corvin's eyes filled with water, who never remembered crying all his life. He grabbed Sorrell's fidgeting hands and placed them at his chest. Sorrell looked up at him.

"I promise I will take great care of both of you. I will never ever let you down," his voice was trembling.

No one ever knew that a king who never lost his confidence in front of anyone would be speaking like that.

"Can I hug you?" Corvin asked softly.

"As you wish." Sorrell's words prompted him to take Sorrell into his arms.

"Congratulations."

"Do you even have the right to say that?"

"Okay, okay, I will not say anything, I am sorry."

"Will you be staying with me?" Corvin asked, Sorrell still in his embrace.

"I don't know, I am scared that Aramin will try to hurt me if he gets to know."

"I will never let anyone hurt you."

Sorrell pulled himself away, "You can't hurt him!"

Corvin stayed silent at his words.

"I mean.....," Sorrell's tone was awkward, "don't hurt anyone. It's just I heard Enigmas are dangerous people."

"Tsk," Corvin chuckled as he found Sorrell cute.

"Why are you laughing?" Sorrell frowned, which was cuter.

"Well, usually Enigma are dangerous, but as long as you want, I will try my best to change," Corvin gently brushed Sorrell's hair, "cause I love you."

Sorrell snapped back, "It's awkward, don't touch me casually."

"Alright, alright, I won't."
