Chapter 4 - First casualty

The dungeon core felt the familiar feeling of essence being absorbed into itself as the kobold miner died and was absorbed into the dungeon. The only thing left of the miner was his pickaxe and backpack.

[John the human archer has recieved 75 experience.]

[John has learned the skill archery level 1]

[75 essence absorbed.550/1075 essence remaining]

Huh that was new,the dungeon core's essence repertoire had increased in size with this new essence.

[New achievement:First death]

[Your dungeon has achieved its first casualty.Congratulations on popping that murder cherry.]

[Reward:new mob to spawn:elite human]

...

Back to the fight at hand.

"Sindri protect the rest of the miners." Radway ordered the earthern mage who proceeded to cast a spell.

Sindri began to mutter a magical incantation under his breath.Once he was finished all the earthern miners had a brown aura surrounding their bodies as their bodies gave off faint earthern vibrations. This included Radway.

Sindri had successfully cast the Earthern Vibration Aura spell.A few more arrows made their way to the kobold miners but the arrows bounced off their bodies due to the vibrations coming off their bodies!

Radway made his move as he charged towards Arther.A human spearman who had charged in as he noticed the arrows were no longer effective attacked Radway.Radway threw a high velocity claw thrust towards the human.

The human for his part managed to impressively block with his spear in time.Radway smirked as his claw thrust parted the spear in two before embedding itself in the humans chest.Radway bloodline cultivated strengh along with Sindri's magical spell ensured that his blow could not be blocked by a wooden spear or a baseline humans physical strengh.

The human died and dissolved back into the dungeon. He appeared to drop some vials of blood, some bones and a single crimson crystal.

"THESE CREATURES AREN'T MUCH." Radway yelled hoping to incite the bravado and heightened morale of his miners.

This appeared to work as the kobolds let out a fierce battle cry and charged at the strange creatures.

Radway was about to yell some more when a metal tipped arrow penetrated the earthern vibration aura spell on his body. While the arrow did penetrate the spell its resulting force was unable to penetrate Radways thick scales.

...

Sindri was gobsmacked by what he was witnessing.Every single one of the strange creatures had a high level of magical resistance for their limited power.Usually magic resistance came with high magic capacity but apparently these creatures were too special for that.

Sindri had to use a high amount of mana in each to spell to actually kill the dungeon mobs.

...

The dungeon core was somewhat disappointed by the humans performance. They did fine against the regular miners but the ones above their level were playing to big a part. One of them was the larger unarmed fighter that was fighting Arther. The other was the one that it instinctively knew as a mage.

...

Arther was filled with rage but he stayed calm.If he mindlessly charged at Radway then he would die. This fight required a level head. The reason for his anger was simple, these creatures had simply come in with the intent of killing them and doing as they pleased.

Not to mention the casual ease with which Radway had dismissed Arther's friend after killing him.Yes his friends essence would return to his god and creator but it would not be summoned back the same way he originally was.

All of Arthers friends didn't meet the multiple different criteria to respawn unless they distinguished themselves. This included leveling up,performing noteworthy deeds as well as gaining notoriety.Only Arther would respawn back to the way he was.

All this thinking turned out to be a mistake as he noticed that Radway had left an opening.Arther attempted to exploit it but Radway had left it there on purpose and Arther lost balance.

Pain exploded in Arthers brain as Radways claws sunk into his eyehole.Time appeared to slow down as Arther looked up at Radway as he fell.

"I'll remember you."

The only thing Arther remembered after that was darkness as he fell into a deep sleep.

The other humans had been cleaned up by Sindri at that point hence there was no more trouble.Radway looked on shocked that Arther had spoken actual words.

Dungeon mobs weren't normally known for their intellect or awareness.Radway immediately picked up the pristine ornamental vial of blood that Arther had dropped. He could sense a large amount of blood elemental magic that was ready to be refined for bloodline cultivation.
