Chapter 8 - First level up and race artifact

The sparring continued on without Arther taking part in it.Arther didn't see any point in it.Due to his progenitor abilities he was unable to level up,gain skills or level up those skills the usual way.

Arther watched on as his fellow humans sparred with one another. They would each finish their spars and find a new opponent to fight. This appeared to help in gaining experience.

Joshua was fighting a regular human and won when the air around him seemed to hold its breath. The atmosphere appeared to shake as though it was excited about what was going to happen.

A golden glow began to overtake Joshua's body as all the surrounding humans watched in awe. This was completely new for them.Joshua had claimed he only needed to win one more sparring match in order to max out the experience bar.

Was this what happened when a human maxed out their experience bar?Would this happen to them if they maxed out their own experience bars?

The golden glow receded as quickly as it appeared but Joshua hadn't changed in appearance or mannerisms.Hold on...his presence certainly felt more tangible and substantial and his body had clearly grown stronger.

"I've done it I've learned a new epic rank skill called berserker rage, obtained a new achievement and the experience bar is empty again."

Joshua practically wanted to jump in joy.Now he would stand a chance of winning against the intruders.Even if he died 10 times he would respawn until he would die permanently. He could feel it in his bones.

The other humans were startled by what he said. The experience bar was empty again.Did that mean that they could strive towards even greater strengh and hadn't even met their limit.Unless there were hindrances and complications then the sky was the limit.

Joshua then looked towards Arther.Perhaps now he was the strongest and perhaps now he could beat Arther in a fight. These thoughts quickly disappeared however as the same golden glow that appeared on Joshua now appeared on Arther.

Joshua didn't understand. How did Arther level up when he only took part in two fights in which he only won one of them. Now what seemed like an almost equal level of power was now greatly in favour of Arther.Did it have something to do with his progenitor abilities?

...

The dungeon watched on happily as two of her mobs had levelled up to level 1.

[New achievement:First dungeon mob level up]

[One of your dungeon mobs have levelled up.Watch on as they climb the road to power in this world.]

[Reward:The human race artifact known as the 'scepter of the ascendant'.In addition there will be greater variety in the weapons and armour your humans spawn with. The lucky few might even be born with an extra skill.]

The dungeon zoomed in to the words 'scepter of the ascendant'.The description mentioned that it possessed a passive effect that made levelling up slightly easier but only for levels that have already been reached.

For example because her mobs have reached level one it would be easier to reach level 1.On the other hand the artifact wouldn't make reaching level 2 any easier because none of her mobs have reached level 2.

The description also mentioned that the 'scepter of the ascendant' also possessed the passive ability to create permanent fixed copy's of any skills any human possesses within itself. It had to make physical contact with a humans skin to be able to make permanent fixed copies of their skills. It didn't need a wielder for this to happen.

It would then be able to grant those skills to any human around any number of times as long as they met the correct requirements. This part of the effect required a wielder to willingly pass a copy of a skill onto a person. The wielder would have an intrinsic knowledge of all the skills that the scepter contains at the present.

The dungeon realised the value of this human race artifact immediately. It was immeasurably important. With it any skill could be stored permanently whether or not the original holder was still alive or not.It was essentially a skill factory that granted multiple copies of a skill as long as the recipient met the correct requirements. What these requirements might be she had no idea.

The dungeon realised that she had the choice to grant the 'scepter of the ascendant' to a worthy wielder or summon a display shrine for it remain in for the time being.

She would have to go with the second option as there were no current wielder worthy enough to hold on to such a treasure. She didnt want to make Arther carry a ton of weapons as that was inadvisable. Not to mention the display shrine would still make the skill copy ability of the artifact usable.

She would just have to let the humans know that they had to make skin contact with the artifact whenever they gained a new skill.Perhaps make a tradition out of it.

A display shrine with a ornamental scepter appeared in the largest cave that the humans lived in.The dungeon let them know what it was and what they needed to do with it.

The dungeon didn't pay attention to their reaction as it was more interested in the second achievement it had recieved.
