"Should we explore the dungeon and see what it contains sir." Philip was excited by the prospects of exploring into the unknown.
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves. We have no idea what's in there. There could be a new species of monster for all we know." Radway was also excited but he could see the danger of delving into the unknown.Truly who knew what they could find down there.New dungeons were known for being extremely unpredictable in what they contained.
"We could always run when something truly dangerous appears. Not to mention the dungeon is brand new and still appears to be weak.We could get out of there easy." Another kobold miner by the name of Laurence pointed out.
"Hmmmm let's decide with a vote.If we explore we can give a more detailed report of the dungeon to our superiors. If we don't we'll be safe and we can depend on the professionals to explore it." Radway personally wanted to explore the dungeon to reap the benefits.
A vote was quickly cast between 8 kobold miners and one earthern mage by the name of Sindri.Earthern mages are sometimes used to detect valuable minerals and deposits within the earth for mining.
The result of the vote was five to four for the exploration of the dungeon. The miners began to prepare as they took some lights, storage rings and health potions. They wielded their pickaxes and in Sindri's case a staff.
Before they embarked on the trip to the dungeon Radway sent a message to his superiors and the other miners. He also told them the location of the dungeon in case they all went missing for some reason.
Standing in front of the entrance they were all reminded once again by Radway why this could possibly be dangerous. He also reminded them that destroying the dungeon core was a crime so they shouldn't get any bright ideas about making a quick profit.
Radway was the first to step inside the dungeon. His vision blanked out for a bit as he felt some disorientation and dizziness. This was to be expected however as they weren't entering a normal space.
As the dizziness and disorientation subsided he found himself standing at the end of a massive cavern with a forest inside of it.Nothing too unusual,a perfectly ordinary habitat and ecosystem. The only problem was what dwelled within.
The rest of the miners and Sindri arrived shortly thereafter and had the same reactions as Radway. They weren't too impressed. It was pretty standard all things considered.
"We will stay as a group and eliminate any mobs to the best of our ability. We will also collect any loot we find and report what we find when we finish." Radway planned their course of action and let them all know.
With that Radway and his miners walked through the centre of the forest. They kept an eye out for any hidden creatures but the most they ever saw was a pheasant or two. There was a normal deer at one point.
"This seems a bit too uneventful for a dungeon" Radway was beginning to feel disappointed.Even though they had looted some unusual fruits that were long and yellow from tall trees they still hadn't found any treasure chests.
A short whistling sound came from behind and one of the miners collapsed fowards.Radway saw that the kobold miner had a wooden arrow sticking out of them.
Radway was at first shocked and then enraged. One of the miners had died under his watch. That would certainly affect the benefits he would recieve. He turned behind him to see what had launched the arrow.
There were six of them but what was most unusual was that only one of them had a bow and quiver full of arrows. The problem was that the arrows were tipped with metal.
"There must be more archers hiding in the forest" Radway concluded mentally. "judging by the fact that they appeared behind us they must have circled round and cut us off from our exit."
Radway looked more closely at the mobs. They kind of resembled elves except their ears were round and their appearances were more rough just not as rough as a dwarfs. They also weren't quite as short or stout as dwarves. They also came in a short variety of skin tones and colours.
