Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: Kaldor and the Ninja Thieves

Land of Lightning, Kumogakure.

Two figures stealthily slipped into the Raikage's Tower.

Obito easily knocked down the two guards stationed there and, together with Black Zetsu, brazenly pushed open the door to the Raikage's office.

Black Zetsu followed closely behind Obito as they stepped inside.

"Kumogakure really is full of reckless brutes. Such an important place, yet they only assigned two guards to protect it," Obito sneered coldly. "Today, I'll teach them a lesson."

"Hehehe, Obito-kun is absolutely right. Now, let's see where they've hidden the treasury," Black Zetsu said excitedly.

The two immediately began searching the office.

After a while, Black Zetsu suddenly called out, "Obito-kun, I found it!"

Hearing this, Obito quickly walked over. Behind the Raikage's desk, there was a metal door.

"Clicking his tongue, Obito muttered, "Tch, I didn't expect the treasury to be placed somewhere this obvious."

"Let's head inside!" Black Zetsu said eagerly and slipped into the vault.

Seeing this, Obito hurried in after him.

"As expected of one of the Five Great Nations, Kumogakure's wealth really is impressive!" Black Zetsu sighed in admiration.

Obito nodded in agreement. "Do you think these reckless brutes of Kumogakure could even spend all this money?"

"Of course not, Obito-kun," Black Zetsu replied.

"In that case, we'll spend it for them!" With that, the two exchanged knowing smiles.

"Obito-kun, let's move quickly. Time is short, and the task is heavy. Tonight, we must clear out the entire Kumogakure treasury. Otherwise, once they realize what's happened, it'll become troublesome!" Black Zetsu urged.

Obito didn't hesitate. He immediately transferred all the wealth from the vault into his Kamui space.

Within moments, the treasury of the Raikage's Tower had been completely emptied. The two wasted no time and went straight to Kumogakure's prominent clans, continuing their plundering spree.

They toiled the entire night, sweeping through the whole village until dawn finally broke.

By then, both of them were utterly exhausted and gasping for breath.

Obito felt a sharp sting in his eyes and instinctively rubbed them.

Although he had transplanted Hashirama's cells and possessed monstrous regenerative ability, using Kamui intensively throughout the night had placed a severe strain on his eyes.

"Obito-kun, your eyes are bleeding!" Black Zetsu cried out in alarm.

Startled, Obito quickly removed his hand, only to find it covered in blood.

For a moment, Obito froze. Over the years, his eyes had never bled again since the very first time he activated his Mangekyō Sharingan.

He hurriedly wiped the blood from the corner of his eyes. "Looks like the workload these past few days has been too intense. We need to rest for a while."

Black Zetsu nodded in agreement.

Indeed, their workload had been overwhelming—raiding at night and tallying their spoils during the day.

They hadn't had any time to rest. Thus, Black Zetsu suggested they return to the Land of Fire to recuperate, leaving the stolen money in Obito's space.

Since Black Zetsu had no fixed hiding place for wealth, he entrusted everything to Obito's Kamui space.

Obito nodded, and the two immediately prepared to leave Kumogakure.

—Outside Kumogakure—

After a night of travel, Kaldor finally arrived near the village.

He planned to rest nearby before heading into Kumogakure to demand an explanation from the Fourth Raikage.

After all, Kumogakure had gone so far as to kidnap a little girl—such an act was utterly dishonorable.

Kaldor decided to teach the Fourth Raikage a lesson.

With this in mind, he leaned against a tree, preparing to take a nap.

But just then, he heard voices in the distance. Perking up his ears, he caught every word clearly.

"Hehehe, Obito-kun, how much do you think we gained from Kumogakure this time?"

"We've already paid visits to the prominent clans and the Raikage's Tower. This haul should be worth over four billion!"

"Ha, I thought so too. Where should we head next?"

"After two days of rest, let's hit the Land of Earth."

"Mm, those reckless brutes in Kumogakure probably haven't even realized their money is gone yet!"

Hearing this, Kaldor's eyes widened in disbelief. "What? These two actually robbed the entire Kumogakure?!"

Although Kaldor believed Kumogakure deserved punishment, he couldn't just stand by and let these two thieves get away with it.

Without hesitation, he leapt down from the tree and dashed toward the voices.

"You two thieves, stop right there!"

Obito and Zetsu turned at the sudden shout. Behind them, they saw a tall, muscular man with a Mediterranean bald spot, clad in a tight blue outfit, charging toward them.

"The village reacted this fast?" Obito muttered in surprise.

Seeing the man's towering physique and bulging muscles, both of them instinctively assumed he was a Kumogakure shinobi.

At that moment, Kaldor suddenly accelerated, shooting forward like a cannonball straight at them.

His incredible speed startled both Obito and Black Zetsu.

Kaldor planted himself firmly in front of them, spreading out his arms to block their path. In a booming voice, he shouted:

"Anyone who commits evil will face the punishment of law! You two, hand over the money you stole from Kumogakure at once!"

Obito and Zetsu exchanged a glance—and suddenly burst into loud laughter.

"Hahaha, Obito-kun, this is killing me! Look at him—an old man, yet he spouts such childish nonsense!" Black Zetsu jeered, his tone dripping with mockery.

"Haha! 'Those who commit evil will be punished by law'? That's hilarious!" Obito couldn't help but laugh as well.

Hearing such words from a Mediterranean bald brute made them seriously doubt Kaldor's intelligence.

"You two thieves, stop laughing! Hand over the money immediately!" Kaldor roared angrily, growing impatient as they mocked him.

When they still didn't comply, he threw a punch directly at Obito.

"So fast!" Obito exclaimed.

He instantly activated intangibility, easily letting Kaldor's fist pass through his body.

Kaldor's eyes widened in shock. His punch had simply phased through as if Obito were a ghost.

While he was still stunned, Obito countered with a swift kick to Kaldor's chin, sending him flying backward.

But Kaldor quickly got back on his feet and launched into a furious assault, raining blows upon Obito—yet none could land.

Obito, taking advantage of the openings, struck back several times.

However, to his surprise, Kaldor's defense was extraordinary. His blows barely scratched the man.

"If physical attacks won't work, then I'll use genjutsu," Obito muttered, locking eyes with Kaldor.

The instant their eyes met, Kaldor froze in place.

This surprised Obito. He hadn't expected to ensnare his opponent in genjutsu so easily.

"Such weak resistance to illusions?" Obito murmured.

"Obito-kun, what's he doing?" Black Zetsu asked, pointing at the entranced Kaldor.

"His terrifying physical strength makes him perfect for experimentation. I'll bring him back and let Orochimaru study him thoroughly. I'm sure he'll be very interested…" Obito said with a smirk.

And so, Kaldor, who dreamed of becoming a superhero, ultimately fell into the hands of Uchiha Obito.
