Chapter 28 - Mission Complete

Chapter 28 – Mission Complete

"Pakura versus Hatake Yusuke."

Pakura stood on the arena platform, her gaze sharp and unwavering.

"This time, I won't lose again," she declared firmly.

In her mind, her previous defeat wasn't due to a lack of power, but because Yusuke had used underhanded tactics.

The match began.

Pakura kept her distance and launched her attack.

"Wind Release: Wind Blade!"

Several sharp gusts of wind cut through the air, speeding straight toward Yusuke.

"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique."

Yusuke countered immediately. A massive fireball exploded forward, consuming the wind and creating a scorching blast that distorted the air.

But Pakura was already one step ahead.

A flurry of shuriken flew at Yusuke from multiple angles.

He didn't even try to dodge. "Iron Body."

His skin hardened like tempered steel. The weapons struck with metallic sparks but bounced off harmlessly.

"Scorch Release: Overheat Killing!"

A burning orb, glowing like a miniature sun, shot from Pakura's hand. Even from afar, its heat was enough to sear the skin.

Yusuke exhaled a small sigh. "Compared to Kisame Hoshigaki and that monster of a sword... you're not even close," he muttered.

His chakra reserves remained untouched. In contrast, Pakura's Scorch Release was rapidly depleting her energy.

Without another word, Yusuke coated his blade in Armament Haki.

A dark metallic sheen covered the weapon—hard as iron.

But he had no intention of engaging in close combat. The temperature of her techniques was too dangerous up close.

"What was that…? What kind of technique is that?" Onoki asked from the stands, leaning forward. "His hands just turned jet black."

"Hatake Style: Thunder – Lotus Slash!"

Lightning-charged chakra surged along his blade. Yusuke slashed ten times in rapid succession, each arc leaving behind a glowing lotus-shaped petal of thunder.

The flower-like barrage collided with Pakura's scorching orb, shattering it instantly.

"No way…" Pakura's expression turned pale. Her strongest jutsu was dismantled like it was nothing.

"Scorch Release: Burning Dragon Bomb!"

This time, she poured everything into the attack—conjuring a massive flaming dragon that radiated searing heat.

"Stop the fight now, Tsunade! You know what'll happen if this goes on!" the Third Kazekage barked, sweat beading on his brow. He couldn't afford to let Yusuke die on his territory.

"Relax, Kazekage," Tsunade replied calmly, her confidence unwavering.

"That's all you've got?" Yusuke asked, sounding genuinely disappointed.

He hadn't even used Enma yet. Compared to Kisame, Pakura was still within the realm of an elite jōnin—strong, but manageable.

(Even though chakra determines energy reserves, it doesn't define strength. If it did, Naruto would've been unbeatable straight out of the academy.)

As the blazing dragon barreled toward him, Yusuke slid off his coat. His bare arms tensed under the rising heat.

A ferocious Qiong Qi tattoo—evoking imagery of Zoro's sword test in Wano—stood bold on his shoulder.

"The Nine Thousand And Eight Seas, Constitute One World. A Thousand Worlds Make One Chiliocosm. When I gather and cube that chiliocosm... there's nothing I cannot cut... Three Sword Style Secret Technique: The Billion-fold World... Trichiliocosm!"

With his incantation, two of his swords began spinning in the air. Every word he spoke carried weight, shaking the very atmosphere. Pressure filled the arena.

"STOP HIM!" the Third Kazekage shouted in panic. Even seasoned elite jōnin would be torn apart by that attack.

He leapt into the arena without hesitation.

"Magnet Release: Iron Sand Defense!"

He summoned a wall of iron sand to shield Pakura.

But Yusuke's slash tore through the flaming dragon and collided with the shield, cracking it instantly.

"Absolute Defense!" the Kazekage shouted, reinforcing it just in time. The shield barely held.

"What's the meaning of this, Kazekage?" Tsunade stepped forward, her eyes blazing.

"I apologize. This time, Sunagakure concedes," the Kazekage said awkwardly, but his glare at Yusuke brimmed with killing intent.

This child cannot be allowed to live. But… now wasn't the time. He couldn't afford a war with Konoha.

"So this is your real strength…" Mei Terumi whispered from the sidelines.

Everyone else simply watched in stunned silence—awestruck by the overwhelming might of a teenager.

"…Still too rough," Yusuke muttered. He hadn't intended to kill Pakura. He just wanted to test the limits of his strongest move.

And truthfully… he was still far from Zoro's level.

[Ding!]

[Mission Complete. Evaluation: A Rank]

'Guess it's because I didn't get first place this time.'

[Reward: Logia-type Devil Fruit (random) and one A-rank item. Delivered.]

"You okay?" Tsunade rushed over, concerned.

"I'm fine. Just testing something new," Yusuke replied casually.

"You reckless brat… you've caused a huge mess," she scolded.

"I know. But don't worry. I've thought this through," he said with a relaxed smile.

"Tsunade, let's head back to the inn."

"…Alright," she agreed hesitantly, still a little confused.

"The official results for this Chunin Exam: Participants from Kirigakure, Kumogakure, and Konohagakure have all been promoted."

"All finalists from the third stage have passed."

Tsunade escorted Yusuke back to their lodging.

"Tsunade, I need to be alone. I have to fully process what I gained from that fight. Don't let anyone disturb me. Got it?"

Yusuke knew the journey back to Konoha wouldn't be smooth. Many ninja from the major villages now saw him as a threat.

For now, this was the safest place to be—none of the nations wanted war. The cost of the Second Great Ninja War was still fresh in everyone's memory.

"Don't worry. No one's getting past me," Tsunade assured him.

"Thanks, Tsunade," Yusuke said sincerely.

"Don't get all mushy," she muttered, cheeks slightly flushed.

Yusuke sat cross-legged and prepared to unlock his reward.

"Use: Logia-type Devil Fruit."

As the fruit materialized, Yusuke's eyes widened.

Excitement surged through his chest. The timing couldn't have been more perfect.

This fruit…

This fruit would make him unstoppable.

Among all the Logias, for him—this was the strongest.

"Begin fusion."

[Fusion process initiated...]

"Damn… this power… it's unreal…"

With those final words, Yusuke collapsed.

The next day.

When Yusuke opened his eyes, he felt the overwhelming surge of his new power…

And he was left speechless.
