Chapter 31 – Establishing a Hospital
"You little brat!" Hiruzen Sarutobi barked, visibly irritated.
"You say it like it's no big deal. Having two Kekkei Genkai—aside from Mei Terumi, no one else in the entire shinobi world has ever pulled that off!"
Tsunade had previously reported Yusuke's new power to Hiruzen, even sending a retrieval team after him. But to everyone's surprise, Yusuke returned to the village on his own.
"How does it compare to your Quake Release?" Hiruzen asked, referring to the Gura Gura no Mi's power.
"If I had to say... this new ability gives me a much greater boost than Quake Release ever did," Yusuke answered honestly.
While he had developed the Gura Gura no Mi quite well, its destructive power was still bottlenecked by his physical limits. On the other hand, the Pika Pika no Mi was perfectly in sync with his light body and chakra system.
Hiruzen fell silent, visibly troubled, as though reevaluating everything he thought he knew.
"So, what's this new Kekkei Genkai called?" he finally asked. Maybe it was a bloodline never seen before in shinobi history.
"I named it Light Release."
'Light...? What is this, a flashlight technique?' Hiruzen scoffed internally.
"Well then, Hokage-sama, if there's nothing else, I'll excuse myself. Do you know where Tsunade is right now?" Yusuke asked.
"Tsunade? She went out looking for you, worried sick."
"Got it. I'll go catch up."
"You punk! I'm not finished questioning you!" Hiruzen shouted, but Yusuke was already halfway out the door.
Still, the old Hokage didn't press further. A genius like Yusuke was hard to rein in—and besides, he was Sakumo Hatake's son. Even Danzo, who had planned to meddle, was forced to back off.
— — —
"I found Tsunade's chakra signature."
Sensing her presence, Yusuke instantly turned into a beam of light and vanished. A moment later, he shot across the sky like a golden comet and descended toward Tsunade's location.
"I'm back," he said casually, appearing behind her.
Tsunade turned, and for the first time since leaving Konoha, a genuine smile spread across her face. She didn't say anything—just watched him in relief.
"Alright, everyone. Dismissed," Tsunade announced, disbanding the team.
"Let's celebrate your safe return!" she added cheerfully.
"No need. I need to check on the house first. You can come with me if you'd like," Yusuke said with a small smile.
"I'd love to. Been a while since I last visited Sakumo-senpai's place," she muttered.
And once again, Orochimaru and Jiraiya were conveniently forgotten.
— — —
Before heading home, the two stopped by the market—dinner time was approaching.
"Why are you buying so many ingredients?" Tsunade asked.
"I'm cooking, obviously," Yusuke replied with a shrug.
"You can cook?" She gave him a skeptical look, not expecting much from his culinary skills.
"Of course. How do you think Kakashi and I grew up healthy?"
Once shopping was done, they made their way to the Hatake household.
— — —
"Dad! I'm home!" Yusuke shouted at the gate.
"Kakashi! Your big bro's back!"
Kakashi appeared shortly after, looking dusty and worn from training. His hair was messier than usual.
Sakumo Hatake, the legendary White Fang of Konoha, also emerged from the house in his ninja attire. He likely just finished sparring with Kakashi.
"Oh, Tsunade's here too," Sakumo greeted warmly.
"Hello, Sakumo-senpai. Sorry for dropping by unannounced," Tsunade responded respectfully.
Despite being one of the Legendary Sannin, Tsunade showed proper respect to Sakumo—one of the strongest shinobi of his era.
"Welcome, Tsunade-sama," Kakashi said politely.
"So this is your little brother? Kakashi, right?" Tsunade smiled.
"Thank you, Tsunade-sama," Kakashi replied nervously. He wasn't used to speaking to such a high-ranking kunoichi.
Cough. Cough.
Yusuke cleared his throat, visibly annoyed. "Does no one here remember I'm family too?"
Sakumo chuckled. "So, you're back. Did you pass the Chūnin Exams?"
"Obviously. That test was a joke," Yusuke said smugly.
"Seems like you picked up more than just a promotion this time," Sakumo added, subtly referring to his son's newly awakened power.
"Not bad," Yusuke nodded. "Kakashi, help me carry this stuff inside."
Then he headed straight to the kitchen and started cooking. Meanwhile, Tsunade and Sakumo chatted—judging by Sakumo's surprised reactions, Tsunade had filled him in on a lot.
Once all the dishes were served, Tsunade was thoroughly convinced of Yusuke's cooking skills.
She'd even asked Sakumo, who said Yusuke handled most of the meals at home. He'd always thought they were just average, but seeing the colorful presentation and delicious aroma changed everything.
Dinner turned out to be a joyful feast.
— — —
"Ugh... I'm stuffed," Tsunade said, patting her belly.
"Told you it'd be good," Yusuke grinned.
"Not bad at all. Guess I'll be coming over more often for free food!" she laughed.
"Sure. But you're doing the dishes then."
Kakashi, who was about to help with the cleanup, froze.
Did... did he just tell one of the Legendary Sannin to wash dishes?! Even the Third Hokage wouldn't dare do that! And Yusuke just calls her "Tsunade"—no '-sama', no honorifics? Even the village elders still call her "Princess Tsunade"!
But what happened next truly broke Kakashi's brain.
"Hey, I'm a guest, you know!" Tsunade protested.
"I said do the dishes. If not, no more free meals."
"Tch." She clicked her tongue but stood up and carried the plates to the kitchen.
"It's okay, Yusuke. Let Kakashi do it," Sakumo offered gently, surprised at how Yusuke could 'tame' Tsunade so easily.
"It's fine, Sakumo-senpai. It's just washing dishes," Tsunade said as she stepped into the kitchen.
Sakumo looked at Yusuke again. "You too—go help."
"Yeah, yeah..." Yusuke sighed and followed.
After the chores were done and everyone had settled, Yusuke brought Kakashi to his room.
— — —
"I want to talk about a new training program," Yusuke said seriously.
"What kind of training?" Tsunade asked.
"I want the Hatake family to fund a medical training program. We'll recruit orphans and civilians to become medical-nin. Once they graduate, they'll serve the people of Konoha—but not for free."
Yusuke explained the hospital system from his previous world. It would help the needy while also generating enough income to keep the system running.
Both Sakumo and Tsunade were shocked. The plan wasn't just charitable—it had real long-term potential.
"Dad, what do you think?" Yusuke asked.
"I approve," Sakumo replied after a thoughtful pause.
"Tsunade?"
"Absolutely," she said without hesitation.
Yusuke then laid out the profit-sharing structure: fifty percent for the Hatake family and fifty for Tsunade. But he emphasized that Tsunade's share could never be transferred to anyone else.
He wasn't going to let schemers like Danzo or the elder council stick their fingers into this project.
With that, he began outlining the full plan for the hospital.
(Note: Some modern details were intentionally simplified due to the characters' limited understanding of real-world systems.)
