Chapter 27 - Hatake Yusuke’s Power

Chapter 27 – Hatake Yusuke's Power

"Three Sword Style: Tornado Slash!"

In an instant, a massive whirlwind swept through the arena. The raging wind spiraled upward into a colossal tornado, drawing in all surrounding water like a vortex. It resembled the Water Tornado Technique—but far more destructive.

The cyclone devoured the water like an uncontrollable beast, becoming a deadly spiral capable of swallowing everything in its path.

"Reinforce the barrier, now!" the Third Kazekage ordered in a panicked tone.

"Damn it... this brat...!" the Third Mizukage growled, his face darkening. He never expected the kid they all underestimated to wield such terrifying power.

The tornado created from Yusuke's slash surged toward Kisame Hoshigaki with blinding speed.

Kisame swiftly raised Samehada.

"Samehada: Flying Chain Slash! Chakra Absorption!"

Samehada's hilt suddenly extended over ten meters, its blade twisting like a living chain, launching forward as if it intended to devour the tornado whole.

The water within the vortex began to drain into Samehada—but the tornado didn't falter. It kept spinning, undeterred.

Water could be absorbed, yes—but the core power behind this storm wasn't ordinary chakra. It was the raw force of Yusuke's blade, amplified by a technique akin to Haki—waves of pure, sharp pressure, similar to Might Guy's Afternoon Tiger.

"Why the hell won't it absorb?!" Kisame shouted in frustration.

He had assumed Yusuke was simply using Wind Release—but it wasn't that simple.

(Even Shisui Uchiha's sword strikes were just chakra-coated. Yusuke's were something else entirely—techniques infused with overwhelming force, like a form of Haoshoku Haki.)

"You didn't actually think I used my full strength the last time I beat you, did you?" Yusuke sneered.

Everyone had believed Kisame lost before because he ran out of chakra. But now, everything was crystal clear.

"Damn you! Die already!!" Kisame roared, charging in with Samehada in hand.

Yusuke blocked with one sword and simultaneously swung a second blade toward Kisame's side.

Samehada reacted, suddenly sprouting sharp spikes that lashed out in retaliation.

Yusuke leapt back, but not fast enough—his arm was grazed. The wound immediately began draining his chakra, funneling it into Kisame.

"Heh... not bad. Let's go all out," Yusuke muttered with a savage grin.

He always got like this—the scent of blood, even his own, only made him more feral.

Without hesitation, he dashed at Kisame again.

Low-level Water Release jutsu flew at him, but each was torn apart by Yusuke's relentless sword slashes. C-rank techniques meant nothing against his strength now.

"Fine! I'm not backing down either!" Kisame gritted his teeth and pressed on.

Their blades clashed over and over, but Samehada's sheer size and weight made it too slow to land a clean hit. Without its regeneration and chakra-draining properties, Kisame would've already collapsed.

"Haha!! Now this is a real fight!" Yusuke laughed wildly, eyes glowing with battle lust.

"Stop this at once!" Tsunade snapped, her voice laced with concern—not for Yusuke's safety, but because this could end with Kisame's death and spark diplomatic chaos.

"Tsunade, this is an official exam. Without surrender, no one can intervene," the Third Mizukage said smugly.

Even though Kisame seemed cornered, he was confident Samehada would eventually drain Yusuke dry.

But Tsunade's expression only grew colder.

"Then be ready for the consequences," she said flatly.

"A dull blade," the Mizukage muttered dismissively.

But when he glanced back at the field, his eyes widened—Yusuke was preparing to end it.

This kid is insane, Kisame thought.

He had to admit, Yusuke was frighteningly powerful. If they were the same age, he wasn't sure how he would've fared.

"Brace yourself. Three Sword Style Secret Technique: Azure Dragon's Roar – Flowing Stream!"

"Water Release: Super Shark Bullet Technique!"

A gigantic azure dragon and an enormous water shark collided midair.

In a single flash, the dragon tore through the shark and continued barreling straight for Kisame.

He had no time to dodge.

"What...? Impossible... That much power?!" the Mizukage gasped.

He knew full well Kisame's jutsu was A-rank—and this boy crushed it with one strike?

"Stop them! Call off the fight!!" he shouted, panicked—but his voice was drowned out by the deafening crash of chakra surging through the arena.

"Swords don't speak," Tsunade said coldly.

"You...!" The Mizukage clenched his fists, seething.

The dragon shot past Kisame.

Yusuke smoothly sheathed all three of his blades in one graceful motion.

"Why...?" Kisame muttered weakly.

"Haha! You actually entertained me. I'll let you live—for today," Yusuke replied, laughing freely, completely unfiltered.

"You're not afraid I'll kill you someday?" Kisame asked through clenched teeth.

"With your strength? Try me anytime," Yusuke smirked.

"Tch... Arrogant brat..." Kisame whispered, drained.

Yusuke said nothing.

He knew this mission would push his power even further. And if he really did obtain a Logia-type Devil Fruit—alongside the Gura Gura no Mi—he could challenge even low-tier Kage. Of course, that depended on the fruit. Even Logia types had counters—like how the Suna Suna no Mi was weak to Water Release.

"Konohagakure truly breeds monsters..." the Third Kazekage muttered in awe.

"You're flattering him too much, Your Excellency," Jiraiya said, emerging from the side of the stage.

Pakura won her next match.

So did Mei Terumi.

The next day, the names of the advancing participants were announced:

"Yusuke vs NPC"

"Mei Terumi vs Kurotsuchi"

"Honda Kaori vs Pakura"

The first fight didn't even need commentary. Yusuke didn't bother drawing his swords—one kick, and his opponent was knocked clean out of the ring.

The second match was far tougher. Kurotsuchi, a skilled Earth Release user, nearly defeated Mei Terumi. But at the last moment, Mei revealed her second Kekkei Genkai in a surprise counterattack.

The crowd was stunned—one Kekkei Genkai was rare enough, but two? And her Water Release was impressive on its own.

The third match went to Pakura. While Honda Kaori was a talented fighter, she was far younger and less experienced.

That result was expected. Not everyone could be like Kakashi or Sakumo Hatake—rising to the top even without a Kekkei Genkai.

Yusuke got a bye in the next round.

Pakura would face Mei Terumi.

By this point, all the remaining participants were worthy of being Chunin. But there still had to be a final winner.

The fight between Mei and Pakura wasn't shown in detail.

The result: Pakura won. (She was slightly older, after all.)

The final match would be Pakura vs Hatake Yusuke.

With the matchups announced, Yusuke didn't give it much thought. He returned to the inn to rest. Right now, his mind was focused on one thing—the reward for completing this mission.

Tomorrow, he'd win.

And when that moment came, he'd finally get his hands on a Logia-type Devil Fruit.

Of course he was excited.
