Chapter 20 - The Youngest

Han Ziyan was scared silly when she saw her father losing his temper at Meng Yunhan. She immediately ran to Han Ruochen and pulled Han Ruochen's hand. "Sister Chen, Dad's expression didn't look quite right. What's wrong with him? Do you think that he will quarrel with our mom? Should we go and mitigate?"

"You go ahead and mitigate if you wish to do it," said Han Ruochen as she freed her hand from Han Ziyan's clutches. "I am afraid that if I dare to mitigate, then I will be slapped hard once again."

Before she died, her heart was already squashed to bits by Meng Yunhan—her own mother. She was driven to the grave by Meng Yunhan's shameless words.

And nothing had changed after her rebirth either. Meng Yunhan knew that Han Ziyan was fooling around with her fiancé, but instead of stopping Han Ziyan, who had refused to get engaged to Yang Jianming when he didn't have a job, but the second he got one, Han Ziyan shamelessly went to pester him and her mother; her own biological mother allowed that to happen.

Why? Just because she thought that she had wronged Han Ziyan by keeping her away from her biological father, and she believed that she had let down Han Ziyan and Master Yun.

"Sister Chen, what are you saying? Don't you want to see dad and mom getting along?" Han Ziyan tried to cajole Han Ruochen like she did in the past. "If a few blows and slaps could mend what is wrong between them, what's wrong with suffering a little? I am willing. So should you."

When Han Ruochen heard these shameless words, her entire body was set on fire.

In her past life, Han Ziyan said the same words to confused Han Ruochen, who wanted her mother's approval, and under these heart-stirring and brainwashing tactics of Han Ziyan, Han Ruochen became obedient and withdrawn.

Han Ruochen sneered, "If you are so worried, then you should go and mitigate. Mom loves you so much, since she loves you—even if she hits you a few times, it shouldn't matter. Right?"

Anyway, Han Yichen would never hit his daughters. Only Meng Yunhan would hit Han Ruochen every time she got angry, but when it came to her precious Han Ziyan, she would never raise her hand at her.

Seeing that Han Ziyan was not moving, Han Ruochen sneered. She said to her, "Ziyan, you should go and stop the quarrel; in the end, this mess was brought home by you. Who asked you to shamelessly pursue the fiancé of your sister? However, I have to say that Yang Jianming truly likes you. Even after finding out that you had looked down at him before he got his job, he still accepted you. This is true love!"

"Since mom supported you when you were wrong, you should definitely put in an effort to save her."

She pushed Han Ziyan toward their parents' room, but before she could push Han Ziyan to the door, the woman twisted around and refused to take another step closer to the bedroom. How could she enter the room when the fire was burning hot and high?

Han Ziyan smiled embarrassingly. "Dad and Mom are having a heated argument now. If I go now, then things might become awkward. I–I think it's better to wait for the heat to die down before persuading them." She paused and added, "And Sister Chen, I really didn't want to fool around with your fiancé. It was Brother Jianming. He was the one who fooled me; I didn't mean to, can you forgive me?"

With that, she squeezed out a few tears.

Han Ruochen scoffed inwardly. She knew this tactic too well. Just like how Han Ziyan blamed her for looking down at Yang Jianming to win his heart, she put the pot of blame on Yang Jianming's head by telling her that she seduced her and she, being a young maiden, fell into his trap.

In the past, Han Ruochen would have believed what Han Ziyan was saying to her, but not anymore. She rolled her eyes and said, "Even if he seduced you, you and Mother should have known better than to allow him to make moves on you. Ziyan, I am really disappointed in you. I treated you so well and even gave all the good things to you, and this is how you repaid me?"

With that, she looked at Han Ziyan right in the eye as if she could see right through her.

That gaze terrified Han Ziyan so much that she turned around and ran back to her room. She didn't know what happened to Han Ruochen, but the woman had become harder and harder to control.

Han Ruochen watched her run away and sneered. She knew that Han Ziyan was a coward. In her past life, this woman had hidden herself quite well and only showed her true colours when she was certain that none of the Han family members would be able to do anything to her. Currently, everyone in the Han family was well off and healthy, so Han Ziyan wouldn't dare to do anything too over the top.

Snorting, Han Ruochen turned around on her feet and went to the kitchen. She pulled out an egg and boiled it before putting it on the swelling on her cheek. In the past, she catered to and fretted over her mother and Han Ziyan so much that she didn't care about herself, but now, she would rather feed the good things in their house to the dogs than let Meng Yunhan send it all to the Yun family.

She would love to see, without receiving any benefits from Meng Yunhan, how long Master Yun would be able to carry on with his lover boy act.

The sound of footsteps shuffling echoed behind her, and Han Ruochen turned to look at who it was. A second later, a little furry head poked inside the kitchen and stared at her cutely.
