The two boys raised their heads and looked at her as if they didn't believe a thing that she said to them. The tide receded so quickly; what good things could this woman even find?
Han Ruochen didn't bother with them. Instead, she turned on the Sea Scanning System. After that, she turned around and looked at the mudflat on the beach, and sure enough, she could see underneath the mudflat! At first sight, the mudflat looked like there was nothing good in there, but with the scanning system, Han Ruochen could see that there were a hell of a lot of good things inside the mudflat. Such as mantis shrimp.
Though the scanning range was a bit small, Han Ruochen didn't care about it for the time being. Having a golden finger was good enough. She walked around the beach and noticed that the scanning range moved along with her. This, however, was good enough. As long as she could change the direction and the location of the scanning range, there was nothing to worry about.
Looking at the mantis shrimp underneath the mudflat, Han Ruochen turned to look at Han Beijiang and said to him, "Do you want to eat something good today?"
Han Beijiang nodded without saying anything. He still remembered the egg pudding that Han Ruochen had cooked earlier and believed her when she said that she could cook something good for him.
However, the two children who were kneeling on the side turned worried when they saw Han Ruochen's face turning pale and then red with excitement. They thought that the woman was upset with what they said and hurriedly asked,
"Auntie, are you going to complain to my grandmother?"
"Don't try to blackmail my mother for money; she won't give it to you."
Han Ruochen was still happily thinking about the many ways she could cook the mantis shrimp when she heard the words of the two brats. She suddenly turned unhappy and said to the two of them, "Why would I blackmail you two kids? Go and ask your mothers who I am. I am a teacher at school. Since when did teachers start blackmailing children?"
She then turned around and walked away. It was a good thing that she brought a bucket and eel pliers with her, or else she would have missed out on such a good thing. When she arrived at the mudflat, she brought Han Beijiang down from her arms and handed him a book that she knew was way too difficult for a child his age, but she knew that with her brother's intelligence, this book would certainly be good to hook his interest.
And sure enough, when Han Beijiang saw the content of the books, his indifferent eyes turned starry, and he started to read them much more carefully. Seeing that Han Beijiang was hooked, Han Ruochen sighed in relief. She then rolled her sleeves and pants before going down the mudflat without her slippers. She was careful on her way, as she was worried that the shellfish might prick her. She didn't have any boots at the moment, and with her mother collecting all the money that she earned, Han Ruochen had nothing like that to wear.
Seeing the puddle of water near her, she scooped out a little water in the bucket to keep the mantis shrimp fresh and then started digging the mudflat.
When the two brats saw her digging in the mud, they looked at one another and walked over.
Qi Boyan looked at Han Ruochen, who was digging in the mud, and kindly reminded her, "There is nothing in there. The adults said that nothing good came out of the low tide today, just like always."
"Yeah, you are wasting your time," agreed Zhou Chen.
Just look around the beach; no adults came around to dig anything. Only Han Ruochen was the one who came to the sea; what was she even thinking?
"Who said that there is no good thing here?" Han Ruochen said to the two kids. "Just wait and see; I will show you that my luck is better than others." Now that Han Ruochen was back, she wanted to live her life without any restraints. She didn't want to listen to her mother, who kept nagging in her ears, telling her that she was better than others and that she should keep her distance and be a bit more indifferent. This life she would live on her own terms.
"Just brag. We will see what good things you will be able to dig." Qi Boyan snorted, and Han Ruochen smiled.
She didn't mind their mockery. Anyway, compared to the taunts that Han Ziyan and Yang Jianming and the Yang family shot her way, this was way too light-hearted.
Han Ruochen used her skills and noticed that there were no other mantis shrimp around the beach other than this place, and there were only three of them piled one on top of the other. If she was not careful, then they might run away.
So, Han Ruochen carefully dug up the mud and then opened a large hole.
As soon as she opened the hole, a big pore appeared in the ground, and the two boys' eyes widened in surprise as they looked at the hole in the ground. They grew up in a fishing village, and thus they knew that the bigger the hole, the bigger the treasure inside it.
The two boys were really jealous; they had been looking around the beach for so long and didn't find anything good, and yet this woman just randomly dug a spot on the ground and found a treasure chest.
"Such a big pore… what do you think there might be inside of it?"
"Maybe an octopus?"
"That's too small for that. Maybe it's a king clam?"
"I still think it's an octopus."
Han Ruochen: "..."
She was speechless at their childish quarrel. The hole was here, and the seafood inside the pore was also here. What was the point of making so much noise? She sighed and then started cleaning off the obstacle in front of her. Let's see what kind of rare treasure was waiting for her?
