Chapter 1 - The Never Ending Hunger

'Hungry'

'Eat'

'Eat'

'EAT'

A Nameless zombie was crouching in a dark alleyway situated between two white buildings. This darkness was slightly receded by the whitish light of the creamy white moon high in the night sky.

The sound pollution was high because the nearby atmosphere was filled with gunshots, explosions and inhuman, human screams of joy and agony.

The nameless zombie scooped out a handful of flesh from a dead human body and stuffed it into his mouth in a hurry.

There was no happiness, excitement on his face or his heart.

After all, both spiritually and biologically he was dead.

"Munch, munch, munch"

He messily devoured the gorish pulp using his already bloodied teeth.

Dozens of minutes passed, and bit by bit the dead body loosed its flesh while its bones started to become visible. After approximately one hour, all that that remained was solid and greyish white bones with a tint of red.

He wanted to clean off the meat that was glued to the bones as well, but his attention turned elsewhere.

In front of him was a bleeding girl who had a bite mark on her neck that continuously spewed out blood. Chasing her was a group of zombie in tattered cloths and bloody wounds.

His cloudy mood instantly vanished when the scent of fresh, warm blood reached his nostrils.

He quickly looked around and found a corner shrouded in darkness. He walked to the shadows and hid in its embrace unnoticed by anyone.

***

"Please...Someone, Help"

She ran deep into the dark alley with a tired expression on her face while. Her plead for help was heard by no-one because it was weak and feeble. Her steps was slow and messy that it felt like she was drunk or high. She swayed toward the both sides like she was going to fall soon.

It seems like she had run for a long time and she has lost a lot of blood reducing her to this weaker state.

But even that slowness was still enough to overtake the zombies chasing her, who were even slower like snails.

She continued advancing through the dark alley while panting heavily like a horse. Even though exhaustion was apparent all over her being, there was a hint of happiness deep in her heart because she managed to get away from her pursuers.

It seems like everything was safe and good...at least for a moment.

She didn't even have time to respond as a hand with three terrifyingly sharp claws on its knuckle struck her head like a train piercing through a solid wall without sustaining any damage to itself.

"Guh"

One claw pierced the top of her skull in an angled and escaped from the other side. The other struck her head right at the center while the last claw sank into her ear while ripping through it.

Life extinguished in her eyes as crimson blood painted the zombie in red liquid.

***

"Munch, Munch, Munch"

Dexter tore off the skin and flesh from her back and stuffed them into his mouth.

Two trails of blood trailed down his face, but he quickly wiped them off before stuffing another mouthful.

His hunt was successful and rewarding since he got to satiate his hunger for at least a couple of hours, but from experience, he knows that it won't be long before it reappears again.

And at that time, he had to hunt again and make sure this never-ending hunger stays dormant.

"Graaaa"

Three zombies appeared from the darkness while growling in a low tone.

Unlike the nameless zombies, they swayed and struggled to maintain their balance while walking. Their hands hung lifelessly as if they refuse to be of any use to their owners.

Just like the nameless zombie they had a rotten, disgusting smell all around them.

Three of them slowly walked toward the girl's corpse with the same hunger deeply reflected in their eyes.

However, before they could approach her, a zombie, much taller and bigger blocked their path. This zombie released a threatening aura through its crimson red eyes and the claws protruding from the spaces between the knuckles of the both hands.

The aura was dreadful and threatening, but the zombies continued approaching the dead body with mouths agape.

The nameless zombie glared at the three zombies for a moment before stretching his hands backwards. The claws glistened in the moonlight and illuminated the environment for a moment.

"Swoosh"

Then he swung his claws toward the head of the closest zombie. The front top area of the zombie's head was slashed into three slices and through these three slices rotten blood started to seep out with a sickening stench.

The zombie was thrown into the left wall with a thud and was fell on the floor like a broken doll. Even the cloudiness of its eyes were now gone.

The other two zombies ignored what happened and continued marching.

The nameless zombie launched his right arm's claws right into the next zombie's eyes. its eyes got crushed as the silver blade looking claws sank into the eyes sockets. The zombies bones were broken and its eyes were gone but even that failed to stop its march.

It continued advancing forward while the blades continued sinking more into its flesh.

The nameless zombie looked at it for a moment before driving his free left hand into the zombie's head from the side.

The three claws bit deep into the skull of the zombie, with its life was extinguished within seconds.

Without wasting a second, the nameless looked behind him to find the other zombie already crouching in front of the dead body to feed.

But before it could bring the scooped-up meat to its mouth, three sharp claws decapicated it from behind in a messy way.

The head flew in the air and hit the right wall before bouncing and stopping next to the dead body.

The zombie's body trembled for a moment before falling on to the girls' body with a light thud.

The nameless zombie tossed the zombie dead body away before crouching next to the human body. Without showing any emotions or acknowledgement to the dead zombies he started eating.

After all that was all that mattered.

***

After close to two hours, he had eaten all the meat the girl had to offer.

In front of him was cleaned off bone parts of different sizes while around him was a graveyard of undead.

Dead zombie without various parts of their bodies Covered the ground. It was hard to even take a walk without stumbling on oneself.

Because of the thick bloody stench that was in air, a lot of zombies made their way to the dark alley in search of food, but they only got to walk for a few seconds before they died.

He looked at the dead bodies of the already dead zombies.

He was still hungry and he wanted to eat more.

So he crouched down near one of them. He dug his hand into the abdomen of one and scooped out a handful of flesh that had a greyish tint to it. He then brought it to his mouth and gulped it down without any reaction.

It was the first time he ate zombies, and the only difference was the texture of the meat. Zombie meat was much softer than the normal human meat.

he lingered for a moment and continued eating them one by one as well.

The nameless zombie didn't eat the flesh of the others-Humans and zombies=to satisfy his senses or to satisfy himself.

No

To him, eating was different.

He ate to satisfy his hunger.

Hunger so deep and primal that even if he ate the whole world, he wouldn't be able to satisfy its malevolent desire to consume more and more.

"Munch, munch, munch"

He continued devouring the greyish meat while the world continued its march toward a new day.

***

Far away from him, toward the north, stood a massive black wall that shone in the midnight like it was made out of obsidian. Surrounding this massive wall was a defensive line made from various vehicles, including M-ATV, Humvees and civilian vehicles.

Behind the line, close to it were 8 M1A2 Abrams SEP V3S with their aims at the countless gaps between the countless white buildings. M2 brownings were also mounted on some of the cars and were aimed at the buildings.

Thousands of soldiers clad in a full black soldier uniform paired with a black gas mask patrolled the area for any signs of danger. Even though there were thousands of them in the defensive lines, they were mostly scattered along the massive area.

Except for a one big tent on the middle of the defensive line which was surrounded by close to hundred soldiers.

And in that tent two middle age men was sitting on the opposite sides of the table. One was chubby and had receding hairline while the other was muscular and had greyish white hair.

The chubby one stared into the other man's eyes and said.

"Didn't I say Captain?..."

"Nobody Gets out from Shadow point Viper Malloy alive."
