Before the beginning, there was Nothing. There were no concepts, no ideas, no anything. Nothing is the sole existence before anything ever appeared. Or so it was before something appeared, making way for everything else to exist. That was the birth of the universe. But Nothing did not like that, it would make everything nothing again, not out of malice, but pure hatred for its opposite.
Everything struggled in an endless war against nothing, growing bigger and better, but never besting non-existence. The universe developed and through millions of years making and army to combat nothing, life appeared.
Although a product of a war, life felt precious, something to protect. As years passed life developed and in a small planet known as earth, humanity was born.
This marked the very first appearance of the species, but certainly not the last. While they didn't seem any different from regular apes in their beginnings, they had a unique adaptation, where they developed intelligence.
This was when concepts first appeared, among them the concept of a human.
As the concept of a human opened his eyes, he asked himself
"What is a human? What... am I?"
As he wandered around the conceptual realm, no concept could help the human concept understand his existence, but some did tell him to give himself a name.
Though it may not seem like much, a name is what defines a concept. Many concepts give themselves names in order to solidify their place in the conceptual hierarchy.
"A name... A name... What to call myself?... Oh, I know, from today onwards i'll go by the name of Adam[1]."
Adam[2] looked just like your average human man. He has beautiful brown eyes, short brown hair, about 180 Cm[3] in height and 75 Kg[4] in weight.
Adam was a low ranking member of conceptual society, which meant he had to struggle just to stay alive one more day. Thankfully, he had two rare abilities, even among concepts. First was his ability to adapt and evolve, which was furthered by his second ability, which consisted of creating new things, new concepts.
Adam found this when, after being attacked by conceptual animals, he made a spear with a stick.
"Humans are adaptable, ever evolving" and "Humans are creative, innovative" were the first things Adam found about humans, those were the powerful traits he would utilize to get to the top and understand his existence.
With their newfound capabilities, humans could defend themselves from animals, both small and large. Other concepts of living creatures came and went as their species disappeared, mammoths, giant bugs and dinosaurs all came and went, their concepts alongside them, but humanity prevailed. Partly due to its own abilities, partly because of the help of constant level concept, Pyro, the concept of fire.
Directly above low-ranking concepts were the constant concepts, these had low-ranking concepts as subordinates, but were still on the lower end of the hierarchy, having both the Core concepts and the Ancient concepts above them.
What is fire?
Fire is a chemical reaction consisting of releasing energy as both heat and light through the process of combustion, the reaction of fuel with oxygen. This means Pyro is very irritable, just like the flames which change at every minimal change in temperature.
Pyro is completely made of fire, in spite of having a human like body shape. He turns different colors depending on the emotions he feels. He is normally orange, but when angered he turns blue, when embarrassed turns red, when surprised turns yellow, and when disgusted turns green.
Thanks to Pyro's assistance, humans lived more comfortably as they settled in a single spot instead of being nomads.
After making a non-moving home, Adam began to subjugate the various concepts of animals, so long as they were useful to him.
Through the years, as human civilization evolved, Adam made new concepts, representations of the wheel, clothes and even things like intelligence. This, and the fact that pretty much every corner of land on earth were occupied by humanity, meant Adam had become the top-rated low-ranking concept.
This intrigued various constant concepts, some of which did not like the idea of a low-ranking concept of a species getting promoted to a constant concept. This made Adam involve himself in countless conflicts, but through all of them, Adam adapted to the new threat and prevailed.
He made boats and conquered the seas, made planes and made the air his, tamed fire and electricity. All these concepts would soon unite and become the followers of humanity.
Though he made a name for himself, Adam would soon struggle to beat the resisting constant concepts, let by the concepts of water and of nature.
Humans are ambitious, they always want more, and more, and more. That's why they are at odds with most concepts, some of which very troublesome to have as enemies. The ambition to go higher on the hierarchy was the origin of the concept of the original sin, Greed. This shows that the concept humanity is sometimes held back by the concepts he creates, meaning humanity is its own worst weakness but, at the same time, the things it creates are also its greatest strengths.
It is those strengths that give humanity the ability to go toe to toe with other concepts, some of which far greater than itself. That is why, as long as humanity's ambition still exists, we will continue to evolve and, even if it leads to our destruction, it is our path to walk as a species.
[1] To anyone who doesn't know, Adam is the first human male to ever exist in the bible. Was tempted by the serpent to eat the apple of knowledge.
[2] I am going to switch between Adam, Concept of a Human and Concept of Humanity, but it's referring to the same character
[3] About 5.9 feet
[4] About 165 pounds
