Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Anissa's Diplomatic envoy

The arrival of the aliens on Earth was an incident that as expected sparked controversy, as soon as the alien ship was seen floating above the United Nations Secretariat building, the streets were quickly flooded by all kinds of people

There were protesters against the aliens settling on Earth, people who were simply curious about the aliens, news crews, and even conspiracy theorists.

Fortunately, the GDA had anticipated this and managed to secure a perimeter to keep the people out, to ensure the safety of not only the building but the aliens as well of course this didn't stop people from tossing certain things at the building or the agents securing the area.

Meanwhile, within the building itself, representatives from all member nations of the UN were in awe as they witnessed the aliens.

Anissa and Lucan were currently floating several meters off the ground, demonstrating the Viltrumite ability to fly.

"As you can see, we Viltrumites possess a plethora of abilities such as flight, from what we know, only a select few in this world are capable of something like unassisted flight. That is the difference between our peoples"

She explained, her tone as neutral as it could be. She maintained such a tone not to sound threatening to the earthlings.

The reason she had to reveal the abilities that all Viltrumites are capable of is that the president of the UN General Assembly had been curious about what the true difference was between humans and Viltrumites.

"When you say, "plethora of abilities" do you mean to say, flight is not the only special ability your people possess"

Ms. Olenna Boeck asked. The tone of voice did not convey her emotions. However, there was apprehension in her eyes, apprehension that told that she was beginning to realise that a mistake was made somewhere.

They should have found this out long before the aliens set foot on Earth.

"Indeed, in addition to our ability to fly, we also possess strength and Invulnerability that are incomparable"

"I see"

Olenna leaned back on her chair, a weary look marking her face. Her gaze found the GDA director seated right at the back of the room. Her eyes signaled Cecil to work quickly and find ways to combat these Viltrumites.

"Thank you for sharing such information. Diplomatic officer Anissa"

"Think nothing of it, even in the event you hadn't asked, the emperor had ordered we be transparent about what we are capable of to foster trust between us and humanity"

Anissa explained, the emperor had spoken to her about transparency and honesty with the humans, but he informed her of not only that but also gave command that she was to hold off speaking of Viltrumite history and only do so when it's brought up, her words should be carefully worded and contain only half-truths.

"Your Emperor is quite wise"

Olenna gave praise, however inwardly she was disappointed in herself for such an oversight. She will need the UN Security Council and the GDA to work overtime once these aliens settle

"Indeed, I'll be sure to tell him of your compliment"

A small silence settled into the room as soon as that exchange ended. It was a moment of silence where the representatives realized they were a bit too hasty in their agreement to let the aliens settle on Earth.

"Moving on to the more important issue, the trade between us and the Viltrumites"

Both Anissa and Lucan descended onto the floor and settled into their specially reserved seats. The point of this entire meeting was more about the details of the trade deal, rather than the deal itself.

Essentially, it was about the specifics of who gets what, or more specifically more about what the Viltrumite are going to be getting, since everyone already knows what Earth will be getting.

The deal itself was practically already finalized. What was left was an official shake of hands, the signing of a legally binding document

"The agreement between the Director of the GDA and our Emperor, was that Earth would receive agricultural, military, and space-faring technology from us, however what we the Viltrumites receive was never discussed at length"

Anissa explained, and she immediately noticed how everyone in the room took a lean forward, as they began paying full attention to her.

This was a meeting about where the Viltrumites are willing to settle. The country they choose will be the one that will be the primary point of contact between humanity and the aliens. Not only that, but they will also be the country that will be first to get the benefits of having an advanced alien civilization living on their soil.

"Indeed, as such, it's necessary now to have that conversation, and figure out which environment and Biome the Viltrumite people can be able to thrive in

Olenna expressed adding on to Anissa's statement.

"But before that, Ms. Anissa, I believe all of us would like to witness the technology the Viltrumites are promising to Earth"

"Of course, President Olenna"

Anisa readily complied before tapping the device on her wrist and a pale blue holographic image sprang to life.

It was an image of a spherical object that looked similar to the traditional grenade. However, it was about the size of a human head and did not have a pin to pull.

"This is the anti-craft plasma bomb, designed specifically to destroy any space vessel without the proper shielding"

Announced Anissa and her ears picked up the murmurs from representatives who marveled at her demonstration.

"Although this specific model is what we Viltrumites had reverse engineered, using the Tetramand's model as a base"

"Tetraman??"

Olenna looked at her with a curious expression. Of course, they were not aware of the Tetramand species of aliens, Anissa did not fault them for that. Very few planets ever bother to explore beyond their own solar system.

"TetramanD, We will provide you with a list of all the relevant species that exist within this galaxy and beyond. For the time being, let me explain the weapon"

The President gave her a nod, and the mention of other alien races had forced her to fully realize that they were truly alone in this vast universe. She hadn't really thought that deeply about the fact that aliens had just made contact with Earth.

Even when Martian man had arrived, it felt more like a neighbor visiting rather than an alien from billions of light-years. With these Viltrumites, they looked so human that it was easy to believe they were more human than alien.

It was a weird experience not just for the UN Assembly President but for Cecil and all the representatives in the room. It really drove home that Earth was but a pale blue dot in the vast emptiness of the universe.

Anissa continued giving an in-depth explanation of the plasma bomb, detailing how it is most effective within the vacuum of space since there is no atmospheric pressure to push against the rapid expansion of the plasma

Although it would be almost as effective when used on the planet's surface.

"Earth already has satellites and a space station. Using the already existing satellites, the standard use for the plasma bombs is what you'd call cannonballs. Launching them off satellites to enemy oncoming ships"

With another tap to the device on her wrist, another holographic image was displayed, showing a long cylindrical barrel, it was similar to the barrel of a tank, the difference being that its make was designed for spherical ammunition rather than the typical rounds.

The demonstration of the weaponry and technology that the Viltrumites will be sharing with Earth continues for several minutes. She divulges all the necessary technology that Earth would need.

From weapons, such as high-intensity laser cannons, for on-the-ground offensive action, hard light shield projectors for spacecraft, military vehicle shielding, and individual soldier defense.

She didn't just stop at military weapons but continued to display agricultural technology as well. Displaying A.I. controlled agricultural vehicles such as tractors, combine harvesters, and seeders.

She even told them of the Viltrumite molecular nutrient synthesizer. The MNS is a device used to generate nutrient-rich food bars. Since Viltrumites can get their nutrients from any food they consume. The food bars produced by the MNS are snacks for long voyages.

It wasn't just machinery, but Anissa showed them varying kinds of products to help in rapid seed growth, and new ways of producing genetically modified foods.

Although Aniss did not demonstrate any new type of medicine or medical technology, she reasons that it would be better to get familiar with this world medical field first as medicine is incredibly unique, and what Viltrumites considered a sickness might not be on Earth.

As Anissa continued her demonstration, Lucan felt himself snicker, He's been largely quiet throughout the demonstration. However, the more Anissa spoke, the more he noticed the Earthlings practically salivated at the thought of getting their hands on Viltrumite technology.

He couldn't help but think of how easy it would be to conquer this planet. Instead of going to such lengths to please these weak creatures, it would be quicker and more efficient to just conquer them.

'What was the Emperor even thinking?'

He questioned himself while he let his body settle onto the chair. Lucan was among the few who were not truly sold on this idea. It made no sense to him. Why make attempts to please such an inferior species? Simply taking the planet forcefully would achieve similar results.

Of course, Lucan kept these thoughts to himself, The emperor had told them that if they objected to his ways, then they were welcome to challenge him and take the thrones.

Unfortunately, Lucan was well aware of his own strength, and facing the Emperor was futile. It wouldn't even be a battle, and so he could only suck it up and accept it.

"And that is the gist of the technology we will be sharing, any questions"

"I give the floor to the representatives for questions"

Olenna opened the floor for questions from the representatives. From her side, the only question was regarding the alien species Anissa had mentioned at the beginning. However, they are not relevant right now.

"I have a question. It's regarding the material to use for military weaponry. Would earthen alloy be sufficient?"

The USA representatives raised the question. His question was valid, nobody knows the kind of material the Viltrumites have, and it would be stupid to assume their metals are similar to Earth's metals.

"I see no reason it would not be. Any sufficiently durable alloy should be sufficient"

Anissa answered, although considering that the Earthlings were fragile, it would not be out of the question for their materials and alloys to be fragile as well.

"What about the Molecular Nutrient Synthesizer device you mentioned? Would it be possible to mass-produce it?"

Another representative asked.

"Yes, it's fairly simple in its make, thus should be easy to produce"

She answered, the questions continued for a few more rounds before it was paused, and it was motioned to get to the next pressing issue, which was the Viltrumite settlement.

Something that everyone present had a much more vested interest in, after Anissa's demonstration.

"Thank you for the small presentation Ms Anissa, now we will move to discuss the matter of settling your people."

Olenna informed and as soon as her words she could practically feel the room become a bit more alive, everyone knew the tech Anissa had shown was but the tip of the iceberg, and thus this was now the time to start preparing their speeches for why the Viltrumites should settle in their home country.

Anissa and Lucan both let their gaze wander around the room, picking up on the renewed energy.

It was easy to tell that they all thought the Viltrumites would be looking for the right place, with the right environment for themselves, but unfortunately, their assumptions were wrong. Viltrumites' resilience ensured that they could survive some of the harshest environments in the galaxy.
