Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Complete

Once the food was brought out, the talks with the presidents were wrapped up, and the Viltrumites were left to enjoy their food.

...

"Sir, isn't this a little bit reckless?"

Donald questioned while walking beside Cecil, who had his hand stuffed in his pockets, his pace slow and relaxed.

"Maybe, but I've made sure they won't find out, and even if they do, there's plenty of excuses to cover for us."

The director offered his explanation. Cecil was the type that didn't trust others easily, and he was the type to want to gain an advantage as early as possible to make things easier and smoother in the long run.

Donald looked at him, still not fully convinced, and he couldn't help but feel his stomach tie into knots.

"Think of it like a test Donald, if all of them possess superhuman abilities, it's important to find their weakness as quickly as possible, don't worry I didn't put any poison, just some heavy tranquilizers to put them to sleep"

He continued. It was a long-held belief that eating too much food in a single sitting makes you drowsy and sleepy. If that happens, it will be easier to explain.

It's a common thing to feel a bit sleepy when you eat a lot of food in a single sitting. It was a well observed phenomenon, and Cecil believed it was a good enough excuse.

Donald was still a bit more skeptical. However, he said no more. There was no point in arguing against something that was already done.

.....

The bright flash of a plethora of Cameras flashed onto his face from all directions, each catching every subtle movement and angle of his face.

At this moment, he was a spectacle, a novelty to be observed by the humans. The innate human curiosity would never allow him to be anything but that for the next coming years.

"Ahem!"

He cleared his throat and adjusted the mic before him. He stood on an elevated podium, behind him being his entourage of Viltrumites, equally receiving the same amount of attention from the cameras. further behind them were the world leaders and members of the UN.

"I offer my salutations and greetings to the people who inhabit this planet Earth. My name is Emperor Thragg, and my people have come to your planet seeking refuge, a place to stay and repopulate. I know that to many of you, those words may have some negative connotations. However, believe me, we have come not to cause any sort of harm to you…"

The moment he began to speak, the flashing lights intensified to such a degree that he could have sworn they were making attempts to blind him.

He has never been on the receiving end of the press or paparazzi before. However, he could now understand how some actors would lose their minds at the paparazzi for something like this.

Thragg continue his speech, firstly offering thanks to the United Nations for their hospitality, and the addressing the concerns of the general public before then moving onto the trade deals that were made between the empire and earth, showing the general public that Viltrumites will be beneficial to the planet.

In the meantime while Thragg was giving his speech and was being broadcast throughout the whole world.

Somewhere in the United States, specifically Chicago, in an abandoned factory, a rather horribly disfigured man, floated in a vat of water inside a cylindrical container.

His body was as small similar to that of a toddler, his head grotesque and huge, far larger than any organ in his body, arms and legs were short and stubby much like baby. his shoulders mismatch in height, one dipped low, and the other stretched high.

He was the furthest thing from handsome and his life was that of misery and suffering. The container filled with water was the only safe place for him, the very air was poison to him, and breathing without tubes and filters jammed up his nose, was nothing but an exercise in masochism.

Rudolph Conners was a man born to suffer in a world that would never see him as nothing more than a freak of nature.

The abandoned factory building was something he acquired through deals with the government. He was a disfigured freak that many would say he should have died at birth. However, he was also a certified genius.

Thanks to that genius he was able to not only turn the building into a work shop but he was able to build a plethora of robotic armors that would function as his eyes, ears, hands and feet, allowing him to be fully independent and take care of himself.

Even so, despite his genius, he still could not find a way to that would allow him to eat normally and not through tubes.

"Aliens??"

At first it was curiosity, aliens weren't unheard of, Martian man was quite popular, so the idea that aliens were out there was not new, however an entire empire coming to settle on Earth was certainly bizarre.

Rudolph's curiosity grew into something else. The more news about these aliens came out, prompting him to do a little hacking into the government website, and there he found hope.

" A technological exchange for the opportunity to mate and breed with humans"

When he was a child, many doctors have told him that any surgery on his body would result in death, it wasn't just his bones that were wrong, it was everything, his body responded differently to certain hormones and drugs meaning any anesthesia could possibly be lethal.

His organs were also wrong, his lungs weren't as big as they should be, his heart did not beat as fast as it should be. The statement "you should have died at birth" was the truest statement ever spoken. It was by pure miracle that he lives.

"With the technological advancement of these extraterrestrials its possible my condition could be… adjusted"

He was hesitant to say the word "fixed" it was never a good idea to get your hopes up.

"hmm, do I need to contact the Viltrumites directly, or should I contact the GDA?"

He began to think through his options, Reverse engineering alien technology would require skilled individuals like himself, not only that but he also has a solid track record of developing various gadgets for United States military.

Some of the specs for the earliest versions of his robot armor were sold to the military.

"I should be qualified to work with them"

However the issue came from the fact despite being a genius his condition has prevented him from proper schooling, not only that, if would take a long time to reverse engineer the technology and at this point he doesn't know if he's patient enough for that.

Directly going to the aliens and proving his worth to them would not only be quicker, but he would have access to their knowledge and technology.

However, there was nothing saying the aliens would accept him or even be willing to speak to him.

"hmm"

He hummed, deep in thought. Whatever his choice may be, for the first time in his life, he felt a sense of hope. The future has never looked so bright.
