"We found this continent to be suitable mostly because it does not have any indigenous populations as such we wouldn't be taking land from any pre-existing population but also the continent itself is unaffiliated with any of the nations of this planet"
Her words poured water on all the anticipation the representatives felt. Antarctica was the worst location they could have picked as it guaranteed that no government would have the monopoly on viltrumite technology.
Not only that, but it would be difficult to secretly send spies to the continent. After all, someone can not just wander into Antarctica, and no tourists go there.
Cecil was able to quickly deduce the reasons why they chose that specific location.
The Viltrumites were essentially making a statement, "We'll share our technology, but we don't want anything to do with your politics"
Normally, that would be a terrible move, as no country could survive total isolation. However, these were aliens with technology surpassing Earth's technology.
The very fact that they have a device to make food using molecules in the air was proof enough that they could be self-sustaining.
As much as the Viltrumites' choosing Antarctica to settle would make it difficult to monitor them, the location still favored the GDA, the reason being that it was highly likely that the Viltrumites would want the GDA to be the point of contact between them and the leaders of the world
The director of the GDA smiled and let out an amused chuckle. He stood up and spoke.
"The GDA fully supports this decision by the Viltrumites. and let me be the first to say. Welcome to Earth, we hope you'll have a lovely stay".
Anissa took notice of Cecil's slight smirk, and the man was quick to take an opportunity, which was an admirable quality.
.....
The bright blue sky that stretched over the ice continent of Antarctica became peppered with a plethora of alien space vessels, floating above the continent like flies on standby.
A majority of the Viltrumite ships were floating above the continent, waiting for permission to land while a few vessels, mainly the mothership accompanied by a few more ships, floated above the streets of New York, covering the sky and looming over the city as if they came to conquer the planet.
Of course, this garnered the attention of the civilians and many more people. The protests against the aliens came to a halt as people began to fear retaliation from the aliens.
However, this did not stop the news and the internet from going wild. Images and videos of the Viltrumite setting foot on the planets and making their way into the United Nations building went viral on social media.
Debbie Grayson had been preoccupied with classwork when she decided to take a break and turned on the television.
[ As you can see here, the man in the red clothes, from the information we were given, is the Emperor of these aliens. The aliens call themselves the Viltrumites. As you can see, they're identical to humans in every way.
Apparently, it's because of how similar they are to us that they chose to come here. For what reason?
Well, the answer to that is a lot simpler than you might think. From what we know these aliens have come to earth in order to repopulate, that's right apparently they are an endangered species, and since they look so similar to us they believe we would be compatible with them….]
The news anchor continued to share the information the UN had chosen to share with the general public, as she spoke, the TV show videos footage of 5 muscular individuals, one who wore red robes shaking hands and greeting the UN representatives as well as the president of some powerful nations.
All of them were incredibly muscular, The Emperor in red robes, as well as another dark skinned man beside him had the biggest and were physically imposing, while the other three two women and a man were much leaner but had clear visible muscle.
"Are they all that well built?"
Debbie whispered to herself curiously, She found herself specifically focusing on an alien that wore red clothing. There was something about him that seemed to interest her for some reason.
[ Now, we are told the aliens are not demanding humans to uhm… breed with. However, if you are interested, you are free to visit the United Nations website and volunteer.
And for those of you who were worried about the aliens taking up land, you'll be happy to know the aliens have chosen to settle on Antarctica and they'll be building their settlement there, so no one is going to be forced to leave their land.
To explain the situation a bit further, we have a spokesperson for the UN to explain everything for us….]
The TV then split into two screens and displayed the news anchor and a man wearing a dark blue suit. After a short introduction, the man began to explain the gist to everyone watching the news.
During that explanation, Debbie found herself looking at her phone and began scrolling through social media, curious about what the general public had to say about this.
[Why Antarctica? Think people what could be in Antarctica that aliens would want? Maybe because other aliens are living there too? Think about it, what do we actually know about Antarctica in the–]
In the first video she saw, Debbie immediately scrolled, completely skipping the video entirely. She just knew the conspiracy theorists were going to have a field day with all this.
[What if these are the aliens that built the pyramids? Think about it, for a long time now, we've speculated that the pyramids in Egypt were alien-made. What if these Viltrumites were the ones who built them, otherwise–]
She quickly scrolled again, this time rolling her eyes. She hoped her feed was not going to be infested with these kinds of videos.
The next voice she saw she hoped was not a conspiracy theorist, and it wasn't. However, it wasn't any better.
[Hubbba Hubba! Hello daddies! Tell me I'm not the only one seeing this? Coz why are they all built like lumberjacks on steroids?]
The person on the video went on to describe the aliens, appearances, their clothing, and how the three men seem to keep a nicely cut and clean mustache, while also making many comments about how she wouldn't mind having the aliens probe her.
Debbie felt that she agreed with her on some level. These aliens were definitely not the green-skinned and big-eyed aliens she was expecting. They were far better.
She left a comment agreeing before she scrolled away. As she continued to scroll, she saw many other videos discussing how good the aliens look and others discussing the possible reasons why the aliens chose Antarctica.
The more she scrolled the more she noticed how fewer and fewer people seemed to be talking against the aliens settling on earth, she couldn't tell if videos against the aliens were being suppressed or if the news of the Viltrumite settling was enough to distract people from that topic.
"In any case, it will be interesting to see what the aliens bring"
She couldn't help but feel just a bit excited. These were interesting times she was living in.
