Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

After shaking hands, greeting, and having appeared before all the representatives of the UN, Thragg and his entourage were allowed a short break. They weren't done with everything, as Thragg was expected to give a short speech.

With him were four other Viltrumites, two being Anissa and Kregg, and the other two being Lucan and Thula. He would have brought Conquest. However, he feared the name "Conquest" would raise some red flags amongst the humans.

"Sire, if I may speak?"

Thula, who stood right beside Anissa, had her arms on her back and her stance showing her discipline as a soldier. She and Kregg were amongst the only Viltrumites in the room who were setting foot on the planet, aside from the Emperor

"You may"

He allowed, resting his back on the couch, letting himself feel a bit more comfortable. In all honesty, he wanted to slowly change his demeanor so that he wouldn't have to be so rigid in the way he carries himself.

"This planet is perfect. While I understand the mission is to repopulate, would it not suffice as a permanent home planet?"

She asked, and the question itself seemed fairly simple. However, Thragg understood what she was getting at. Earth was a prime planet to conquer. It would work as a second Viltrum.

If he were to be honest, he won't say the idea of conquering Earth hasn't crossed his mind, but he'd rather not do that, after all as much as he may have Thragg's memories, he was still just pretending to be an Emperor, and unfortunately humans aren't the types to back down no matter how outgunned they are.

He could successfully conquer Earth, but they would continue to resist. Even if the Viltrumites made everyone's lives better, humanity would still resist. Honestly, it wasn't worth the headache.

"It would be perfect as a second home for us, I don't think humans would accept us as permanent citizens, so let's not get ahead of ourselves."

Obviously, he didn't truly believe all of that. It would be difficult for the next generation of Viltrumites to up and leave the only home they've known.

"In any–"

Before Thragg could continue, a knock came, and the double doors to the rock were swung open.

"Apologies, it occurs to me that you might not know what a knock is."

Cecil informed as he entered, besides him was Donald, and behind both of them were several representatives from superpower nations, as well as members of the UN Security Council.

"No need for apologies, apologies, Director Stedman, we'll learn Earth customs eventually"

Thragg stood from his chair and greeted Cecil, giving him a firm handshake.

"It's a pleasure to finally meet you face to face, Director. You're much taller than I imagined."

"The pleasure is mine, Emperor Thragg, and you're much more intimidating in person"

"Ha! I try not to be, but I suppose as an Emperor that's a compliment, I accept"

After some friendly exchange of words, Cecil proceeded to introduce Thragg to the guests he brought with him.

There were four world leaders present: the president of China, the United States, and Russia, as well as the prime minister of the UK. Then, there were three high-ranking members of the UN Security Council.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, guests. Please forgive us if we say something out of turn or if we seem rude. We are new to this planet, after all."

"The pleasure is ours, Emperor Thragg. Please don't worry. We'll be able to understand."

The United States president responded, stepping forward and electing himself as the spokesperson for the group.

"I offer my thanks then. To what do we owe this visit? I had assumed all that was left was my speech to address and lessen the concerns of the global community."

"That's what's left to do, Emperor. However, we come to you for the possible security concerns"

Thragg found himself just slightly puzzled, mostly because he had assumed any security concerns would be handled by the GDA., If the Viltrumites wanted to find mates, they would need to work with the GDA anytime they set foot on one of the continents.

The GDA would be their handlers to ensure the safety of any human who eventually gets involved with a Viltrumite.

"What do you mean by security concerns? I assumed the GDA would handle everything related to that"

"Yes of course. However, this is less of a security concern but more of a social visit to ensure that the Viltrumites will have friendly relations with our respective nations"

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom spoke with a friendly smile on his face.

"Ah, I see…"

Thragg turned to look at Cecil, and the GDA director did not speak a word. He would have shrugged. However, he was unsure if the Emperor would know what the gesture meant in this context.

However, regardless of that, Thragg understood what this was about. His memories of his past life informed him that nations like China, Russia, and the US had great political influence.

This was essentially them trying to see if the Viltrumites would attempt to oppose them as a new power in the world. He imagined they did not want that.

If Thragg says anything that they don't like, not only will this make this difficult for the population plan, but he is sure they would use propaganda to fuel anti-alien rhetoric.

This was the big bad bully boss making sure the newcomers didn't mess with the status quo.

If he were to be honest, it was comical in a sense. It was like a child giving threats to an adult.

"Worry not, gentleman. We are not here to make enemies, nor make war but to make friends instead. It would be far too rude for us as guests to do such a thing."

"Of course, we aren't making assumptions that the Viltrumites are capable of such, but as you know, sometimes ignorance can force one to take action without knowing the full context of a situation."

The Russian president chimed in, his accent thick but understandable.

Now they were asking for non-interference from the Viltrumites, a request that Thragg had no issues with. After all, it was the reason he had chosen Antarctica to settle.

However, what was odd was the fact that all these people should be aware of that, yet they spoke as if it wasn't implied already.

'Do they want me to directly say it? Or are they asking for something deeper'

He knew they were asking that no Viltrumites interfere with their wars and conflicts, the line "ignorance forces us to action without knowing the context" was clearly about not getting misinformed about a situation and then acting on that misinformation.

They were saying, " Even though you don't plan to interfere, in the event that you are forced to, please try to get the story from both sides before you act."

"Thank you, we will keep that in mind. However, ignorance is not permanent. Sometimes, people learn and understand their surroundings better, allowing them to make the right decisions. We Viltrumites are great learners and people who value knowledge."

Obviously, the Viltrumite had no desire to involve themselves in Earth politics, but unfortunately, sometimes politics drags you in and forces you to participate.

"And that's that, Gentleman. Let's move to the pleasantries."

Cecil quickly broke up the debate and brought in a bit of levity with that announcement of his.

"Donald, the door…"

He instructed before turning to the Emperor and then clearing his throat. Meanwhile, Donald seemed to bolt out the door.

"I hope Viltrumites don't have any dietary restrictions because you're about to experience human hospitality"

The door swung open, and in walked a plethora of servants carrying trays of food, drinks, various dishes, and delicacies. It was a complete buffet.

"Oh! I have been looking forward to Earth food, Let us see how it holds up against some of the best foods in the galaxy"

As soon as Thragg saw the food he suppressed his smile and excitement, of course as a former earthling, he wanted to taste earth food once more, although he did not know if his current palate would appreciate it.

Once the food was brought out, the talks with the presidents were wrapped up, and the Viltrumites were left to enjoy their food.
