Rachel turned around completely, facing towards Nicholas who sat still with that serious look on his face. His look was calm and sharp, sharp enough to move through her defences, the kind of look from him that made something in her stomach turn.
"And what did he report back to you?" she asked, her words weighed with confusion, her expression clearly showing it. Her brows came together, her lips apart slightly as she tried to read, to know what it was he had found on her, to understand what he was trying to say without showing too much of her own thoughts.
Had he found out about David?
Did he find out David was his son?
Her mind spiraled, panic rising in her chest, but she quickly pushed the thought away, as quickly as it came.
