At some point, she became so lost in the innocent voice of her that she got lost in his story.
Her mind had gone somewhere else, but her heart was still there with her son.
Whenever he looked up at her expecting hear or to if she hadn't slept off, she would only murmur,
"Yes, baby," the words were enough to keep his story going.
While she watched him, listening to him talk about how his day had gone, with every detail, a slight ache formed at her chest. She wished David had a father figure to share some of this love with, someone else who would sit and listen to his endless stories and smile at him with the same warmth she always did to him.
And suddenly, James came to her mind.
She immediately stiffened, remembering how she had left him hanging on the last date, which was their first date and hadn't called him since then.
Guilt washed all over her.
