Chapter 10 - CHAPTER 10: THE ITCH OF DESTINY

Just at the very moment when Zyric asks his sister to leave, he is startled by something strange. His sister does not even move aside, but in fact embraces him in a hug, going behind his back.

"Look, I know you don't consider me as your sister, but in my heart, I have always thought of you as my brother. I see my father in you whenever I look at you. You say nothing, you tell me only once, even a word and I can forfeit everything- my name, my fame, all I have that I own, and be with you forever. We can live a normal life, Zyric. Think about it." Diana speaks with emotion, telling Zyric.

But Zyric, shaken and unable to accept it, pushes her away, and because of this sudden force, Diana stumbles back two steps. At that very instant, Zyric feels something sharp and stinging on his shoulder, exactly where Diana had placed her hand a moment before. A strange red glow, barely visible to the naked eye, appears in Diana's hand and transfers onto Zyric's shoulder, now glowing faintly there. Since it was so very small and faint, no one pays much attention to it.

"Nothing can ever go back to normal. Just go away from here!" Zyric shouts at Diana with frustration.

Diana, shocked, feeling unable to say anything in response just nods. "Okay, I am off, but take care of yourself." Uttering this in a low voice, she dons her mask and walks out of the room. She had to cover herself with a mask whenever she came to meet Zyric and this was the sure way that no one discovered that Diana was the sister to Zyric.

When Diana leaves, Zyric is left feeling the odd itchiness of something on his shoulder. He rubs the area repeatedly, but the annoyance just does not clear. He is unable to detect the glowing red object and under the assumption that it is only a regular allergic attack he does not pay any attention to it at all. Without a second thought he curls up on the bed, and falls asleep.

At the same time, Diana gets to an unknown and mysterious place. There is a number of guards standing there and as soon as they notice Diana coming their way, they all lower their heads in her honor and open a giant door to her. Diana walks through the door, where a doctor is already waiting there. "How far has the work progressed?" Diana asks, addressing Dr. Wade who is standing in front of her.

Dr. Wade immediately replies, "Dr. Diana, that Divine Stone is truly something very strange. We brought a dead body in contact with it, but instead of doing anything ordinary, that strange thing began consuming all the minerals, proteins, and every single substance left inside the dead body, and in turn, it was increasing its own strength. But the truth is, we still don't know what it is planning to do after consuming all that energy."

"Oh really? But what exactly do you mean by saying that it is consuming all the minerals and proteins and everything from the dead bodies?" Diana questions further.

"You should see it with your own eyes." Dr. Wade responds. After saying this, he leads Diana into another chamber. Suddenly what the stranger platform on which both Dr. Wade and Diana are standing begins to shiver a bit. After a few seconds massive hidden lift appears and they both get in. The lift then opens a passage under the ground and begins to descend deep inside.

After travelling very far downwards, Diana finally reaches a huge underground laboratory, a massive secret organisation of hers. It was here that such experiments and projects were carried out which were meant to remain hidden from the eyes of the entire world.

Getting out of the lift, Diana walks on and says, "Yes, Dr. Edwin, what exactly is Dr. Wade talking about the stone?

"Why not see the thing with your own eye?" Edwin replies. Ahead of them stands a chamber, its walls built of a specially reinforced glass layer. This glass is so incredibly strong that breaking it would be nearly impossible.

And there, behind that powerful glass, the stone itself is kept, glowing faintly with a strange red light. A corpse is taken and placed in front of it and when the stone feels the corpse, it starts glowing brighter. And out of the cadaver, there is bursting a queer red energy that comes pouring into the stone which causes the stone to glare even still more.

"Dr. Edwin, what is happening here?" Diana asks, astonished.

"Nothing has fully happened yet, just watch carefully," Edwin replies, urging her to observe. Diana continues watching intently. The dead body now starts to decay too quickly, and eventually is turned to ashes. Meanwhile, the radiance of the stone is becoming even greater, like never before in history.

And the stone opens its eyes perhaps recognising Diana around, and the effects on them are electrifying.

"What is this?" Dr. Edwin exclaims, quickly pulling his hand away from the control button in shock.

Meanwhile, the eyes of that glowing red stone fix themselves directly on Diana.

"Yes… this is the one. This is the girl. All I need is to have a means by which to approach her, to make her my host. Time is slipping away from me. If I return to my slumber, I will never gain enough strength from these worthless corpses. What I need is someone with great power." The stone thinks to itself while staring intently at Diana.
