Chapter 15 - CHAPTER 15: A FOOL MADE PERFECT

The Divine Stone had killed the mutant Giant Spider as if it were nothing, and Zyric stood there, completely shocked and in disbelief.

"Do you even understand how much money we could have earned if, instead of killing it, we had sold it in the market? And on top of that, it was untamed, which meant its Fuzan Vault liquid was really valuable. You killed it just like that. With the money we could have earned, my whole three months' rent would have been paid off easily," Zyric said in disappointment.

"O money, this bloody money… back there it was Holy Coins, and here it is money. Why the heck is everyone always behind money?" the Divine Stone muttered to himself.

"Holy Coins? What are Holy Coins?" Zyric asked curiously.

"Um, how should I even explain? Uh… it's like the money of our universe, or you can say our planet, or the place where I live… ah, leave it. You won't understand," the Divine Stone replied.

"Okay, forget all that for now. Just tell me one thing first, what would you have done if this giant spider had killed you right here, right now?" the Divine Stone asked Zyric.

"What would I do? I'm telling you, if you could catch it, you are so powerful after all, then we could have sold it easily, and enjoyed ourselves after selling it and getting the money. At least for some time," Zyric insisted.

"Yes, of course," the Divine Stone said flatly.

"Gosh! I'm afraid this kid will actually ask me to catch some monsters for him, just so he can sell them," the Divine Stone murmured to himself.

Before the Divine Stone could think further, Zyric pointed and said, "What was your name, Divine Stone? Look over there. You can see a snake going past. It's very expensive. If I sell it, my rent will easily be paid for at least a month. Please catch it for me."

"Huh, just as I thought it would happen," the Divine Stone muttered. So he strolled to the snake and grabbed it in his hands. The snake attempted to sting him, but its teeth disintegrated immediately, as though the whole body of the Divine Stone were of iron.

"You wanted it? Here, take it!" the Divine Stone said, and with that, he threw the massive snake directly at Zyric. The snake had two big horns filled with poison. Seeing the giant serpent coming toward him, Zyric panicked, ran back, and climbed up a tree.

"Now listen carefully and sit still. Stop moving around and let me focus. I need to connect with you," the Divine Stone instructed.

"Connect? Are you trying to hypnotize me and control me? Don't you dare try to possess me!" Zyric said fearfully.

"I am not going to possess your body. I would like my body to be just like yours. I already look like you but now I'm just connecting your mind to my mind and creating a body like yours with me inside it. Understand? Nothing will happen to you, just stay calm," the Divine Stone explained.

"Just let me focus, otherwise I swear this time I will pick up that snake and throw it directly at you on the tree!" the Divine Stone warned, glaring at Zyric.

"Okay, fine. I'll not do anything. Do what you have to do," Zyric agreed nervously.

The Divine Stone closed his eyes. He was able to feel Zyric's body now. "The rest of my pieces are in different universes. I can feel them scattered across different planets. I need to grow stronger first. Only then can I retrieve them. But I can also sense that those pieces are being used somewhere. This must be the work of that same old man", the Divine Stone thought.

Suddenly, he opened his eyes and looked at Zyric.

"Well, it's good that I'm choosing him as my host. Once I make him my complete host, I'll give him a piece of my stone. After all, he will never be able to become a strong monster tamer in his life, nor will he ever increase his strength. He's too weak and too innocent. He is perfect for me. If he remains weak, in the future he'll always work for me. When I first came here, I was worried I might find someone too capable, someone with potential to become powerful. Anyone with a Fuzan Vault can become strong, and I didn't want that kind of trouble. That's why I will never choose anyone like that."

The Divine Stone's eyes darkened. "Not this time. Last time, I gave a chance to someone powerful, and he destroyed my entire life. Not again. This time I've chosen someone stupid, weak, and innocent, someone who will never rise to power. That means he's worthy of being my host. Yes, worthy. I can tell he's the one. He will never be able to become powerful for as long as he lives."

The Divine Stone looked at Zyric with an evil smile, while Zyric stared back nervously.
