Chapter 12 - CHAPTER 12: FOUND THE MISSING PIECE

The Divine Stone, still in the form of Wade, was standing at the door of Dr. Diana's house, stressing and wondering why it could not sense its missing piece inside her.

"I still do not know where my piece is. I am still very weak. As for my last piece, the one that should have been inside this girl's body, it must surely be with someone connected to her, or perhaps somewhere along the path she takes every single day. I will have to figure out each and every possibility."

Doctor Wade, who in truth was none other than the Divine Stone itself, kept thinking in his mind where exactly the small piece, the one he had once placed inside Diana's body, could be if it was no longer with her. With that piece, the Stone had intended to gain control over Diana's body and turn her into its host. What it would do after that was still hidden, a plan shrouded in complete mystery.

"I am incomplete… yes, I am still incomplete. First, I must search for and find the piece that I left on her, and then I must make someone into my host. Only after that will I be able to track down all the other pieces that I have scattered across the universe, pieces that I can connect with easily, but only if I can first find a host."

"But I could only take one last piece of mine out of me, and that was the one I had placed on this girl. But this damn girl has lost it." The Divine Stone held its head tightly while thinking endlessly, for the constant strain of thoughts was causing unbearable pain in its mind.

"I am so weak… how have I become this weak? I took plenty of energy from that Wade." It kept thinking within itself, and then finally sat down in an attempt to calm and relax.

And almost as soon as we could say it, the sun had come out, and it was morning. Diana opened her door to go jogging as she did every morning, but the minute she did so she saw Dr. Wade was just standing there in the same position she had left him last night. It really appeared to her as though Dr. Wade had not changed a foot in position since that door had closed the previous night.

"Um… Dr. Wade, are you fine?" Diana asked with concern.

"Huh, uh, yes, yes, I am very fine. By the way, did you happen to meet someone yesterday? I need to know." Wade asked her directly.

"Me? No, I didn't go to meet anyone yesterday or even before. I don't even have a boyfriend whom I would go to meet, nor do I have anyone else that I would want to meet. But that definitely does not mean that you can propose to me again. Now, please give me space, let me get ready, and then we'll leave for the lab." She said this while going inside, thinking that Wade had simply come early to pick her up for work.

She got ready quickly and left with Dr. Wade in his car, unaware that it was actually the Divine Stone in disguise. Wade, without making any eye contact with Diana, drove straight towards the lab.

Before they could get off, Diana's phone rang. It was Dr. Edwin.

As soon as she picked up the phone she listened to him saying: "Dr. Diana wait and hear me carefully." That Dr. Wade who is with you right now is not Wade. It is actually the Stone in the form of Wade. I just found the real Dr. Wade in the glass chamber, and he told me everything. If that thing is with you now, something terrible can happen. Get out of its reach immediately. Wade had left the lab not too long ago and he is safe. Send me your location, I will get there with everyone to hel…" Before Dr. Edwin could finish his words, the Stone, still in Wade's form, suddenly snatched the phone from Diana's hand.

"What happened, Diana? Are you alright? Hello?" Dr. Edwin's voice came faintly through the phone.

"Yes, yes Dr. Edwin, Dr. Diana is absolutely fine. By the way, are you okay? Your voice is breaking up a little. I am disconnecting the call now. And yes, yes, we will reach the lab as soon as possible, you don't have to worry." Dr. Wade, who was actually the Stone, said this hurriedly, then disconnected the call and handed the phone back to Diana.

After this action, Diana was sure that this was not Dr. Wade at all. He was only pretending to talk so that she would not suspect him.

Moreover, Diana had already noticed the red glow in the eyes of that Stone pretending to be Wade.

"Uhm, Dr. Wade, do one thing, please sit here for a while. I will just go quickly, do something, and come back." Saying this, Diana started leaving.

But in the very next moment, the Stone grabbed Diana's hand. "Strange… even after holding her hand, I am not able to sense my piece. That means she does not have it." The Divine Stone thought silently to himself.

Diana slowly turned back, and there she saw Dr. Wade's both eyes glowing red. He was staring at her furiously.

"I will just ask you a single question. After lifting me with your hands, whom did you come in contact with? Whom did you meet? I want the list of every single one of those people." Dr. Wade, who was actually the Divine Stone, demanded of her.

"I… I did not go to anyone." Diana said fearfully, taking a deep breath before answering.

"That last small piece is extremely important for me." The Divine Stone kept mumbling to himself.

In the meantime, suddenly, a heavy stick struck hard against the Stone's head. When Diana quickly looked in that direction, it was none other than the real Dr. Wade.

"God… I came by this route coincidentally, thinking you might already be in your lab, and I was going to alert you about this Stone." After saying this, Dr. Wade, the real one, and Dr. Diana together dragged the Stone, still in Wade's form, into her lab and tied him tightly to a chair.

"Dr. Diana, we must leave here and bring more people with us. It will soon grow weaker and eventually turn back into a stone. As far as I know, that is exactly what should happen, according to the research." Dr. Wade said while looking firmly at the Stone.

"Oh you stupid human beings, you do not even comprehend what you are doing. I am only in search to find something that is mine. Just bring it back to me! Oy, Dr. Diana, yes, listen carefully, when you first lifted me in your hand, didn't you feel something like a minor stab in your palm? Remember it! That thing is a part of me, an element of mine, and I need it at any cost."

"I can give you whatever you ask in return. I can unveil great secrets. If you wish, I can even make two or three gods bow before you Earthlings. I have that much strength." The Divine Stone's voice grew weaker as he spoke, as though his power was fading away.

"Dr. Diana, let us leave immediately. Don't listen to him." Dr. Wade pulled Diana's hand, dragged her outside, and decided to call everyone, inform them about the Stone, and return with every possible resource required to contain it.

But not long after, perhaps just five minutes after Diana and Wade had left, Zyric arrived at Diana's lab.

"Dr. Wade? Is that you, Dr. Wade?" Zyric said in shock, seeing Dr. Wade tied to a chair in his sister's lab.

And the Divine Stone, still in the form of Dr. Wade, was surprised to see Zyric. But after a moment, an evil smile slowly spread across his face.
