Chapter 22 - CHAPTER 22

"Well that should've made you more aware that there were stairs in front of you!"

I had a good point, but he would've been too blind to notice the stairs even if he was Infront.

"It's not my fau—" I shut him up, covering his mouth with my hand. I turned his head to the crowd of zombies which were lumping brainlessly towards us. We were making quite the scene, especially on open land.

"Oh shoot. We're done for. ."

I grabbed his hand, and started running. "Do you really have to drag me? I can run on my own!" Was he really complaining in this situation? I really can't take anymore of this man. But I guess he wasn't wrong.

"Will you just shut up? I'm trying to help you here!"

I rolled my eyes, and let go since he so eagerly didn't want me helping him out.

We ran. Skipping like 3 buildings, making it to the 5th one on the street. We stopped to catch our breath, panting. I was sweating like crazy and it's barely been 2 hours. Well I'll have to take a nice hour long shower after this. If it's possible, that is.

After catching our breath, we both entered the building that we had stopped at. Since there were zombies swarming a few 10 feet behind us, we couldn't really turn back. There were. . approximately 7 buildings in this street, so I guess only 2 after this building. Though searching in buildings are boring, it was an effort to get our friends back.

Staying with this shit head any longer will make me lose my brain cells. We entered, and got in the elevator. This time I made sure to press the floor button; 38. But. . there was a small problem.

It.. didn't light up when I pressed it. Moreover, it probably didn't work. I pressed it a few more times, progressively getting more aggressive. Is it seriously broken?

I took my hand away, and Christian stepped in, and pressed it.

My jaw hung open. It worked?? What. The. Hell. Even elevators have some kind of favoritism. This isn't funny anymore.

No words were spoken throughout the elevator trip up, and once the elevator door opened, we looked around before getting out cautiously. It was pretty quiet, no zombies to be seen, yet. Once we started walking over to the closest room, I felt something sharp, and cold against my leg. I continued walking nevertheless, which was my first mistake. "ACK– ow, ow, ow, ow—" I groaned, falling to the ground. Did I seriously just cut my leg to a sharp metal fence?

Christian turned back to me, and just stood there for a second looking at me.

"How did you even manage to cut yourself?" He sighed.

By this point, I was already on the ground with my hand on the wound, to stop it from bleeding everywhere. I mean it wouldn't really matter if it did bleed everywhere...

But more reasonably, I don't want to lose blood, plus I'd rather not have my blood scattered everywhere.

"I don't freaking know??" I replied. He looked at me again, and without a word picked me.. up?? He cradled me, entered into the room we were going to, then put me down on the couch. I sat there, slightly confused.

He was searching the kitchen, and surprisingly enough, he found a first aid kit, it was pretty beat up, though. He came back to me, and. . . This man is full of surprises. He started to bandage my leg without a word. But, oddly enough he didn't look that bad from the angle where he was kneeling and bandaging my leg.

Wait. wait. No, no. I didn't mean that. He's a stupid, an idiot that can't go a second without arguing with me. I can't think dumb thougts like that.

I felt my face heating up, although it was out of my control, I tried calming down. It wasn't easy, but I managed.

I just looked away as he took care of my foot. This wound is going to leave a scar for sure. I sighed, leaning on the couch. I sat there for around 15 minutes before he finished. He stood up, and looked at me

"Can you walk?" He asked. I shrugged my shoulders.

"I'll try.." I tried getting up, luckily didn't fail. But when I started to walk, I could, but lost my balance. I almost fell back, but Christan caught me. He put one arm around his neck, and I tried walking. With some kind of difficulty I managed to take a few steps. But I could walk after a little bit. After all, it wasn't a very small wound.

"I think I can walk now." I started walking myself back to the couch. But it would be really troublesome to go searching in the buildings with an injured leg. I can't run properly, I'll just end up getting more hurt. Well.. this is going to take a few days- no, probably close to around two weeks. Well, the only option right now is to rest my leg, and I guess myself while I'm at it.

Christians pov:

I watched as Perry set herself down on the couch again. Damn this girl.

How are we supposed to progress? I can't just leave her here.

We could transport to the car, but it's dangerous keeping her in the open like that. Sigh. I feel like I'm her older brother or something. Taking care of her, and the hardest part is that I might have to go alone, even though it's risky to leave her here.

But I know she'd fight back if something happens. She's not the type to lay back and watch.

"Why don't I go and search one more building, and I'll come back here for today? It's already pretty late."

I suggested, I just want some kind of lead, so it feels like I made at least a little progress on finding them, especially Ruby.

She sighed.

"Be careful. If you die—." She started, but i cut her off.

"I'll haunt you." I replied snarkily, and she scoffed.

I went over to the front door. I picked up my pocket knife

And though I could ask for Perry's bat, she might need that incase of an emergency. Afterall, I'm leaving an injured person alone. It'll only take around 45 minutes to an hour, I hope. So it wouldn't be too long..

Damn it. I can't bring myself to leave her alone. What if something actually does happen? I'll be alone, and even if I do get Ruby and Nicole back, she won't be here. This is pretty annoying. She can defend herself.

I should just try to make some progress.

I exited the building, and started walking towards the other building. Analyzing the area, there didn't seem to be much zombies. . outside. I pressed for the elevator, as it opened, something splattered at my face, and I backed up, trying to wipe it off. My eyes were blurry, and I couldn't quite make out what I was seeing. . just a petite figure.
