I exited the building, and started walking towards the other building. Analyzing the area, there didn't seem to be much zombies. . outside. I pressed for the elevator, as it opened, something splattered at my face, and I backed up, trying to wipe it off. My eyes were blurry, and I couldn't quite make out what I was seeing. . just a petite figure.
By the time I got what seemed to be. . . gasoline off my face— wait, gasoline? Is someone trying to light me on fire or what?
Well, by the time I could see again, the person or thing was already gone.
I couldn't do anything but continue my search. Seriously. It would be a lot easier if there were address signs.
Those bloody monsters covered it with their DNA, though. I have to make this quick. I want to get back to Perry before 11AM.
As I entered the lift, I pressed the button for floor 38.
Once I got up, it was time to be on alert. I started with room 1, to room 4, nothing.
Just old cameras, TVs, even DVDs and CDs. Searching through room 5, was probably just gonna be as boring. This couldn't get any worse..
I tried to open room 5, but the door was jammed... Or maybe locked? No, that couldn't be the case, right? I guess it's better not to attract attention and just move on.
But I couldn't shake off the feeling that something wasn't right. I swear I heard something from inside. But I'd much rather not waste my time.
I moved to room 6, and there was nothing abnormal. Same with 7, 8, 9 and 10.
All I found within the 9 rooms I searched were just. . . Expired toothpaste and sparkling water.
I exit room 10, making my way over to the elevator. Damn. It's already 12PM. So much for making it back before 11AM.
As I started out towards the elevator, I saw. . a person?! Wait. I can't just go up to them. What if they're dangerous? Or maybe. . hope? I decided to exit the building, and helped them. They were fighting alone against a few dozen zombies. They had a. . . A— Am I seeing this right? A broom? After finally defeating the bunch of zombies, I took a good look at him.
He had light blue hair, yellow eyes, tan skin and he was a little taller than me. He turned to me, breathing heavily after punching the hell out of the last zombie.
"Thanks. . for the help there. I appreciate it!" He thanked me, in a cheerful tone. He seemed the happy type, from what I could tell. It reminded me of Ruby. This is hopeless. I really do miss her.
"It's nothing." I replied, stepping back. He stayed silent for a minute, before speaking again.
"Are you from around here?" He asked, with a smile, it didn't seem like he had any intention of leaving.
"I'm here to rest out with a—. . ." I paused. Should I just say friend? It would be weird if I just said something like 'im here with an annoying girl'.
"—a friend. What about you?" I asked, returning the question. He seemed like a good intentioned guy, no ill-intentioned aura really came off him.
"Ah. I'm actually just going around this place. I'm alone." He claimed, and he smiled more.
"What's your name?" I asked, before adding, "I'm Christian."
"Oh, Christian, it's nice to meet you. I'm Maverick."
"Maverick. I see. Would you. . perhaps like to come with me? I'm going back to my friend."
I felt slightly bad for him. All alone in this kind of situation? There was really no thinking needed there. .
I mean I have some kind of heart. And besides I need to make this quick and get back with Perry.
"Really? You'd offer that much?" His eyes beamed, smiling widely. "Well. . . Since your offering, sure. I'll come -with you."
Perry's pov:
I sat on the couch, for like what. . . 1 hour and 30 minutes now? What is that dumbass doing? Helping some other idiot?
I mean. . I'm not worried. But— no I guess I am. I can't be left alone. Does he not take me seriously?
There's really nothing I can do as of now, but just wait for him to come home.. like an expecting wife for his husband to come ho- wait WHAT kind of analogy was that. Hold up.. no nevermind. Maybe more like an injured friend who can't walk waiting for her idiotic friend.
. . .Sigh.
Maybe I could try walking. . ? I mean Christian might be mad if he found me on the floor though... After all that care he showed would go to waste. Though on another subject, I'm hungry. I'm just sitting here. Expectingly waiting for Christian to come.
I don't know anymore, it's been like 10 minutes? Christian finally came. But, there seemed to be someone behind him?
He glared at me like I wasn't going to be nice. He had blue hair. .? What an odd colour. He looked at me, and back at Christian. He finally spoke.
"Is this your 'friend', Christian?"
He spoke. 'Friend'? That alone is enough to clarify that Christian wasn't being honest. But to my surprise, that man nodded. Internally, my mouth was hanging open.
But outside I almost choked on my own saliva. I glared at Christian.
"Hi. I'm Maverick. I met Christian while just now, while fighting zombies." Huh. He didn't seem bad. at all. He looked pretty enchanting. Happy, cheerful and extroverted. But also the dumb, silly type.
The type we kind of didn't need right now.
"Oh. Hi. My name is Perry. Pleasure to meet you.." he smiled at me, and his smile was probably enough to brighten a pitch black room. It kind of reminded me of Ruby, more than I'd like to admit. I glanced at Christian for a moment, he seemed pretty tired.
And since this blueberry hair dude is here, I guess I'll consider being nice to Christian.
"Dude, why don't you get some sleep?"
I suggested, and he nodded. He didn't say a word, and left the living room, going to the bedroom.
It fell silent, and blueberry hair sat down next to me on the couch, seemingly wanting to start a conversation. . but I'm not really the talkative type. At least not when I just met this guy.
To my surprise, blueberry hair took his phone out. . and started playing some shooting game. I could hear the shooting sounds. I just stayed silent, leaning my head against the couch, leaning and sinking into its comfortable-ness.
Slowly, I started to close my eyes, drifting off to sleep. A bunch of thoughts went through my head.
But one really I needed an answer to. 'Can I trust this guy next to me, enough to sleep in a vulnerable state next to him?' I mean, he seemed all sunshines and cupcakes so I guess I can trust him. I mean, he managed to gain Christians trust enough to bring him here, so I guess I'll trust him for once.
