Chapter 1 - Quirk Awakening - Chapter 1

"Go have fun now sweetie." My mother said, gently pushing me towards the playground. Sighing, I reluctantly made my way over to the small horde of snot-nosed children running around.

I didn't want to interact with "other" kids. I was an adult, at least mentally, and had no desire to deal with children. But unfortunately, my parents were already very concerned about me, since I appeared to be a very odd child. Being reborn with your previous life's memories would make anyone seem weird.

I didn't want to cause them any more undue stress due to my unique disposition, so I decided that I would try my best to "play" with the other kids on the playground.

"Hey hey! Have you gotten your quirk yet?" A kid asked me, sticking out his hand and showing me a twig that began spinning on it quite quickly. "I got mine a few days ago. Look! I can make stuff spin!"

"That's really cool!" I replied, not having to act too much to inject my voice with the proper amount of excitement. Having found myself in the world of My Hero Academia, I still find quirks fascinating despite having been here for 4 years now, even ones which most people would pass off as useless. "No, I haven't got mine yet. But my parents say it should be soon."

"Oh, that sucks." The kid said, a small frown crossing his face before suddenly cheering up again. "I'm totally gonna become a hero when I grow up. I've already got an epic hero name and everything. Topsy! The Spinning Hero!" He shouted, shoving his hand up in the sky to showcase his spinning quirk to the world.

Other kids looked on in awe, like the child's spinning quirk was the strongest thing ever.

Looking quite smug after his declaration, the spinny kid invited me to join his other friends for a game of freeze tag, to which I joined, glad they weren't going to be little shit's due to me not having my quirk yet.

Freeze tag was actually pretty fun. I had plenty of memories of my first life of running around my elementary school's playground playing different variations of tag, and was actually kind of glad I could make more memories in this one. Sure it was childish, but getting chased around, dodging arms, and saving other players was exhilarating, not to mention all the exercise was probably good for me.

It was still annoying having to deal with children and being treated like a child myself, but there wasn't really anything I could do about it, so I might as well just accept it. It was going to be many years before I got the respect I craved.

A couple of games into freeze tag, I unfortunately got caught trying to save another player, and so stood frozen at the bottom of a slide.

Letting the adrenaline of the game subside for a moment, I noticed something peculiar. A sort of static sensation, coming from the kid in front of me whom I was going to unfreeze before I got caught.

Focusing on that sensation, I noticed I could sort of "see" an outline of the kid's body, with a concentration of static coming from his brain.

'Is this my quirk?' I immediately thought, before reaching out and trying to affect the static.

Almost instantly, the kid reached up to grab his head, rubbing at it and looking like he was in pain.

"Owww." The kid exclaimed, before I stopped, leaving him to sigh in relief.

'That's definitely my quirk.' I concluded and decided I needed to do some more testing before I announced anything to anyone.

Weeks went by, and I got very familiar with my quirk, its abilities, and limitations.

It seemed I could sense and distort electrical fields within a 100-meter radius. This meant I was keenly aware of everyone within that radius, as I could feel outlines of their bodies in relation to my own. With a bit of focus, I could induce headaches which seemed to cause anxiety, confusion, pain, etc. I could affect multiple people, though the severity of the symptoms diminished when my focus was spread out amongst multiple targets.

I could not only sense and affect the electrical fields within people, but also technology. I could fry cameras with a lot of focus, short out lights, and cause all manner of electrical devices to malfunction.

All in all, a very good quirk in my opinion. Sure, it wasn't some super strong and flashy quirk like All Might or Endeavor, but it was still very useful, and easily pro hero level.

However, I wasn't going to let anyone know my full abilities. So when I let my parents know I got my quirk and they took me to get it registered, I left some things out.

I didn't mention any kind of sensory aspect of my quirk, nor any range limitation. I simply stated that I could mess with the electrical fields of things I stared at and concentrated on, which on paper wasn't all that good of a quirk.

But that was the point. Being underestimated was great.

Years went by, and I had shown all the signs of a budding genius. I aced every class and studied technology on the side. Since I had started so early, I was able to jam so much information into my very impressionable child's brain that I actually may as well be a genius on some topics. Mainly coding.

Slowly I formed a plan. If I did nothing, the My Hero plot would play out as it should. Or I could interfere, and start affecting things.

The decision was easy. I was going to meddle. I wasn't aiming to join Class 1-A myself, but I did want to join the fight against All For One in some way.

And when I caught sight of a girl with pink dreads and yellow eyes in a hardware store one day, I knew just what I was going to do.
