Chapter 15 - AURA

Now standing together, Lucas and Rosalie held each other's hand as if letting go wasn't an option. Their fingers were laced tightly, silently speaking of a bond neither of them wanted to break.

Meanwhile, Alice and Lisa were playfully teasing Rosalie, while Emmett leaned against the wall with a mischievous grin, his attention flicking to Lucas. Jasper, calm but curious, was already deep in conversation with him.

"Bro, we've got to fight someday," Emmett said, clapping a heavy hand on Lucas's shoulder.

Lucas smirked, meeting his eyes without hesitation. "Sure. Just be ready to lose."

That earned a loud laugh from Emmett, the sound echoing through the hall.

"Well," Jasper added with an amused smile, "in your very first meeting, you've already made Rosalie feel more emotions than she usually ever shows."

Rosalie rolled her eyes, which only made the others laugh even harder. A faint non-existing blush touched her cheeks, betraying the truth in Jasper's words.

The moment was interrupted when the ward door opened. Carlisle stepped out first, his expression carrying that warm, fatherly calm, followed by Edward whose face remained carefully neutral—though his sharp eyes lingered on Lucas with quiet curiosity.

Carlisle's gaze softened as it landed on Lucas. He looked, for a brief moment, at the slayer mark at his forehead, then extended his hand."You must be Lucas Brightsun. I'm Carlisle Cullen."

Lucas smiled warmly, extending his own hand for a firm handshake. "Hello, sir. It's an honor to meet you."

Carlisle nodded at his politeness, clearly pleased. "Well, Lucas, you have a very fascinating ability. And… forgive me for eavesdropping on you two earlier," he added with a gentle, apologetic smile.

Lucas shook his head lightly. "No problem, sir. You're Rosalie's family—you're only concerned for her. That's what matters." His grin turned a little playful. "As for my ability, well… it's interesting, sure. Who knows? Maybe it'll make me the world's best doctor someday."

Rosalie groaned softly, rolling her eyes again. "Here we go… "she thought, though her lips curved in the faintest smile.

Carlisle chuckled at Lucas's humor. "Well, in that case, I might just have to make you my assistant."

Lucas returned a cheeky grin. "Deal. But only if you let me steal some of your patients."

The two shared a laugh, and Carlisle's expression softened. "Lucas, you truly are a remarkable young man. And… thank you for not fearing or rejecting the mate bond, even though some might see it as a form of manipulation." His voice carried a quiet sincerity, gratitude shining in his golden eyes.

Lucas smiled, his voice steady. "Thank you for the kind words, sir. But to me? The mate bond is like… Z+ security. It means she'll never leave me, and honestly? Watching Emmett with Lisa and Jasper with Alice, I don't see anything wrong with it. If it brings happiness, why question it?." Listening to him they smile while Rosalie was giving a huge smile to him.

Carlisle didn't have an immediate answer listening to his word. Instead, he gave Lucas a thoughtful, grateful smile. Then his voice lowered, almost confessional. "One last thing I should tell you as there father figure… we don't drink human blood. Please, don't misunderstand us."Same as his tone, when he tell Rosalie not to overthinking about his ability in a perverted way.

Lucas's reply came without hesitation. "I already know that. Through the Transparent World, I can see it—there's no bloody aura around you. Jasper has some, yes, but it's faint… fading. Everyone has their story."

His gaze shifted as he described them one by one:"Your aura is steady and calm, like flowing water. Edward's is jagged and restless, always shifting. Emmett's… raw energy, but warm—like a blazing fire. Lisa carries a big-sister aura, gentle and protective, like family. Jasper's aura is a storm cloud laced with sparks—powerful, dangerous, but also fragile. And Rosalie…" His voice softened, his eyes lingering on her. "Hers is sharp and radiant, like golden glass—beautiful, but dangerous to those who mishandle it."

A quiet hush followed his words. Carlisle exhaled slowly, unable to find the right response. Instead, he chose leave to the next ward, while inviting Lucas to visit their home whenever he felt ready. His eyes, however locked on Edward before going, spoke a silent message: We'll talk about Bella matter at home.

Beside him, Jasper lowered his head slightly, a shadow passing over his features at Lucas's mention of bloody aura. His guilt was obvious, heavy. Alice noticed instantly and wrapped her arms around him, whispering comfort.

Lucas caught it too. He grinned softly and gave Jasper a thumbs up. "Don't be sad, buddy. I'm not gonna judge you for your past. Let bygones be bygones."

Jasper's lips curved into a rare, genuine smile listening to his words. "Thanks, brother."

The air lightened again, warmth settling between them.

Just then, Charles Swan stepped out of the ward with Tyler Crowley in tow. Relief softened his features as he shook Edward's hand firmly, thanking him for saving Bella. Almost immediately, though, he turned on Tyler, launching into a stern lecture—just like in the movie.

Seeing it as their cue, Lucas and the others quietly slipped into the ward, giving police and criminal a privacy for their conversation.
