Chapter 14 - SLAYER MARK

The hallway seemed to freeze after Rosalie's confession, her voice shattering the fragile quiet.

"I… I'm a vampire."

The words hung in the sterile air, sharp and heavy.

Lucas's smile didn't falter. Instead, he stepped a little closer, his tone steady, almost reassuring."And I already told you… it doesn't matter."

"Rosalie…" Lucas added softly, making her lift her eyes toward him. "My sight doesn't work in some twisted, perverted way, so don't go assuming that." He gave her a small, playful nod while changing the subject so that she didn't stress herself.

Rosalie blinked, caught off guard. Warmth swelled in her chest—he trusted her, he accepted her, and it didn't matter to him that she was a vampire and she can feels that —every word he says is true. It made her want to cry and throw her arms around him. But then his last comment sank in, and she nearly rolled her eyes. "Can't he stay serious for once?" she thought, torn between laughing and choking him.

"But… humans don't have that kind of ability," she pressed, her golden gaze narrowing with curiosity.

"Well," Lucas tilted his head, "you're both right and wrong. Humans usually don't… but I'm not exactly normal." His voice dropped lower, serious now. "Let me put it this way: when a vampire wants to turn a human, what do they use? How do they change them?"

Rosalie frowned at the strange phrasing but answered carefully."Venom. A vampire has to inject venom into a human's system to turn them." She left out the agony, unwilling to put it into words.

"yes, venom." Lucas nodded. "Venom acts like a catalyst—it rewrites a human from the inside out, giving them strength and abilities beyond human limits. But in my case…" He raised his hand, pointing to his forehead where a flame like slayer mark was present. "My catalyst is this mark and I was born with it."

His voice carried a quiet pride.

"It's given me enhanced physical strength—not equal to a vampire's, but far above any ordinary human. And something else… a 'transparent world,' you could call it. Like x-ray vision through which I can see muscle movements, blood flow, the rhythm of the body itself."

Rosalie's eyes widened. Around them, the Cullens exchanged stunned glances. Even Edward's face faltered with raw shock, while Carlisle's lips curved into a fascinated smile while listening to his ability.

For a long moment, Rosalie couldn't speak. When she finally found her voice, it trembled.

"So… you don't fear me. You trust me enough to share your power with me. But what if I told you that in our world, vampires have something called a mate bond? That bond… it pulls us together. A vampire can never truly love outside of it. And I… I have that bond with you." Her last words cracked, fear gripping her heart as her eyes searched his .

Lucas's smiles while his hand slid into hers, his thumb brushing gently across her skin. His smile was calm, disarming."Then it's not something to fear, Rosalie. It's like a promise to me that you'll never leave me alone and never stopped loving me."

Her lips parted in shock listening to his words, her whole body trembling. And before she could stop herself, Rosalie surged forward and wrapped her arms around him, burying her face in his chest.

Lucas stiffened in surprise, then slowly, carefully, returned the embrace.

From the side, Jasper's expression softened, a faint grin tugging at his lips."Every word he says… there's not a single trace of fear in him. Only truth."

"Strange guy," Emmett chuckled, shaking his head. "But damn, I like him. He can be trusted."

Alice practically bounced on her toes, her eyes sparkling. "Finally! I have a friend!" she chirped, her smile bright as sunshine.

Lisa's voice was gentle but certain. "He really is different… but I'm glad. Rosalie deserves this."

When Rosalie finally pulled back, both she and Lucas face were flushed, smiling shyly at each other like they'd shared something sacred, something only they could understand.
