Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

In the bustling Sidekick Diner, Sivf sits in a booth, a steaming plate of pancakes in front of him. He's in his civilian clothes, a simple t-shirt and jeans, his superhero uniform stowed in his backpack, brown in a wolf cut, green eyes, sharp jawline. The diner is a symphony of clattering dishes and chatter, the air thick with the scent of syrup and coffee. The diner is a symphony of clattering dishes and chatter, the air thick with the scent of syrup and coffee. Sivf stabs his fork into a stack of pancakes, his eyes scanning the diner. He notices a group of teenagers huddled in a booth, eyes wide with excitement as they whisper to each other. One of them, a lanky boy with a mop of curly hair, suddenly stands up, his hands glowing with a soft blue light. "Guys, watch this!" he exclaims, his voice barely audible over the diner's chatter. The lanky boy's hands flicker with energy, and he grins, trying to control the blue light. A nearby salt shaker levitates slightly, wobbles, and crashes to the table, scattering salt everywhere. The boy's friends gasp, and a few patrons glance over, curious. Sivf watches, his fork paused mid-air.

The boy's face flushes with embarrassment, and he looks around nervously. "Sorry, I didn't mean to—" The lanky boy's hands flicker with energy, and he grins, trying to control the blue light. The boy's face flushes with embarrassment, and he looks around nervously. "Sorry, I didn't mean to—" The diner's chatter begins to quiet as more patrons notice the commotion. The boy's friends exchange worried glances, unsure of what to do. The boy's hands are still glowing, the blue light pulsing erratically.

A waitress, a middle-aged woman with a name tag reading "Linda," approaches the table, her eyes flicking to the boy's hands. "Everything alright here, kids?" she asks, her voice calm and steady. A waitress, a middle-aged woman with a name tag reading "Linda," approaches the table, her eyes flicking to the boy's hands. "Everything alright here, kids?" she asks, her voice calm and steady. The boy swallows hard, his hands trembling slightly, causing the blue light to flicker more wildly. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make a mess. I'm just trying to control it." He looks to his friends, who nod encouragingly. One of them, a girl with bright red hair, speaks up, "He's new to this. He just manifested yesterday."

Linda nods understandingly, "Well, let's not cause any more commotion." The boy swallows hard, his hands trembling slightly, causing the blue light to flicker more wildly. Linda nods understandingly, "Well, let's not cause any more commotion." Linda turns to the nearby patrons, "Show's over, folks. Nothing to see here but a bunch of kids trying to enjoy their breakfast." She turns back to the boy, "it's okay, sweetheart, just a bit of salt" she chuckles. "Now let's get that under control, just breathe, and let it flow... There see all better". Linda turns to the nearby patrons, "Show's over, folks. "Is he going to be okay?" she asks, her voice barely audible over the diner's hum. Sivf nods reassuringly, "Linda knows what she's doing. She's seen this kind of thing before. The kitchen's reinforced to handle power mishaps." He glances at the other teenagers, "You all new to this?"

The teenagers nod, looking at each other, then back at Sivf. "Yeah, we all manifested recently," the girl says, her voice gaining a bit of confidence. "We're trying to figure it all out." A boy with a buzz cut chimes in, "We didn't know where else to go. We just wanted to practice somewhere safe." Sivf nods, understanding. "Well, you're in the right place."The teenagers nod, looking at each other, then back at Sivf. "Yeah, we all manifested recently," the girl says, her voice gaining a bit of confidence. "Well, you're in the right place." Sivf gestures to the empty seats at his booth. "Why don't you all sit down? Let's talk about what you've been experiencing."

The teenagers exchange glances, then slide into the booth, their eyes still wide with a mix of excitement and nervousness. The girl with bright red hair speaks up first, "I can move things with my mind. It's like... telekinesis, I think." Sivf gestures to the empty seats at his booth. "Why don't you all sit down? The teenagers exchange glances, then slide into the booth, their eyes still wide with a mix of excitement and nervousness. The girl with bright red hair speaks up first, "I can move things with my mind. It's like... telekinesis, I think." The boy with the buzz cut leans in, "I can generate force fields. I didn't even know what it was at first, but I put my hand through a window and didn't get cut. I was freaking out, but then I realized I could stop things from hitting me." He demonstrates by creating a small, shimmering barrier above his hand, which he then taps with his fork. The fork bounces off harmlessly. "Thanks. It's pretty handy, literally." He chuckles at his own joke. The other teenagers laugh nervously, the tension in the air easing slightly. Sivf smiles, "That's a great start, all of you. It's important to learn control, but also to be safe."

The boy with the buzz cut nods, "I've been trying to practice, but it's hard to find a place where I won't accidentally hurt someone or break something." He looks at Sivf, his eyes hopeful. "Do you have any tips?"

Sivf leans back in his booth, considering the question. "Practice is key, but you're right, it can be dangerous if you're not careful. First, find a safe space."The boy with the buzz cut nods, "I've been trying to practice, but it's hard to find a place where I won't accidentally hurt someone or break something." Sivf looks around the diner, his gaze landing on the kitchen door where Linda and the lanky boy had disappeared. "Linda's kitchen is reinforced, but it's not the best place to practice. You need somewhere open, where you can control the environment." He turns his attention back to the teenagers. "There's a place called Powerhouse Gym. It's designed for people like you, with reinforced walls and safety protocols. It's where most heroes train." "I've heard of that place!" she exclaims. "Isn't it where all the famous heroes train?" The other teenagers nod, their eyes wide with excitement. The boy with the buzz cut leans in, his voice eager, "Do you think they'd let us in? We're not exactly... you know, heroes yet."

Sivf chuckles, "Powerhouse Gym welcomes anyone with powers, whether you're a seasoned hero or just starting out. They have programs for beginners, and it's a great place to learn and meet others like yourselves." He takes a sip of his coffee, his eyes scanning the diner as he speaks. "But remember, it's not just about the physical training. You need to understand your powers, their limits, and how to control them."Sivf chuckles, "Powerhouse Gym welcomes anyone with powers, whether you're a seasoned hero or just starting out. The girl with bright red hair nods, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "So, how do we do that? Understand our powers, I mean." She looks at Sivf, her expression earnest.

Sivf sets his coffee mug down, giving the girl his full attention. "It's different for everyone. For some, it's about trial and error. For others, it might take some guidance from someone who's been through it." The girl with bright red hair nods, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "So, how do we do that? Sivf's gaze shifts to the door as it swings open, and in walks a tall, muscular man with a familiar scar running down his cheek. It's Razor, a reformed villain known for his razor-sharp energy blades. He's in civilian clothes, a simple white tank top and jeans, but the scar is a dead giveaway. The diner's chatter quiets slightly as patrons notice him, some whispering to each other, others staring openly. He pauses, then makes his way over to their booth. "Mind if I join you?" he asks, his voice a low rumble. Sivf gestures to the empty seat, "Have a seat, Razor. These kids are new to their powers. They could use some guidance."

Razor raises an eyebrow, looking at the teenagers. "Is that so?" Razor scans the diner, his eyes landing on Sivf and the group of teenagers. He pauses, then makes his way over to their booth. Razor raises an eyebrow, looking at the teenagers. "Is that so?" Razor slides into the booth, his eyes flicking from one teenager to the next. "Well, isn't this a motley crew? What do we have here?" he asks, his voice gruff but not unkind. The girl with bright red hair speaks up, "I'm Emma. I can move things with my mind." She demonstrates by making a fork levitate slightly above the table. Razor watches, impressed. "Telekinesis, huh? Not bad." What about you two?" he asks, looking at the remaining teenagers. The lanky boy with curly hair, who had been practicing earlier, speaks up, "I'm Matt. I can, uh, manipulate energy."

Razor leans back in the booth, his eyes narrowing as he looks at Matt. "Energy manipulation, huh? That's a powerful one. You'll need to be careful with that. You can do a lot of damage if you're not careful." Matt nods, his hands still glowing slightly with the residual energy. "I know. I'm still trying to control it." Razor grunts, "Well, you're in the right place."Razor leans back in the booth, his eyes narrowing as he looks at Matt. "Energy manipulation, huh? That's a powerful one. Razor grunts, "Well, you're in the right place." Razor turns his attention to the last teenager, a quiet girl with dark hair and eyes that seem to hold a constant spark of curiosity. She shifts uncomfortably under his gaze. "And you?" he prompts, his voice a bit softer than before. The girl takes a deep breath, "I'm Lily. I can... I can see things. Things that haven't happened yet." She looks down at her hands, fidgeting with a napkin.

Razor's eyes widen slightly at Lily's words, but he doesn't press her further. Instead, he turns to Sivf, "So, what's the plan? You gonna take these kids under your wing?" Sivf shakes his head, "Not my style. But I can point them in the right direction. Powerhouse Gym is a good start".Razor's eyes widen slightly at Lily's words, but he doesn't press her further. She gestures vaguely, "Like, what do we do when we're not training? How do we... fit in?" She looks around the diner, watching as patrons go about their business, some glancing at their table with a mix of curiosity and wariness. Razor leans back in the booth, his gaze sweeping over the diner before settling back on Emma. "Fitting in, huh? That's a tough one." He scratches at his scar absently, his voice a low rumble. "You kids are in a unique position. You've got powers, but you're not heroes yet. Not everyone's gonna be happy about that."

The boy with the buzz cut, Jake, frowns, "What do you mean?" Razor leans back in the booth, his gaze sweeping over the diner before settling back on Emma. "Fitting in, huh? That's a tough one." The boy with the buzz cut, Jake, frowns, "What do you mean?" Razor leans forward, his elbows resting on the table, "People are gonna look at you differently. Some will be scared, some will be jealous, and some will want to use you. You gotta be careful who you trust." He looks at each of them in turn, his expression serious. "But there are people who can help. Mentors, trainers, even other kids like you. You just gotta find them." Razor leans forward, his elbows resting on the table, "People are gonna look at you differently. Some will be scared, some will be jealous, and some will want to use you. You just gotta find them." The teenagers exchange glances, taking in Razor's words. The lanky boy, Matt, speaks up, his voice tentative, "So, what do we do in the meantime? Just hide out until we figure it all out?" Razor shakes his head, "Nah, that's not the answer. You gotta live your lives. Go to school, hang out with friends, just... be careful." He looks at Sivf, who nods in agreement.

Sivf takes a sip of his coffee, then sets the mug down with a soft clink. "Razor's right. You can't hide from this. But you also can't rush into it. Take it slow, learn as much as you can, and always be aware of your surroundings." He looks at each of the teenagers, his expression serious. "And remember, just because you have powers doesn't mean you're invincible." The teenagers nod, taking in Sivf's words, their expressions a mix of determination and apprehension. The diner's chatter continues around them, the clatter of dishes and the hum of conversation a steady backdrop to their conversation. The girl with bright red hair, Emma, looks at Sivf, her eyes thoughtful. "So, what do we do now?" she asks, her voice steady despite the nervous energy that seems to radiate from her.

Sivf leans back in the booth, his eyes scanning the diner before settling back on the teenagers. "Now, you finish your breakfast. Then, I suggest you head to Powerhouse Gym. Ask for Coach Martinez. She'll set you up with a training program tailored to your abilities." He pauses, looking at each of them. "And remember, safety first. Don't try anything too risky until you've had some proper training." The teenagers nod, taking in Sivf's advice. The boy with the buzz cut, Jake, looks around the table, his expression determined. "Alright, let's do this. Who's ready to hit the gym?" The other teenagers murmur their agreement, a sense of excitement and nervousness filling the air. The lanky boy, Matt, looks down at his hands, the blue energy still flickering softly. "I think I need to cool down first."The girl with bright red hair, Emma, reaches out and gently places her hand on Matt's, her touch calming. "You'll get the hang of it, Matt. We all will." She looks around the table, her expression resolute. "We're in this together, right?" The other teenagers nod in agreement, a sense of camaraderie forming among them. The quiet girl, Lily, speaks up, her voice soft but steady, "Together. That sounds good." As the teenagers finish their breakfast, the diner's door swings open, and in walks a familiar figure, DJ Soundwave. His signature neon green jacket and headphones are hard to miss, even in the bustling diner. He scans the room, his eyes landing on Sivf and the group of teenagers. A wide grin spreads across his face as he makes his way over to their booth. "Well, well, well, look what we have here!"
