KIERA'S POV
Under the silvery brightness of the full moon, the ink black wolf slipped through the shadows of shady trees, a slick snake shrouded by the darkness.
Though slender and moving with swift grace, the wolf was larger than the natural kind. Intelligence sparked within the glowing irises of its hazel eyes.
If this wolf was large, then the one leading it could only be tagged humongous. Darker than a night sky, the first wolf prowled the earth with a majesty that belied its size.
Deeper into the woods they went, streaking around the shadows until they reached the low rocky hill that marked the boundary between Frostone and Dark Creek.
The slender wolf's skin rippled and warped as it morphed from animal to human, the two spirits switching places physically but never breaking their bounds.
Transformation complete, Kiera brushed dead grass and leaves from her pants.
"So much for the bloody spectacle I expected."
