The man who was dancing backwards was back and was walking towards Kon with the same weird style.
'Why is that guy back?' Kon thought, tilting his head. The man's steps were smooth, almost like he was gliding on air.
Goku chirped excitedly, dropping his rocks and rushing toward the man, mimicking his backward slide. The last time he tried it from far but now he tried it while standing next to the man.
The man, wearing odd heart-shaped glasses, stopped and looked at Goku, surprised. "Oh, you're trying to moonwalk? You're doing it wrong. It needs more grace."
He slid backward again, his feet moving in a fluid rhythm. "Like this." Goku watched, then copied, his four arms swaying as he slid across the sand, surprisingly smooth for a monkey.
The man clapped. "Good! Let me show you more moves. Let's dance… baby!"
He spun, kicked, and twirled, his coat moving with him. Goku followed and was surprisingly keeping up. Kon clapped, bouncing on his toes. "Wow, you're a really good dancer, mister! Do you live in town?"
'He's gotta teach me and Goku that spin,' Kon thought, already picturing himself dancing on their future ship.
The man tipped his hat, smirking. "I used to be a traveling dancer, now I'm a hypnotist pirate. You can call me Dancing Jango."
'This kid and his monkey are something else. It's a pity that I have orders to eliminate them.' he thought.
Kon tilted his head, curious. "Hypnotist? What's that?"
'Sounds like a magic trick,' he thought, leaning closer.
Jango grinned, pulling a round ring on a string from his pocket. "Let me show you."
He held it up, letting it swing. "Watch the ring as it moves. At the count of three, you'll start fighting each other." Kon and Goku stared, interested, their eyes following the ring's spin.
'What's this gonna do? There is no way that this ring would make Goku and me fight against each other. If he had a banana pie, maybe then we could fight.' Kon thought, his curiosity piqued.
"One, two… three… Jango!" Jango snapped his fingers. Kon blinked, feeling nothing, but Goku's eyes went blank.
Before Kon could react, Goku's four fists slammed into his stomach, knocking the wind out of him.
"Ouch!" Kon shouted, clutching his gut. "What was that for, Goku?"
'What's wrong with him?' he thought, confused.
Goku, expressionless, pulled all four pistols from his holsters, aiming at Kon. Jango raised an eyebrow. "Oh, you resisted the hypnosis? Interesting. But this little guy seems enough to handle you."
'This is a first time something like this happened. Someone can only resist my hyponisis if they know how I do it or say in their mind I am not going to get hypnotized.'
Jango thought, impressed but wary.
Goku fired, bullets flying. Kon's Chi surged, and a wall of air formed in front of him, stopping the bullets mid-air.
They clattered to the sand, and Kon frowned, unsettled by Goku's blank stare. "It's not funny anymore, Goku."
'He's not himself,' he thought, his heart sinking. Goku kept firing, his face empty, and Kon dodged, using bursts of air to stay out of reach.
Kon turned to Jango, his voice sharp. "Hey, make him stop!" 'This guy's messing with my best friend,' he thought, his fists clenching and his anger rising.
Jango ignored him, watching Goku with a smirk. 'This monkey's a natural fighter,' he thought, enjoying the chaos.
Goku ran out of bullets and leaped at Kon, swinging his fists. Kon ducked, his heart heavy. "Snap out of it, Goku. You know I don't like hitting you."
'I can't hurt him too bad,' he thought, dodging another punch. 'But I gotta stop this.'
With no other choice, Kon gritted his teeth. 'Sorry, buddy,' he thought, throwing a quick punch to Goku's face.
The hit landed, and blood trickled from Goku's mouth. His eyes cleared, the hypnosis breaking. He blinked, looking confused, then sad, seeing Kon's guilty expression.
'I hurt him,' Kon thought, his chest tight. Goku chirped softly, patting Kon's arm, signaling it wasn't his fault.
Kon's eyes narrowed at Jango. "You're right, it's this guy's fault."
'Nobody messes with Goku,' he thought, his Chi flaring. But Goku again stopped him. He made some gestures.
"You think that this guy did not do it out of his own will? How would you even know that?" Kon asked surprised as Goku again made some gestures.
"You can feel his sadness?" Kon asked and Goku nodded.
'Did Goku awaken Observation Haki before me?' Kon thought. He felt both envious and happy for his friend.
Goku again made some gestures.
"You want him to join our crew as a dancer? You loved dancing with him?" Goku nodded excitedly
"Fine...but someone has to pay for making me hurt you. And first we have to check if he is really innocent." Kon said as he glared at Jango.
"Why'd you do it?"
Jango paused, his smirk fading as he looked at Goku. 'That monkey… he's got the passion of a true dancer,' he thought, moved by Goku's quick forgiveness and his earlier dance moves.
'Reminds me of when I danced for fun, not for Kuro's orders.' He sighed, his shoulders slumping. "It's because of Kuro who has been living as Kahladore as a buttler of Lady Kaya. He's been planning to kill Kaya for three years, to take her fortune. He ordered me to kill Usopp and you rookies. I had no choice—he'd kill me if I didn't obey."
'I'm just a pawn in his game,' he thought, his heart heavy with guilt. 'Dancing used to be my life, not this.'
Kon's eyes softened slightly. "So he ordered you? He'd have killed you if you didn't follow?"
'Sounds like a real jerk,' he thought, his anger shifting to this Kuro.
Jango nodded, his voice low. "Yeah. I'm just trying to survive."
Kon crossed his arms. "That means it's less your fault and more his. You were just scared."
His voice rose, his eyes blazing. "Who's this Kuro to order our deaths? Who's he to order my friends killed? Who's he to make me hit Goku? He'll pay…" he thought. His eyes glowed white.
"HE WILL PAY!"
