Facing off against Akainu's ability directly, without evasion or hesitation, and relying solely on his god-level combat awareness, Good showed no tactical thinking whatsoever — his style appeared completely unstructured.
He looked like a total brute who only knew how to charge in madly.
The entire meeting room had been reduced to rubble, with magma flowing everywhere and thick black smoke swirling around.
Good charged in wildly — direct, rough, and violent — demonstrating to everyone what true brute force aesthetic meant.
Akainu continuously used his magma-based powers, with bursts of explosions and surging heat.
Dai Funka (Great Eruption), Inugami Guren (Dog God Scarlet Lotus) — attacks kept crashing into Good.
Faced with Good's refusal to dodge or flinch, Akainu was starting to feel a bit shaken.
This bastard… Akainu grit his teeth.
In all his years in the Marines, he'd never encountered anyone who fought so recklessly and head-on like Good.
What was more shocking was that despite the crude approach, with every clash, Good's strength was visibly increasing.
On top of that, some of his "wild swings" came at such odd angles that even a seasoned veteran like Akainu found them hard to predict.
That contrast stunned Akainu. Could it be… that this guy who seemed brain-dead was actually a combat genius?
As they kept fighting, Akainu was slowly being pushed back, finding it harder and harder to keep up.
He realized that Good was starting to adapt to his rhythm and gaining the upper hand.
From the side, Aokiji and Kizaru exchanged glances, their gazes toward Good subtly shifting.
As fellow Admirals, even if they hadn't fought him directly, they could clearly see what was going on.
Then Akainu unleashed Inugami Guren Ran (Dog God Scarlet Lotus Chaos). Unlike Inugami Guren, which focused on speed and direct impact, this move emphasized wide-area destruction.
The magma transformed into massive hellhounds, howling and spewing molten saliva as they lunged toward Good.
"Let's see you dodge this!" Akainu roared.
This was one of his most devastating attacks, second only to Meigo (Dark Hound). Even against someone like Kaidō, the so-called strongest creature, he believed they'd be forced to back off.
Yet seeing the magma hounds, Good looked even more excited.
His eyes sparkled with madness as he exploded off the ground and hurled himself directly at the incoming attack.
Akainu's eyes widened in disbelief.
The others watched in stunned silence, hearts pounding with adrenaline.
Though Good's fighting style was wild and crude, it fully embodied the beauty of pure violence.
And despite looking reckless, every now and then his attacks left everyone in awe.
The battle raged for minutes — then suddenly, as Good seemed ready to leap into the air for another frontal assault, Akainu prepared for it.
Magma burst from his fists as he launched a Dai Funka (Great Eruption) upward.
A massive lava fist shot out — and missed.
Akainu's pupils shrank. He'd been faked out.
Instead of jumping, Good had faked the motion, stayed low, and dashed straight for Akainu's stomach.
A brutal punch landed squarely, sending Akainu flying backward.
Good's strength was clearly increasing, and his Busoshoku Haki (Armament Haki) had become even more fierce. Akainu coughed up stomach fluids and blood, stumbled, and collapsed to the floor, rolling several times before coming to a stop.
Gasps echoed from around the room.
"He sent Akainu flying again!"
"This time's different though… Akainu looks seriously hurt…"
"Wait, wait, are you kidding me? That's Akainu!"
Shock rippled through everyone's hearts. They suddenly understood — Good's appointment as an Admiral wasn't some random promotion. He really was something else.
Amidst the crowd, someone clapped and shouted, "Good! Excellent!"
Everyone turned. It was Garp, eyes gleaming with pride.
"Truly eye-opening. His fighting instincts and awareness — this is genius!"
Garp laughed heartily and turned to the Gensui. "Sengoku, looks like even if you're old, your eyes still work!"
"You really brought in a good one."
Garp had realized that Good, in just a few exchanges, had already spotted Akainu's patterns and weaknesses.
While Akainu's attacks were powerful, they relied heavily on his Devil Fruit, creating long recovery times.
Good had perfectly exploited that — faking a move, baiting an attack, then countering at the perfect moment.
Garp grinned smugly. "That brat Good — he was pretending the whole time!"
He'd fooled everyone into thinking he was just a brawler, when in reality, it was all strategy to lower their guard and strike with precise combat instinct.
Garp thought he had it all figured out. "He really put on an act — pretending to be dumb…"
What Garp didn't know was that Good wasn't pretending. He had actually sacrificed his intelligence — all of his talent came from the newbie gift: Tier Combat Instinct.
It was pure instinct. His body moved on its own in battle.
Otherwise, he really would just charge in brainlessly.
Sengoku, watching Garp, snorted. "I've always had better judgment than you, old man."
Though his tone was grumpy, he was secretly overjoyed at having recommended Good for the role of the fourth Admiral.
Sengoku had originally valued Good's regeneration and Busoshoku Haki (Armament Haki), wanting a non-fruit user to round out the Admiral ranks.
But he never expected Good to be a full-blown battle genius too.
Just as Sengoku was thinking that, he saw Good leap again, clearly aiming to punch the downed Akainu.
He quickly stepped in to stop him — Akainu didn't have Good's insane healing. Another heavy hit could put him out of commission for a long time.
"Good! That's enough! Stop right there!"
Sengoku had officially declared the sparring match over.
Good halted mid-punch, but with all the force he'd put into the leap, he couldn't stop in time — he crashed hard into the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Everyone stood speechless.
