Chapter 5 - Chapter 5- Moth to a Flame

"Where do you want to go next?" Death looks at her, a bit kindly.

"I don't know..."

.

.

"Shall we go on an adventure then?"

Yumi walked ahead and Death followed her closely. The path became blurry but two went on until they arrived at a train station.

"A train station is your opinion of adventure?" Yumi looked back at Death, her tone edged with a hint of annoyance. Yet Death only laughed.

"Yes, it is. We just need to take the ride to find out where it will lead us."

"Us?"

"Us."

Yumi scoffed and reached into her pocket to find a card. Unamused, she uses the card to to enter the station and go for the nearest train. Death obviously doesn't need a card to do so.

The Station

The station was like any other station. It had that walk in thing where you get inspected, a ticket counter, that bag checking machine. Just no people to do any of it so empty. But the card was still a necessary thing. The walls were bland, covered with white tiles. The lighting was dull. The time was.. there was no time. There weren't any hands in the clock to point anywhere.

Yumi sighed and stood at the station. The train arrived and she got on. The train was empty. Literally empty. There was only one seat, in the middle of the left row. Not even a corner seat. Depressing.

"You know that seat is meant for me but it's not allowed to sit on the floor so I'll give you that seat. Guess I'll just stand since there's no seat for me anymore..." Death sighed, mockingly and cackled. Yumi could only give an irritated stare before sitting on the seat.

The train started to move and went out through the tunnel. It was pitch dark outside. You could barely see anything.

Death smiled slightly, barely enough to be noticed atleast. Slowly, the ceiling of the train disappeared and you could hear the soft wind blow over. Yumi looked up, her eyes lightened. Night continued to pass and light bursts aflame in the sky. Stars brighten in the moonlight. Stars collide, igniting into flames. Yumi looks up and reaches out as they fall, burning from the sky. It was a sight that you couldn't possibly imagine or even see in reality. It went beyond the imagination and comprehension of any human mind. It was magical.

Death watched her from afar, surprised at her behaviour. For the first time she seemed interested, lightened. The sky continued to light up. Music started to play in the background of the world.

Memories flooded back, and passed with every distance covered. Who knew afterlife could be romanticized but apparently anything can be romanticized nowadays..

Everything felt beautiful.

CLANG CLANG CLANG. A gong rang that captured the attention of Yumi. The afterlife isn't fun and isn't supposed to be romanticized. Ultimately, it's a journey made for Yumi to suffer in.

The train stopped in the middle of a field and the two got off. Sun rose from afar. From there, what lied was perhaps the most difficult yet euphoric journey...
