Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Invisible Graduate

My name is Noah.

I graduated high school last year.

Sounds normal, right? But there was nothing special about me. No friends. No girlfriend. No anything. I'm the kind of guy who could skip class for a week and not a single person would ask where he went. If there was a word for someone who existed without actually being seen, it was me.

The day I graduated, I did something most people would call stupid.

I blocked everyone.

Deleted every group chat.

"Why would you do that?"

Simple.

Because no one would notice.

And they didn't.

after that I stayed in my room all the time.

Played games, watched anime, and read webnovels.

Days blurred together.

My parents kept asking when I was planning to go to college.

"Soon," I'd say.

"Next week."

But weeks turned to months. And months turned into a full year of nothing.

Just me, in that same room, behind that same screen.

Eventually, my dad snapped.

"You're coming on a jog with me every morning."

I didn't argue. What was the point?

So there I was, long black hair tied back, eyes dead from too many sleepless nights.

My father was an average-sized man, but very healthy around 5'9". I wasn't too short myself, standing at about 5'11". We kept jogging in silence until he turned to me and asked, "Wanna race?"

I realized that if he went up ahead, I could slow down and just walk home. So I said, "Sure."

He took off sprinting. I jogged after him, pretending to try, but after a minute, I slowed down and just started walking.

Eventually, I remembered a shortcut one that cut through a small forest and shaved off about ten minutes of the walk. I figured why not. So I took it.

As I made my way through, something caught my eye. A glint of light, coming from something half-buried in the mud. It was dirty, but it looked valuable. Curiosity got the better of me.

I crouched down, picked it up, and wiped it off as best as I could. That's when I saw it clearly — a beautiful bracelet, with a large gemstone set in the center. Not too flashy, but definitely something special.

I realized I had already wasted too much time. So I slipped it into my pocket… and kept walking.

I finally got home. When I opened the door, I saw my dad sitting at the table with a cup of coffee. He looked up at me with the biggest smile and said,"You lost, son."

"Whatever," I muttered, heading for the stairs. I wanted to get to my room and take another look at the bracelet.

But before I could go up, he called out, "Sit down for a minute, son. Let's have a talk."

I sighed and sat down. "Sure."

He looked me straight in the eyes. "You need to start college by next month. I'm serious this time, Noah. I don't want to have to step in myself."

"I will," I said, knowing by his tone that he meant it.

I went upstairs, quietly. Back in my room, I sat at my desk, opened my laptop, and searched for the bracelet online maybe it was worth something. A few thousand dollars, maybe?

But no matter how hard I looked, I couldn't find anything like it. Nothing even close.

Finally, I gave in. I picked up the bracelet… and slid it onto my wrist.

And then A sound rang in my head. A mechanical chime.

"What the fuck!" I screamed.

I don't think I've ever shouted that loud in my life. My voice cracked from how sudden and raw it was.

A second later, I heard footsteps pounding up the stairs.

My door flew open.

My dad rushed in, eyes wide, panic all over his face. "What happened? Are you okay?"

A hundred things raced through my mind. The bracelet. The screen. The system. But I knew if I told him, he'd think I was crazy.

So I forced out a laugh. "I just stubbed my toe."

He stared at me for a second, then sighed in relief. "You're lucky your mother isn't home. She would've given you a whole lecture about keeping it down."

"Yeah," I mumbled. "She would've."

Normally, I'd laugh with him. Crack a joke. Say something dumb. But right then, I couldn't.

He noticed.

"I'm almost done cooking dinner," he said gently. "I'll call you down soon, okay, son?"

"Okay, Dad."

He gave me one last look before closing the door.

The second it clicked shut, I turned back to what I'd just seen.

It was like something straight out of an anime — a translucent screen floating in front of my face.

At the top, two word: Wisher's Band.

I blinked. Still there.

Curious, I spotted something underneath: [See Details].

I reached out and tapped it.

The screen shifted.
